Live Polio virus transmitted in swimmimg pools

I am about to take my 3 month old to swimming classes and am concerned about the live polio virus. I've heard that if a baby who hasn't had a polio vaccination swims with other babies who do then it is possible that the unvaccinised baby could catch polio as the live polio vaccine can be in urine which has been passed in the water. 1. Is this true? Or is it an urban myth?2. What homepathic remedy can be used to help, would aconite 30c be a good choice?? and would it be best for me, the mother to take it or grind it up for my baby. Thanks.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
There are a lot of urban myths about -- all designed to play on fear.

THere has been, even in orthodox medical circles the reaction against protecting children by keeping them in a sterile environment.

THe new thing is to go out and meet each challenge so that the immune system is updated and works as evolution has designed it.

While all this is true its not much consolation if your child draws the short straw.

Take the remedy yourself-you need it more.

Interesting to see the two replies to my mail.

The message from Astra2012 suggests that I take aconite-why??is this because it will help or is it becasue I'm expressing my concern about this issue that you recommend I take it!

It should help anxiety - which you feel - and when mother is peaceful it is of course better for the baby!

I don't think either of you answered her question. I have heard this same thing, that polio can be transferred in water, but through feces, like if a vaccinated child poops in the pool or something. Also they do not vaccinate with the live virus anymore so, at least not in the U.S., so I am also not sure if that would make a difference. There are a lot of sites out there on Polio, you might want to try a search on vaccinations that has info on Polio and how it's spread, but look for a good site that doesn't promote vaccines. HOpe that helps.
