Senior Dog with HypoThyroidismWe just adopted a 6.5 year old golden retriever. She came on throid medicine for a hypothyroid. It is given 2x daily. I am hoping to wean her off the medicine, but, not knowing much about her, I dont even know where to start. Along with the thyroid diagnosis, she had a horrible skin condition 7 weeks ago, which is now under control. I will give her some sulphur rather than the cortisone and antibiotic cream that was given to me by the foster parent.
Any suggestions? A bit about the dog, she is about 5 lbs overweight, is a bit sluggish, I think, but I dont know senior dogs too well. She is exceptionally friendly to everyone.
