Sleep difficulties in 5.5 month old infant

Hi,

My 5.5 month old baby boy, exclusively breastfed, has never been a great sleeper. He suffered from traped wind when he was younger (seems he is sensitive to dairy and soy in my diet it's totally better now since I am careful with those two substances and try to avoid as much as possible) and has had mild reflux (also seems to be cleared and was managed by small but frequent feedings and elevated mattress at night). He use to wake to feed 3-4 times a night, but now I managed to get him down to 2, though the second feeding he doesn't always seem to need. He has always required quite vigorous movement to get him to sleep, along with white noise cd and his dummy. Feeding to sleep also worked, but not anymore (well, very very rarely). He typically sleeps in his cot but will also co-sleep with me, depending on how he is feeling. I have managed to shorten his getting-to-sleep routine where I settle him in usual way, but once he is beginning to fall asleep will put him in his cot to fall asleep. He is now usually wanting to finish falling alseep, wriggling in my arms until I put him down. He likes to fall asleep on his right side, but eventually ends up sleeping on his tummy, usually child's pose. This is since he has been able to roll over, about 4 1/2 months. He is nearly crawling, and I think this isn't helping his sleep. He likes to go to bed at 6pm, but wakes 45mins later and needs resettling. Typically will sleep then for about 3-4 hoursm then has feed. Then sleep 3-4 hours and feed again, then sleep on and off until 5am or 6am. For past week though, he is waking every 60-90 minutes and is crying very hard because he doesn't seem to want to be awake. Will settle easily enough at the moment, but not few days ago. In terms of daytime sleep, will go down for a nap every 90minutes and sleep 30-45 minutes. Very very rarely will he do longer, max has been 2 1/2 hours in his sling. He shows teething signs and I can feel sharpness under gums in one or two places but no teeth showing. I'be been giving him chamomilla 30C when his teeth seem to be bothering him a lot, probably about every 3 days up to a week between doses. He was receiving hypercium (sp?) because his limbs use to jerk around so much it would wake him up. This seems to have got much better and has not received a dose for a long time.

Sorry for very long message, just trying to give as much info as possible. Is there anything that might be helpful? If not, anything to help me cope with getting 3-4 hours of broken sleep every night would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions.

Best wishes, Dee
