Cervical bone degenerative changes causing compression/pain to spinal cord

Dear Homeopathic Doctor,
I have severe neck pain and shoulder joint pain which is now spreading to elbow and knee joint. I had a a few MRIs done in the last 4 years and now it seems that I have the bone (disc) degenerative disorder (C5-C6). The symptoms started when I was about 44. The disc seems to be compressing my central spinal cord. The pain is constant and gets very bad when I sit for a few minutes. I have hard time sleeping and wake up after a couple of hours even after taking Ambien due to pain. Working on computer or reading in bed very painful. recently the pain is spreading in all over the left joints. I have lost nearly 60% of power in left side as well. I do eat healthy due to long term on going borderline diabetes and long term high cholestrol (both genetically inherited). I am in general under weighed and less sporty, cannot drink much as my bladder is hyperactive and need to go for urination 20-30 times if try to drink.
Please, let me know if there is something that Homeopathy offers to get some relief or cure. I'll appreciate any advice or suggestion.
Thanks a lot.

1. Describe your main suffering?
Neck pain (4 years increasing), shoulder joint pain and stiffness (2 years and increasing),stiffness and pain in elbow and knee (3 months). (All pain symptoms in the left side of body only). Recently feeling left large limb muscle of my body extremely weak. Hard to walk of lift anything from left hand. Pain adds sleeplessness and other problems. 4 MRI showed Cervical degenerative changes (C4-C5 ??) when the disc is clearly extended and pressing on the spinal cord.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
Sleeplessness adds more pain so I take ambien to sleep but works only for a couple of hours, unhappy in general and easily agrevated due to pain and over all nervous weakness.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
I have gone through 8 MRI and about 10-12 neurologist/spine specialist/natural paths/homeopaths/surgeon/acupuncturist in the past 4 years. Have a feeling no one even has a clue. Seems like this would be a pain I'll have to live with till I die. I feel hopeless. Cannot be very productive at work as working on computer is very hard with a pinching/throbbing continuous pain is unbearable after a few minutes of sitting.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?
I definitely want to die now before I become dependent on others. The pain is electrifying and sharp at times but usually remain constant as humming in the left side of neck radiating to shoulder joint and all over shoulder blade. Weakness in knee (with pain in joint) causes even less walking and activity. Worthless is the right word.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
About 4 years ago, I started feeling neck pain and I assumed it has to do with computer work, posture, and stress. Initially, took some Lunesta and sleeping really helped. But slowly even taking sleeping aid would no longer lessen the pain. The neck pain spread to left side of limbs joint. Felt minor numbness 3 weeks ago. In my youth, I worked 3 jobs at a time along with school for years and got used to not sleeping. At age of 23, diagnosed high cholesterol and at age of 27 had high triglycerides and borderline diabetes. I tend to have a very dry body. If I drink, I have to run to the bathroom 20-30 times a day and usually can't afford. I am never thirsty but do have hickups on the first bite of any meal. I do have dry eye sockets and have sandy feeling.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?
The neck pain is on all the time. Walking makes is better and sitting of lying with back up makes it worse. In this sense morning and nights are worse.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?
Walking helps. Hanging my neck on the side of bed also feels better short term. Sitting on a chair or lying in bed with back to wall also causes severe pain in a few minutes. Lower back also hurts alter a while but walking feel better for both. In general cold feels bad while warmer feel better.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?
I moved a lot (14 times in the last 10 years). Never thought that would be a reason but if anything job stress and uncertainties have been high. I had little biological changes to my body. Still maintain 132 Lbs weight and at age 48 age look more like 35. Recently hair are turning grey and muscles are weakening due to this nervous disorder.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
Definitely hot weather but recently moved to Virginia and it is kind of cold here. I like humid weather and enjoyed Florida. My head turns pretty dry if it's not humid.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
I have been known to be very mild and easy going for years. Recent years of pain and stress has contributed to nervousness/arguing and easy irritating moods. I never got upset on my family all my life but now it has been a usual thing. Weakness causes less reason to walk or do something. I am not by any means a lazy person but losing my energetic ways life.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
I truly do not have any feelings. If it is cold rain, I hate it. If it's warm rain, I'd love it. In general thunders don't bother me much.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
I do not like to discuss my tough times with anyone but a doctor. I do not like anyone to tough or massage me. It just feels like I am causing others to hurt for my pain. I do not believe anyone other than my wife can understand my pain and have sincere enough feelings to me.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?
When my neck pain is high, annoying sounds hurt a little. I used to be able to sleep right in front of video games or other noise up till 4 years ago.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc?
To think of it now, yes I bite my nails usually driving. I also sometimes talk to myself while designing a program but not unusually high or something.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?
I am blessed with a loving wife who too has been going through a lot of medical and emotional problems. I have loving kids. I do not have a lot of friends any longer as we gave up on friends and family after moving so many times. Also the health issues keep up away from partying and other efforts. Have enough things to keep the kids busy in studies and games etc.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?
I think I am going down hill very quickly. My feeling is that I may not survive for too long. I was able to build houses with my hands as a hobby only 4-5 years ago and now I have a hard time walking. My near vision is also getting weak. Need glasses even to see my own palm now. Only 4 years ago was 20/20. I think I'll either die or would become paralyzed in the next 3-4 years. We spent enormous amount to get medical help but no end results so far.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?
I am per-diabetic so sweet are always my weakness but lately I starve for carbohydrates like bread etc. I don't take much of carbs due to high cholesterol/triglycerides and borderline diabetes. I love vegetables and fruits. I am an easy going eater. Whatever is available and healthy, I am thankful.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Extremely low. I never feel like drinking at all. If I do drink water or anything (soda), I have to go to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes till it's all gone. I counted one day when my wife forced me to drink a gallon and I had to urinate about 27 times. Simply cannot afford it at work. I get kickups on the first bite. I have a moderate constipated state. I never thought it was abnormal.

14. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Far less than a normal person. It shows on my body as I have the same weight for some 25 years (132 Lbs). If I eat more today, I cannot eat again for a while. I always eat less than desired and that is become a habit.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?
Not that I can think of.
I can eat anything but have stopped eating unhealthy for almost 15 years.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?
No I don't see any abnormal sweat. It is pretty normal.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
Stool is hard on front and normal afterwards. I don't have bowl move everyday. I used to have one bowl every week but now more like once every 3 day or 4.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
I cannot sleep with neck and body pain. I take Ambian to go to sleep and usually get up in the middle of night. I never slept well in my life but was able to have a deep sleep for a few hours and be fresh again. Melatonin has negative effect on me. I used to (till 4 years ago) be able to sleep in any posture or space. Now I cannot sleep even on memory foam or whatever tricks we try. I did not sleep much for years in my youth working 18-20 hours and going to school.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?
No and sex is last thing in my worry list. I want to be able to be productive and walking rather than sex. Sure that would probably come by itself if the pain is less and I am able to exercise etc.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all?
I am extra-ordinarily sincere. I feel the pain everyone else is going through. I like to help everyone out. I am very vocal about what I know and tend to share it. I only care deeply about sincere folks and tend to not talk to people I feel I'm not sincere to me or to my family. I have a high mechanical/mathematical aptitude and can fix complex mechanical system without needing training. I do not like anyone helping me at home or at work as I feel it would be mean of me to give trouble. I cannot over eat as I feel how many folks in the world might not have enough to eat. I thank God for everything and now a days that is not an ordinary thing.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

I have tried a number of homeopathic medications given by qualified homeopaths but I felt they did not have a clue of the problem as they could never co-relate my body dryness, constipation, lack of water retainment to my bone degenerative changes and spinal cord compression.
Medications:
Phosphoricum Acidum 60c
Kalmia
Fel Tauri 30c
No effect on the symptoms and no changes. I would say that the neck has only been getting worse and the above remedies had no negative /positive effect.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?
High Cholesterol / triglycerides and high or moderately high blood sugar. No one is obese and end up having a heart attack eventually due to cholesterol or whatever. Everyone worked harder than average and also achieved better.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance

I have a big facewith increasingly darker under eye circles. I am 132 Lbs so veru skinny about 48 years old. My body can easily be taken as a 32 years old. My eyes are tending to sink in in the past 4 years. I am very polite spoken and easy going in general.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)

Please answer the following questions:
(Please give details of your past menstruation if you have attained menopause.)
- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last?
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods?
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive?
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery?
- Do you notice any clots in the flow?

Please take three doses of Phosphorus 200 as follows and see how that affects in next 5 days (only 3 doses in 5 days).

day 1 morning
1st dose

day 1 evening
2nd dose

day 2 morning
3rd dose

If there is no substantial relief please take Lycopodium 200 in the same way and report back after another 5 days.

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 2 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.

Dear Dr. Kadwa,
I have tried Phosphorus 200C as directed but unfortunately I did not have any positive affect. I feel exactly the same. I would be starting Lycopodium 200c from next Friday onwards and let the forum know if there is any change.
Thanks a lot for your support.
