5 week old baby with colic, lots of gas and reflux

Hi, my baby boy is 5 weeks old and since week 1 he throws up after every feeding, he only breastfeeds. Sometimes it the pure milk and sometimes is lie very liquid with litle white pieces. The pediatrician send him first zantac and then prevacid, none of them help. He also has a lot of gas, you can hear his intestines and he has a hard time passing the gas, he turns red and screams/cries. When he pass gas its very loud, almost like explosions, sometimes with poop. His stools are watery and around 4or 5 times a day. He cries non stop and theres no way to confort him, when he is colicky he pits his hands in his mouth and sucks whatever is around him.
They did craniosacral therapy and they recommended us mag phos 6c and nat phos 6c, but Im not sure if its safe and what dosage should we use. Info: he is gaining weight, he is 5 weeks and 9 lbs. I already bought that from this site :)

Please please we need some help it breaks our heart seeing him like this. Thank you for reading our comment! .

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please STOP all the drugs prescribed for your baby which have not helped him in any way. They will only create more problems in the future.

Nat Phos 6x is his remedy and you can expect to see results within the hour after his feed. Give him half a tablet which you can dissolve in a teaspoonful of water after every feed and report his response in 24 hours. Reduce the dosage to even quarter tablet when you find that he is without any pain after the first few days.

Nat Phos 6x is perfectly safe to be used unlike the PPI (Proton Pump Inhibitor) drugs like Zantac and Prevacid that you have given him which are dangerous for a baby at that age.

Do not exceed 3 tablets Nat Phos for a day.

You, the mother will also take 2 tablets after each meal 3 times daily as you will convey the effect of the remedy to baby in your milk.

I presume that you burp him immediately after a feel.

Report progress in 48 hours or earlier if my therapy aka 'Joepathy' works.

I note that you refer to 'Craniosacral therapy'. What is this all about. And how does both Mag Phos 6c and Nat Phos 6c fit into the picture?

Thank you Dr. Joe, I had stopped the other medicine a coup,e of days ago when I saw it was not doin anything for him.
I have pellets of Nat phos 6c which I will give according to your instructions.

What about the colic? He has too much gas, even the pediatrician was in shock as to hear his intestines. He gets in a lot of pain trying to pas them he cries and screams. He kicks his legs, turn back his head, he just gets very confrtable and wont even sleep.
What can I give him for that?

About the craniosacral therapy, what the person does is place the hands on ten patient and tune in to rhythm, in his case we wentto all the list of foods that I eat ti check if he is senstive to anything in particular.
Since he is to gassy and gets vert fuss.
The therapist was the one that told us about the cell salts. She mentioned that nat phos for reflux and mag phos for colic, gas in babies.

Thank you fir your answer, can you just pleae co nfirm if nat pghos helps him with the gas and colic too?

Thank you again!

'I have pellets of Nat phos 6c which I will give according to your instructions. '

You must understand that it is essential that the patient is given the remedy precisely as prescribed.

I prescribed Nat Phos 6x which cannot be confused with NP 6c.

Please get the NP 6x tablets and follow my detailed instructions precisely.

NP will hopefully help all his problems. It usually does so within the hour.

To Simone717' yes I am in miami I already found the Nat Phos 6x (hylands is the brand) thank you :)

Dr. Joe,

Its been 48 hours since I started giving nat phos 6x half tablet after each feeding , I m also taking 2 tablets after every meal

Baby is still trowing up after every feeding (depends sometimes is half hour to 2 hours after feeding, and its not a spit up) He seems to know when he is going to throw up because he extends his head backwards and gags.
He still has a lot of gas, his intestines sounds like theres running water. He still turns red when he is trying to pass gas.

He will burst into tears, crying non stop, he doesnt feel comfort in position, his face turns red almost purple and he kicks his legs.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

baby needs another remedy for this-
for vomiting.
Use edit button on post and ask
for Kadwa.- help with vomiting infant.-
change the title to the above.

A lot of times you can take the remedy
and it will work thru your breast milk.-

Remedy is not nat phos and not arnica-
and that is what Joe prescribes most- so
unless Joe has another idea, I would
ask Kadwa.

Hi You can have gas and colic-( one of
mine had that for 3 months!! did not
know about homeopathy then)

but should not be vomiting.

Change the headline to what I said-
Kadwa infant vomiting/gas/colic
see what he says to take- the colic
gas is hard to put up with, but it eventually goes away-anyway we want
the entire thing to go away and it needs
a different remedy-or remedies. Don't worry it will get fixed.

simone717 last decade
do you know how to change your headline? click on your post and see
edit button down to right-

Kadwa will think this post is taken
and not look unless you change headline.

Well a proper case needs to be taken here if a successful homoeopathic prescription has any chance of being made.

Just prescribing on the name of the condition rarely works in homoeopathy.

1. Describe in detail the main problem - appearance, colour, shape, symptoms, behaviour etc. What happens, when it happens etc.

2. Describe any pains or behaviours associated with the symptoms.

3. Describe anything that makes the problem worse ie. position, temperature, food etc.

4. Describe anything that makes the problem better ie. pain is better for cold bathing or at night in bed.

5. Go through each symptom or problem he/she has, doing the same thing (answering questions 1-4), even if the problem does not seem connected to any others.

6. When did each problem start? What happened around that same time?

7. What is his/her character like? What kinds of fears or anxieties does he/she have? What makes him/her irritable? Flesh out his/her personality.

8. What foods does he/she crave or hate? What drinks does he/she crave or hate? Is he/she sensitive to anything he/she eats or drinks?

9. How does the weather or season affect him/her?

10. How have all his/her milestones gone? Does he/she have any issue with speaking, learning, walking, climbing etc

11. How is he/she with socializing with others?

12. What is his/her bowel habit like? Any problems? Any odours, strange colours or stool shapes?

13. Where does he/she sweat? Does it have a smell or does it stain a particular colour?

14. History of illnesses in his/her life?

15. Has he/she reacted to any vaccines or medical drugs?

16. Problems with sleep? Position he/she sleeps in? Nightmares or any dreams he/she talks about?

17. How is he/she with animals?

18. How is he/she with adults or strangers?

19. What is the family history of illness and disease?

20. What was the pregnancy like? Any odd symptoms or feelings that disappeared once he/she was born?

To simone 717, thank you ! I will look into that. The pediatrician told us that since he is gaining weight, the vomiting is not such a huge concern but is because every time he trhows up his digestive tract can get 'burned'. He started with this right when he was born, we are trying everything to make him feel better. He is a really sweet baby, happy and very awake! until he gets uncomfortable.

To brisbanehomeopath

Thank you, baby is 5 weeks old, weight 9 lb 11 oz, lenght 22 in. On,y breastfed. I have taken of my diet all dairy products of diet, also onion, spinach, tomato. Before every fed I pump myself 1 or 2 minutes to get rid of alll the watery milk, I have a lot of milk. He eats very fast and he sucks very hard, lactation specialist told us that he eats 2 oz i 8 minutes or so.

1. He has a lot of gas, his inetstines sound like running water. He has a lot of trouble passing gas, he moves trying to release them, he will cry and turn red. After each feeding he will trow up, can be inmediately can be up to 2 hours. Vomit is white, sometimes watery with white chunks.
I stopped burpinghim since every litle movement makes him throw up. Its more like projectile vomiting more than spit up. He eats every 3 hours.
He gets colic. He will pass gas like explosions, sometimes with poop. He gets a lot of hiccups.

2. He extends his neck, turn red and starts crying. He also kicks his legs a lot, will find anything that will help him strech his legs. When he thows up he used to (not anymore, the past 72 hours)make faces as in pain and start crying.

3. Right after feeding we dont move him very much so he wont throw up, Apparentky me taking diary made him worse, but he still has tons of gas.

4. Most of times nothing comforts him, he sleeps in a bassinet, the portion where the head lay is elevated, we massage his stomach...

5. Gas, vomiting, colic. Pass gas as explosions, he keeps twiching his body in order to get relief.

6. Problem started when he was 2 days old, right after we arrived home and the colostrum had ended

7. He is a really good baby, excepts when he gets uncomfortable with the gas or colic. He sleeps most of the time, feeds every 2or 3 hours.

8. He is only breatsfeeding. I took dairy, onion, spinach, tomate, lemon, anything that will increase his acidity and make him more gassy.

9. Doesnt apply

10. He is gaining weight, was born at 7 lbs 11 oz and 20.5 inches. Right now he is 9 lb 10 oz and 22 inches. He isat 75 percentile.

11.
12. Stools are normal, yellow with litle seeds, watery (not diarrhea) sometimes smells very acid.

13. He sweats his neck and back. No odor

14. He is newborn.

15. Gave him zantac for acid reflux and then changed it to prevacid. I stopped giving him that.

16. Sometimes when he sleeps he gets a tick in his arm and leg, sometimes its both legs. Sleeps most of the time quietly, sometimes he will jump while sleeping and wakes up. Most of the time he sleeps very well!
17.
18. He is very calm with other people, they can hold him and he is fine with it. He will, actually stare at the face of the person

19. Very healthy, mom had reflux, dad is in very good health. Grandparent are alive, with the exception of one that passwd away form pancreatic c.

20. Pregnancy was great overall, had mornkng sickness a couple of weeks at the start and at the end of the pregnancy, had heartburn the last weeks they prescribed prevacid. Nothing out of the ordinary or major.

Thank you for your attention, I appreciate it!

I forgot to write that he throws up so much that we have to change him often because all his clothes become very wet. He also seems to get anxious, be puts his hand on his mouth desesperately and he will suck onto anything that he can find.

Thanks!

On number 8-
did you mean to say that you did
NOT take those things to increase
acidity and make him more gassy??

David, what about the mother having
reflux- and then breast feeding.

simone717 last decade
On no.8

I took away from my diet those things, it has been 10 days since Im not eating anything of that.
They did craniosacral therapy and thats when they told me the baby is very sensitive to those foods.
Im not consumimg anything that can give him more gas or acid since evrything goes thru the milk.

Thanks! :)

Lmiami last decade
Hi- are you still having acid reflux
yourself??

simone717 last decade
No, I dont have acid reflux anymore! Baby just threw up so much, anything I can give him?

Thanks!

Lmiami last decade
I am hoping David will be able to
tell you something to give him
by today or tomorrow for sure-
and if Not that he tells you when
he will be able to tell you, so you
know. He is very busy as I said.

simone717 last decade
Thanks simone 717, the pediatrican wants me to take him to get an ultrasound to see if he has pyloric stenosis or confirm that he has GERD. My husband does not agree much with taking the baby to get an ultrasound.

I hope is soon!

Thanks :)

I think ultra sounds are ok. I think
it is good to know all facts and then
of course decide how you want to treat
the problem- if there is a problem.
but good to know you have done
what is required to see the real facts.

Ok the remedy I want you to get for him is Carbo-animalis 30c, and 200c. We will start with 30c and measure his response.

Carb-an can be found in the following rubrics:

Incarcerated flatus
Vomiting after eating
Vomiting worse for motion
Explosive flatus
Watery stool
Twitching of the limbs on going to sleep

INSTRUCTONS FOR SPLIT DOSING

Firstly, you need to create a separate dosing bottle. Get a bottle with a dropper, 15-30mls in size, and fill it with a mixture of water and alcohol (5 parts to 1 part). Dissolve 2 granules or 2 drops of the medicine you bought from the pharmacy into this mixture. Your doses will be made from this bottle.

Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of your hand, or another elastic surface like a book. It should be a firm hit not a tap. 2 hits is enough to begin with, and should not be increased unless it is clear that it is needed. The water in this bottle will 'remember' the number of times you have hit it, so that subsequent doses will be stronger (necessary to overcoming the resistance of your disease).

Place 1 drop into an amount of water - I may start with anything from 1/4-1 full cup (62ml-250ml) depending on the sensitivity of the patient. Stir thoroughly and take 1 teaspoon into the mouth. Throw the rest of the cup away. Wash this cup and spoon in hot water, not detergent, and keep them aside to use for further doses.

This is one dose. Repeat doses would be started from the 2 hits on the bottle.

Each step of this process can be adjusted to reduced aggravation or to increase the effect of the medicine. In order to be able to do this, it is important to measure each step (count the hits, the drops, measure the water etc).

Start with 1/2 cup of water. You will be giving him one dose a day of the 30c, for no more than 3 days. If his symptoms worsen in any way during this time you must stop, as this is the homoeopathic aggravation and often signals the beginning of a healing process.

David
