chamomilla for restlessness?? bad reaction
Hello,I have a 4 month old baby, who was born through a c-section and in his 2nd week developed reflux for more than one month he was treated with prescribed drugs which made him scared, not able to sleep deeply and constipated. About a month ago, he was treated with some Nat Phos 6x and other homeopathic medicine from a local homeopath. He improved gradually but he has never been able to sleep deeply or calmly. He was then given homeopathic Chamomilla but it is like the restlessness increased. He doesn't want to go to sleep, fights every time and wakes up 4-5 times during the night. Mostly between 3-5am. Is the chamomilla giving him a bad reaction? What would be the right homeopathic medicine for him?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Dear Acich,
What potency was used for chamomilla.
Please answer the following:
1) Baby fights ? explain that.
2) Are there any blisters in mouth ?
3) Does the child have any ear problem? slightly touch the outer ears and watch the facial expression...
4) How is the stool?
5) Do you breast feed the child? If yes i would ask seprate questions for you.
6) Does the child take the milk willingly and after some times vomit it?
7) Plz check if the babys first tooth is makeing an appearance :-)
8) Does he have fever?
If your baby is basically well, and gaining weight satisfactorily, then the likeliest cause for her vomiting is a problem with the valve at the top of her stomach. This valve is designed to hold the contents of the stomach in place and stop them escaping up the oesophagus (or gullet).
In babies this valve is immature and not very reliable, so sometimes after a feed (either immediately or some time later) a small puff of escaping wind can cause a jet of milk to come shooting out of a baby's mouth.
This problem, which is called gastric reflux, usually requires no treatment.
All you need is a plentiful supply of bibs for the baby and towels to protect your shoulder when you're burping after feeds!
In most babies the reflux problem will sort itself out by the time they're a year old. If reflux is causing very frequent vomiting, especially when this is accompanied by poor weight gain or flecks of blood in the vomit, then we need to look into the problem.
Dietry tips:
1)Boil two cups of water mixed with few cumin seeds for about five minutes. Cool and strain the solution. Finally, let the baby sip one or two teaspoons of this solution two times in a day. This helps a great deal in relieving Acid Reflux in babies
2)It is recommended that babies should be fed breast milk instead of artificial milk formulations because the former is easy to digest and hence serves as a good natural cure for Acid Reflux in babies. (Moreover, nursing mother should avoid having dairy products, animal proteins, citrus fruits, carbonated beverages and other acidic and high-fat foods that can trigger Acid Reflux due to food allergies or sensitivity)
Plz update .
Regards,
Nikkie.

Dear Nikkie
thank you for answering.
The potency of Chamomilla dilution is 1M, is written in the bottle, and it is given 1 x day, 3 drops.
Answers:
1. Baby gets fussy and rubs his eyes to avoid falling asleep, then cries and then falls asleep.
2. He doesn't have any blisters in mouth
3. He touches his outer ear sometimes when he is fussy before falling asleep, never in other time. His face is eyes closed and like it bothers him.
4. He was having greenish stools, but today finally yellowish. He has been taking probiotics for constipation. Never blood in his stools.
5. I do breastfeed him.
6. He takes the milk willingly but doesn't eat to long, after he eats sometimes he smiles and happy. Others complains (makes sound but no cry).
7. I have noticed that he touches his gums a lot and bites his fingers drools all signals of teething, but not first tooth showing yet.
8. No fever
I do have a restricted diet, from all that you mention I still eat meat (I guess that is animal protein)
His reflux is somewhat controlled. Doesn't vomit anymore, he doesn't have pain anymore. At night sometimes coughing and doesn't sleep well, moves a lot and wakes up every 2hrs.

When was the medicine given? What was the potency used (ie: 0/1,0/2,0/3 etc).
Remedy seems OK.

Dear Nikkie,
I am a little worried. My baby completed the doses like I was told 4 nights, when he slept 4hrs then would wake up every 2.5hrs, which was great improvement. However, on the 5th night without taking any chamomilla, he when back to waking up every hour, not being able to soothe himself and every time I put him in his crib, he wakes up after several times later. Is it something wrong with the chamomilla? I don´t think it worked. Please let me know what you think.

This means the chamomilla was only palliative. A better remedy needs to be found. Chamomilla may have been a close match but must have missed some important aspect of his problem.
You know that a remedy is palliating rather than curing when the symptoms return as soon as you stop it. Improvement on a homoeopathic remedy actually lasts for some time after the remedy is stopped when it is selected well.

Dear Nikkie,
Hi.
Thanks for trying to help us. I will answer your questions.
1. I pull his ears, no problem, no reaction from him. He didn´t even changed his facial expression.
2. I have rhinitis allergy, for which I don´t take any medicine, however, I recently posted in abchomeopathy and was told to used Nux Vomica. I haven´t begin yet. My allergy hurts ears, runny nose, sore throat, watery and itchy eyes, usually affected by temperature changes and dust. Bothers me when I wake up, during the night and when the temperature changes no matter time. Better in cold weather.
I took also some homeopathic medicine for anemia because after my c-section I had anemia.
3. My baby is hungry every 1.5-2hrs when awake.
4. He usually gets calmer during the night when feeding and afterwards hold in arms and walked around. Yes. He also like rocking but after walking around when he is almost asleep.
5. He is constipated since he took the prescribed medicines from reflux. I have given him probiotics which helped at first but not anymore. Now, sometimes I give him olive oil 3 drops. His stools are greenish, smelly, the urine is normal and frequent.
6. Yes, he definitely rubs his face while crying.
7. He sleeps in a cradle but in my room.
8. He doesn´t like being hot so if the temperature is cold he accepts the blanket. But usually takes it off.
9. Yeah, he has screamed when sleeping or cried without being awake.
10. Doing that causes him pain, he tries to take away my hand.
11. At 6:30pm he begins feeling tired but fights it until 7:30pm when he finally falls asleep. During that time he is fed, walked around, rocked and finally put to bed. He sometimes wakes up at 10pm when he eats and then every 2hrs eating every time. Other times he wakes up at 11pm and eats and then wakes every 1-2hrs. And lately he wakes up every hour from the moment he is put in cradle. When put in the cradle he moves around, pushes himself with his legs and kicks until comfortable or he wakes up and we have to begin the process again. He eats every 2hrs when sleeping. It is easier to make him fall sleep when feeding him. He wakes up in the morning at 6:30am. Then at 8am he eats, then he sleeps again for 1-2hrs. Then after his bath, he eats and sleeps from 11am to 1-2pm when he eats. He eats at 3-4pm and finally he sleeps a 30min at 4 or 5pm.
12. He is breastfed but he takes also formula once or twice in the day.
I hope this information helps.
Thank you,
Irene

Dear Nikkie,
I have not received your reply on my case, please let me know what I could give my baby to help him sleep better. He went back to sleeping the first time 3 hours and then waking up every hour or 30min. Specially from 2:30am to 5:30am. He jumps, moves around, scratches his face and basically can't get back to sleep without being held and walked.

I have been observing my baby's sleeping pattern and it seems like he can't breathe well when laying down. But he doesn't have the flu, he is not sick. I have rhinitis allergy and his doctor said he was allergic too. But he didn't have this severe problem with sleeping and I wonder if that is the reason why he can't sleep because he has problems breathing.
Do you have a suggestion for this? Maybe he needs another kind of homeopathic medicine.

Please go ahead with the said doses. I had taken care of this symptoms during my evaluation, though there was delay in your findings.
Do the following:
1) Elevate his head while sleeping with very soft pillow. Make sure there is no pressure on his neck region ( hope you will be very careful with this).
2) Check his breathing while he is awake and sitting position (or straight right up positin) and when he is sleepin on bed. Let me know your observation.
Update me daily.
Blessings and prayers for your child,

Dear Nikkie,
I gave the medicine to my baby. The day before he took the medicine, he was able to sleep 3hrs and then woke up every hour or 40min. The day I gave the medicine, he woke up every 40min with one time sleeping 2hrs. He still coughS at night, wakes up every time I put him to bed between 2-4am. He also cried in his sleep last night. His breathing when awake is normal, but when sleeping he snorts and has heavy breathing, one can hear him breathe. But not all the time. He also has times when it seems like he stops breathing for a few seconds. Today, his head feels warmer than usual, but his body is not warmer.
What reactions would I see if the medicines worked? when will I see this?
Regards.

Please give repeat dose Chamomilla and Belladona, this time Belladona in the morning and chamomilla in the evening.
1) Is there any rattling sound in his chest region?
2) Overy all symptoms shows up during night, is the baby cheerful during daytime ?
3) Instead keeping baby in cradle in night, can you please make him sleep with you , just for one night. Observe his symptoms !!!
4) Who takes care of baby Day and night?
5) Check the temperature of baby?
Medicines starts working the movement it moves inside the system. We need to wait for few days.
(Since we are dealing with infant, if any severty or emergency like situations arise dont hesitate to get the child to Doctor immediately), This is one thought every mother should keep in mind when addressing there childs (infant) health on this forum.
There is no need to panic or worry about the above statement.
Need to watch for next 24 hrs.
Get hold of Aconite 30 (liquid dilution) and keep it in your stock.
Waiting for update.
Blessings,
Nikkie.

I will give him tomorrow the dose, but is there a possibility of complications? you said emergency? have there been cases in abchomeopathy or in homeopathy in general that a treatment created a bigger problem? I thought homeopathy was safe.
Answers to your questions:
1. No rattling sound in his chest.
2. he is very happy and cheerful during the day. Today he was a little more sensitive than usual.
3. I will try that tomorrow. But he doesn't like co-sleeping. He can't fall asleep with me in my bed.
4. I take care of him 24/7 only 2hrs in the morning my parents watch him.
5. Today I checked his temp when I felt his head warm. It was 36 celsius.
I can't help but wonder, if this treatment is dangerous for my baby. Can I suspend it now and he will be fine? or is it bad to suspend an homeopathic treatment?

Dear Acich,
Stop worrying !!!
Homeopathic remedies are safe for infants and children. As per the clinical experience children respond to the Homeopathic treatment much faster than the adults. The reason is that, most of the time children come under Homeopathic treatment without diseases getting too chronic or complicated. Children have a very strong tendency to grow out of the problem all they need is stimulation for the immune system, which Homeopathy does quiet effectively. Most of the children ailments like Cold, Cough, Tonsillitis, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Urinary tract infections, Bed wetting, Dentition, Recurrent Pneumonia, Eczema etc., could be very effectively and quickly treated with Homeopathy without any side effects whatsoever. Recurrent use of antibiotics may cause indigestion/ diarrhea/ hives/ ulcerations/ drug resistance or lower the immune system. Children like the sweet taste of the Homeopathic pills and it is very convenient for the parents to dispense the medicine. Homeopathy is also effective in temperament and behavioral problems seen commonly in children like anger, irritability, fear, weak memory/concentration/confidence, timidity, destructiveness etc . Children behind in milestones both physically or mentally can improved with Homeopathic treatment
Whether children actually know or sense that homeopathic medicines are good for them or not, they deserve safe medicines. It is time that parents and physicians seek safe, natural and effective alternatives to conventional, potentially harmful drugs. Homeopathic medicine is one such alternative. Homeopathic remedies are able not only to relieve many common acute problems of children, but can help prevent recurrent bouts of illness.
Since we are dealing with infant and my dependency on you for symptoms is very high. In case if you miss some important symptoms that can delay curing the child. BUT in no way the health of child will detoriate with homeopathy.
My note was just a precaution, which every parents should be taking with the newborn, it was in no way to frighten you. You had taken a very right thinking of going with Homeopathy treatment :)
Blessings,
Nikkie.

Blessings,
Nikkie.

Normal body temperature for a healthy baby is between 97 and 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (36 to 38 degrees Celsius). If your baby's rectal temperature is above this range, he has a fever. But in your case, he is not having fever. Keep measuring temperature 3-4 times a day.
Additional guidelines for seeking medical help(or medication):
1)If a baby is between 3 months and 6 months old and has a fever of 101 degrees F (38.3 degrees C) or higher, or is older than 6 months and has a temperature of 103 degrees F (39.4 degrees C) or higher and has symptoms such as a loss of appetite, cough, signs of an earache, unusual fussiness or sleepiness, or vomiting or diarrhea.
2) Your baby is noticeably pale or flushed, or has fewer wet diapers.
3)You notice an unexplained rash, which could indicate a more serious problem when coupled with a fever. Small, purple-red spots that don't turn white or paler when you press on them, or large purple blotches, can signal a very serious bacterial infection.
4)Your baby has difficulty breathing (working harder to breathe or breathing faster than usual) even after you clear his nose with a bulb syringe. This could indicate pneumonia or bronchiolitis.
5)Your baby seems sick and his temperature is lower than normal (less than 97 degrees F/36 degrees C). Very young babies sometimes become cold rather than hot when they're ill.
