Postnasal drip

My daughter is 5 years old, and suffering from allergies. She gets cold almost once a month sometimes with mild fever and post-nasal drip which makes her to cough, mostly when sleeping. We usually give Boiron Coldcalm when she has cold. Please let me know if there is a remedy to prevent this situation and to boost her immune system.

Thank you

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Can you please give the following information in respect of your daughter.

1.Whether she prefers warm surroundings ie whether she likes to be covered or she prefers cold surroundings and open air.

2.Whether she has a mild disposition or an irritable disposition. How is her attitude towards her friends and relatives?

3.What physical problems, if any does she have.

4.At what time she feels better and at what time does she feel worse like in the morning, evening, late night etc.

5.What do you think is the causative factor for starting her problems.

6.How is her thirst for cold drinks, hot drinks and water?

7.How is the bowel movement? Normal, constipated or loose.

8.Whether the child prefers to move around or prefers to keep still.

Thank you very much for the reply. Here are the answers to your questions.

1. She mostly prefers cold surroundings.

2. She is little irritable. She wants to be with some one all the time, but she gets annoyed very easily.

3. Apart from cold and allergies, nothing we are aware of. She had her physical in September and her growth was normal.

4. She feels better when she is standing up. Condition worsens when she lies down for sleeping, mainly late night. Before coughing and sometimes throwing up, I can hear her continuously swallowing something.

5. Allergies and weak immune system. She easily catches cold and cough from others.

6. She prefers little warm water, but not very thirsty.

7. Normal, usually once a day

8 Move around. Doesn't like to stay in bed even when she is sick.

Also I would like to let you know that she prefers sweets over fruits.

Thanks again.

Please give her three doses of Lycopodium 200 as follows and report back after 15 days (only 3 doses in 15 days).

day 1 morning
1st dose

day 1 evening
2nd dose

day 2 morning
3rd dose

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 2 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 15-20 minutes before or after taking medicine.

Dr. Kadwa,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I will let you know the result as you said.

Also please advise me whether I should stop giving her other medicine (Boiron Cold Calm) during this time.

Thank you very much.

Dear Dr Kadwa,

I'm really sorry for the delay in reply. Before I receive my order of Lycopodium 200, my daughter's cough got worse with fever close to 103 degrees. We took her to the emergency room and her pediatrician presumed Pneumonia. She prescribed antibiotics (Cefdinar), corticosteroids (prednisolone) with breathing treatments (albuterol).
Her cough is better now. However, she still has the postnasal drip and, mostly breathes with her mouth.

Dr Kadwa, is it OK to start Lycopodium 200 treatment now ?

Thank you.

Mom

Dear Dr Kadwa,

I gave Lycopodium to my daughter as you suggested on 12/06th morning & evening, and on 12/07th morning.

She did not cough but had a mild runny nose only in the left side of her nose with thick mucous in the early morning and watery during daytime. It stopped on 14th and she started to cough again on 15th evening. I gave her Boiron Chestal Honey to calm her cough. Yesterday (on 17th), she coughed several times during her sleep at night. And before coughing, I heard her swallowing something continuously.

Could you please advise me what treatment to follow at this time.

Thank you,
Mom

Dear Dr Kadwa,

On 19th our daughter's cough got worse and we took her to her pediatrician. She said she is wheezing and recommended Budesonide inhalation treatment for 4 weeks with Azithromycin for 5 5 days.

I gave my daughter Lycopodium 200 as you suggested on 21st and 22nd of December.

She was wheezing and coughing at that time. Her mood improved little better on 22nd. She also got runny nose mainly in the left side of her nose. It might not related to her postnasal drip, but she also got couple of white patched near her left eye.

On 23rd, she was still coughing and we took her to her Pediatrician again, and was given Bromfed DM to stop her cough and dry her runny nose. On 24th night, she coughed and vomited with a lot of mucus. Her condition improved after that, though she had a mild runny nose till about 31st of December.

Please let me know what treatment what I should follow at this moment.

Thank you,

Mom

Please give her three doses of Pulsatilla 200 at a gap of 12 hours if she has a significant relapse. Please report back after judging her response to pulsatilla.
