Dr Kempson: aggression hyperactivity in mentally retarded girl
Girl 31 yrs, mentally retarded since birth. Has had a history of urinary tract disease, possibly infection, may be a growth, undiagnosed yet. But antibiotics give temporary relief. Visible pain before and during urination. Has been turned violent and aggressive, more so lately. Hits out at people especially children. Cannot tolerate a crying or shrieking child. Mental symptoms better after urination. Worse morning to 2.00 pm. Very thirsty, craves for flavored / aerated drinks. Talks all the time. Craves for attention and love. There is mental anxiety too, a speeding car or traffic jam will cause fear and extreme irritation. Cannot tolerate hunger. Increased salivation which drips constantly.We are giving her, mixed in her flavored drink, as she gets nauseated from smell of alcohol:
Canthris 30 5 drops daily
Chamomilla 200 5 drops daily
Stramonium 1000 5 drops once a week
The above treatment is on for 5 days. There seems to be some amelioration, but that maybe due to allopathic anti depressants, anti psychotics and tranquilizers that have been continued and changed / rearranged for a long time.
What do you advise?

This is much too complex a case to treat over the internet. I would not really feel comfortable treating someone in this state I cannot observe directly, and who is on so many pyschiatric drugs.
Treatment of such a case would be complicated and take a long time I believe. It would probably also require managing a variety of acute crises - I am sorry I don't feel this could be done safely on this forum (in my opinion anyway).

You are right this case cannot be treated over the internet, if it is to be treated by the classical homeopathic approach. I feel this method cannot be applied to this case at all as the patient cannot express herself.
Can you suggest something for the recurring urinary tract disease. I feel the mental symptoms are worse during urinary troubles and this case is more physiology than psychiatry.

Give me the picture of her during the urinary symptoms. The specific symptoms of the UTI, the way she changes, what gets worse, how she is different, any symptoms that come with the UTI even if in other parts of the body.

I cannot be sure if what I will tell is exactly what happens. But this is what I observe
WHAT HAPPENS DURING URINARY SYMPTOMS:
She gets aggressive (hits out at people especially small children)
She uses the few abusive words she knows.
There is restlessness and irritation, physical and mental. I feel thirst and appetite increases.
She has to be sent, sometimes forcefully, to the washroom, does not want to urinate. We know when she is having the urge to urinate because she gets more irritable and aggressive when her bladder is full.
She sits for sometime (20-30 seconds) before the flow starts. During this time is is an expression of pain on her face. Flow starts and stops. Starts again and stops. Until she gets too impatient to sit and gets up. She puts her hand on her genital after she gets up. Almost always gets her pants wet with urine either during or after urination. A minute later her mental symptoms are better.
Drinking water and urinating ameliorate mental symptoms.
I gave her Canthris 30 and Berberis 3X and Stram 1000 and immediately saw relief, not only in mental symptoms but also in urinary symptoms.
Since 4-5 days, her feet are swollen, esp. near ankles and swelling extends to toes. This has not happened the first time. But this is not a regular feature either.
