Feline stomatitis caused by autoimmunityA 4-year-old neutered male cat that I rescued has stomatitis, which, at least for cats, is autoimmune-based. (Once I treated treating an apparent upper respiratory infection with echinacea and had near-disastrous results. The stomatitis became terribly worse.)
I've only been able to trap him once to get him to the vet. He gave him a shot of cortisone, which only worked for 11 weeks. I did treat him with staphysagria for a few weeks, but that stopped working. The only thing that helps is prednisolone (5 mg. 2x/day). When I try to cut it down to once a day for a week and then every other day (per the vet's instructions), he immediately starts having pain. He's been on lysine for awhile, and within the past couple of weeks he's been on 5 mg. of Co Q-10 1x/day, and for the past week, a product called Gumz-n-Teeth. For the past month or so, I've given him liquid calendula (5 drops 3x/day). I've just ordered a new product called EFAC Peridontal Health.
He eats plain baby food mixed with Wellness soft food.
Has anyone had success treating this homeopathically? Without anything, he can be in so much pain that he screams and refuses to eat.
