Constipated baby

Hi, my 1 yr old has had constipation issues since birth. She was exclusively breastfed for 6 months then breastfed with solid food added. Epsom salt baths helped for a few weeks, but don't seem to be helping anymore. It's been bad enough that it's caused fissures. I also suffer from constipation. I'm not sure what else to do.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
give 2 pills of nux vomica to the baby, when ever she is constipated ,three times a day.

in addition half tablet of nat sulph crushed and powdered three times a day,ie one and a half tablet every day.

give a feed back after 4 days.

The baby is breastfed and since you are constipated so is the baby.

Not everything requires remedies.

Breastfeeding moms get dehydrated which is a huge cause of constipation. Then comes exercise, again moms usually lack there, understandably.

Start doing the following and your & your baby's constipation should drastically improve with days. If still something remains then it can be addressed with remedies.

1. Start eating half cup of plain, non-flavored yogurt with live cultures at least 3 times a week in the morning or with lunch. If you have homemade yogurt that’s the best.
2. Stop all processed foods e.g. white bread, white rice, white burgers etc.
3. Eat whole foods only i.e. whole grain bread, brown rice etc.
4. The bread should be high in bran content & the flour should be coarse ground.
5. Start eating a small bowl of salad at least once a day e.g. it should contain cucumber, carrots, salad leaves, tomato and any vegetable you like. Put a dressing of olive oil & raw apple cider vinegar and put some salt & black pepper to your liking.
6. Eat at least 1-2 fruits per day e.g. apple, orange etc.
7. Drink enough water so that your urine is clear. Yellow colored urine is a good indication that you are dehydrated.
8. Exercise:
• Aerobic activity e.g. Start walking at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week with your spouse/friend and achieve your target heart rate.
• Strength training e.g. Start weight training at least 20 minutes 3 days a week.

Fitness,

I drink kombucha and water kefir daily along with eating full fat goat milk yogurt. I don't eat processed sugar or white flour. I have cut out cow dairy and grains for the most part because I'm pretty sure they were contributing. I drink plenty of water. I eat vegetables with every meal. I consume a healthy amount of coconut oil daily and also cook with olive oil, lard, and ghee. I eat plenty of fruit. I could definitely use a bit more exercise, but still do get movement. None of this has helped either baby or me.

Anuj, I will give that a try.

I also give baby bone broth in a sippy cup regularly and water kefir.

You know your body best.

What insoluble fiber are you taking since you have no grains?

Kombucha is a processed drink so my vote is against it.

I am skeptical if Nux-V is going to be curative. It maybe palliative i.e. gives relief as long as taken. The reason I say this is that baby's constipation is not superficial since you too are constipated.

i have added nat sulph also so it is curative and nux palliative,so dont bother.aim is to give relief to your anxieties and cure the problem.follow fitness or give your baby the desired medicines upto ypu.

Anuj-

Is the potency of Nux you want given 30c?

What about the Mom- she should take something for herself.

simone717 last decade
yes 30 c.

for mom, nux 200 on the first night half an hour before dinner, five pills and from next day onwards nat mur 6x ,5 tabs three times a day should be tried in addition to drinking one litre of luke warm water immediately after getting up in the morning and adding roufage to her diet.

The kombucha and water kefir are both home brewed. I also drink a tsp of bentonite clay in water upon waking.

Where can I buy these homeopathics? Will most health food stores carry them?

As far as insoluble fiber, I eat apples with the skin, a fair amount of onions, greens both cooked and raw, cucumbers, dates, and I'm sure there's more.

nat sulph (natrum sulph)6x and nat mur
(natrum mur) 6xare cell salts also called
Dr. Schuessler tissue salts. They are a sub branch of homeopathy and work on the
cell metabolism to balance it-

You can buy Nux Vomica 30c off this site.
Or if in usa, whole foods will have it
plus the cell salts ( different shelf- hylands brand, they are tablets) Or you
can order Cell salts from Vitacost online-
if in UK homeoforce online.

Thank you!

I will give it a try and hope it helps. I've done all of the dietary steps I know how and while some things have offered relief for a period of time, it wears off after awhile and we're right back where we started.

We're at the end of day 3 and lo is still constipated. She poops every day but it's hard and dry. She's been irritable as well. I've noticed myself being rather irritable. Don't know if it's the treatment or coincidence. Thoughts?
