Earache / Toothache

Hello all, I'm a huge fan of this site, however this is my first time posting a question. I'm begining to get very scared and I'm constantly in pain and I was really hoping that someone here can at least tell me what they think.

About 4 days ago, I got what was thought to be a severe toothache. I went to my dentist and they ended up having to pull my last wisdom tooth on my upper left jaw. During the time I was numb, obvously there was no pain what so ever, however when the numbness wore off my pain came back full force. After speaking to my dentist about the pain returning, he put me on antibiotics, explaining that I had a serious infection around this tooth and this would clear it up. I've been taking Amoxicillin for 3 days now and still I have serious pain. This pain over the past couple of days has moved into my left ear where at times it doesn't hurt at all, but when it does hurt, I can feel it in the pain in wisdom teeth that I no longer have, all the way down to my neck. I have good teeth, and I know a cavity isn't the cause of this considering I've just visited the dentist. When it first started happening, I couldn't even dull the pain with Tylenol, however now, it seems to help it quite a bit. My problem now is the intense pain that occurs is just as bad as it was before I took my dental trip, and even with the use of Antibiotics on my end it doesn't seem to be getting better...at least from a pain point of view.

Without the aid of Tylenol now, the pain becomes so intense it's enough to make my eyes start to tear up. Heat eases the pain for a few minutes, then it comes back again.

My dentist is under the impression that it's an inner ear infection, which it no uncommon for me, however I've not had one this bad. I've missed work now for 2 days because of this, and I can't afford to keep taking trips to the doctor and dentist over the same problem. I was hoping that someone here my be able to confirm that this is infact an ear infection due to my symptoms, and if so, can I expect the pain to go away any time soon. There is no word on how serious the infection is...only the antibiotics to kill the infection stands in my corner with me. As I said before, I'm begining to get scared because this pain is so intense at times, and has been with me for so long now.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you cure it.

To help you all in helping me, I will state that the only other thing that I've done to ease the pain is use sweet oil in my ear. Other than that, nothing else other than my use of antibiotics has been done to help. The pain comes at times and is not steady as it was when the problem first started.

This is all the information that I can provide and it is infact complete. Any adivce that you can provide will greatly help me.

Thank you so much for reading this long post.

Thank you so much for the advice Dr. Mahmood, I took your advice and it actually eased the pain quite a bit...I'm only hoping now that this infection is going to start to disappear within the next couple of days.

Is it a neurological problem? If it hurts and nothign else is worng it could be neurological. Try Hypericum 200, 2 pills 1 time a day for 3 days.
