Addiction - how do I break it?

Someone asked me to help him break a smoking addiction... he's hooked on cigarettes and now weed as well and he really wants to break it because it's constantly draining his pockets - making him broke...
Please help, any remedy that will do anything for this ?? he's been smoking for 10 years now

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Homoeopathy doesn't work that way. Actually addiction doesn't work that way either. Addiction comes from some kind of underlying cause, usually psychological. In order to release someone from the grip of addiction, you need to understand where it came from, why it exists in that person. Addiction is not the same from one person to the next. It is as varied as the kinds of personalities addicts can have.

So there is no 'addiction' remedy or 'stop smoking' remedy', despite what you will hear from certain people on the internet. It is a complicated problem, and one that can only be solved by understanding that complexity in the person and choosing a specific remedy for them.

Aha... So getting him a remedy that suits his specific needs will possibly help the addiction?

It came from neglect of emotions since early childhood.. His family is not the touchy type and he as a child needed this touch and cuddles and love sooo much but didn't receive it, so he lashed out and would constantly be in fight with siblings and then as he became a teenager he became really withdrawn etc..

It will help the addiction, although I find that many addicts also need the support of the various programs available to them as well, usually run by other recovering addicts. Letting go of addiction usually means not only having the underlying motivation for it healed, but requires support for the changes necessary in the person's external life as well.
