The ABC Homeopathy Forum
Classical vs Modern Homeopathic Prescribing
CP (Classical Prescribers) believe that there is only one way to choose the right remedy i.e. the Hahnemanian way a.k.a classical homeopathic prescribing. This entails single remedy, similar to the symptoms & minimal dose.MP (Modern Prescribers) believe that cure is what the patients seek. They don't care if its any particular form of prescribing so you can mix remedies without any regard for minimal dose and since remedies have never been proven in combinations so you are not bound by similar symptoms also.
What do you think is the better approach & why?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
In my considered opinion, MP is the better approach as it meets the user needs. It provides a timely help in this busy world. But, one must not violate the principles. Try his/her best to suggest a single remedy or remedies belonging to the same group. Also, start with a minimal dose.
Taking a CP approach on this forum is very difficult due to time constraints, data noise and a comprehensive communication.

As per my experience, both the approaches have positive & negative points & in certain cases one should strictly follow the Classical approach while in other cases where symptoms are not very much clear, MP could be used. But overall, my experience tells me that if you find constitutional remedy for a patient, nothing could be better than that. But if not sure, then don't waste time & choose 3-4 similar & complimentary remedies & you will be good to go.
Along with constitutional remedies, I also prefer to use specific biochemic salts selected as per date of birth of patient. This yields marvellous results.
Generally I believe to follow a hybrid approach with first priority of finding constitutional remedy alternated time to time with complementary remedies & supported with biochemic salts. If this approach seams difficult then go for a combination of 3-4 complimentary & similar remedies. You will definitely get good results. No doubt in that.
Lastly keep in mind that nothing is final or unchallengeable, space for innovation is always there so keep your windows open for accepting facts & making new innovations without violating the universal laws.

One more thing to add, people usually consider MP as 'This for that' & CP to be a time consuming & difficult approach as it perceived that you have to consider totality of symptoms & then have to select constitutional remedy. I find this argument lame & totally baseless.
To me 'This for that' approach is much more applicable to CP as compared to MP because each remedy has some unique decisive symptoms or attributes you can say. Look for those & no need to waste time in matching totality of symptoms. Follow 'this for that' rule in order to find the unique symptom of each remedy in a patient & you would not be fall.
