Aurum for sinuses

I have recently prescribed Kali Bich for patient with chronic sinusitis. He has been on it for one month and has developed scabs in lower nasal cavity (nostrils)not much improvement with other symptoms. Mostly on left side of nose with little blood and clear fluids.

Have stopped him on the kali bich and will start him on Aurum 12X. Any other suggestions?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I would say prescribe Hydrastis 6c thrice daily just for one week.I hope it will clear the trouble.kali bichrom was the best medicine i dont know why it did not gave relief.

For chronic sinusitis cases, I have been successful with the following:

Silicea 200C fortnighly. No medicine 2 days before and after the silicea day. On remaining days-Kali-Bich 30C,4 times a day. Currently two patients of this forum are on this regime and they are improving.

You are right but in this case Kali bichrome failed.I think when one medicine clearly indicated dont work we should change the potency of the same remedy.George Royal a great american homeopath was converted to homeopathy just due to this trouble,he was given the same remedy in 3x potency. Now a days some homeopathh are giving multple potencies of the same remedy at the same time and are getting better result in this way valuable time in experimentation is saved. It is not a bad or wrong idea and they claim that there will be no aggravation. You may try.I have tried a many times and the result is favourable.

As I have read, if the medicine is correctly chosen, it will show its efficacy, howsoever low in degree it may be, irrespective of the potency. What comes to my mind, in the UK case under discussion, miasm may be obstructing.

I have also read about giving 3 potencies,in ascending order, on three successive mornings, particularly in chronic cases, but I ignored it as trash due to being off the Organon. You have tried and it works, as you say. Being more a consevative type, my age may also be a factor, I shall wait a little more for results on this method before I take a plunge.

Thanks for this interesting exchange of information.

It is strange Sajjid that I should try Kali Bich again since it seemed to irritate. I thought at first that the scabbing could be due to the sinuses drying, in turn I would change the remedy to Aurum to clear this symptom, since the patient fits the Aurum rubics closely.

He also has high cholesterol which is hereditary and border-line diabetic. Could this be a factor?

Yes there is no objection in trying Aurum if the symptoms agree.I did not forced the use of kali bichrome .i just told what the masters of homeopathy did and what they are doing now they say before going to another remedy it is better to try in different potency of the same remedy. For the kind information of my dear Sahai no doubt when the medicine is selected properly it will give releif in any potency but sometimes it fails. There are so many examples in homeopathic litereature. However Sahai is a good prescriber---no doubt i have read almost all his postings.

Do you suggest I continue with the Kali Bich but perhaps at a lower dosage?

Was using 30c.

I agree with both of you that Aurum may be given now(if the symptoms agree) because, after all, we have to treat symptomatically and not blindly by the name of the disease in homeopathy.

In my last posting I have advised a peep into the medical history of the patient to find out whether he has/had acquired or inherited syphilis, gonorrhoea, tuberculosis or severe skin disease? This information is a routine thing, any way.

He has numerous skin complaints, mainly in the summer (hives, itching) and after alcohol (red hot blotches).

Personality is usually introverted and calm. Can be obsessive in behaviour towards work. Hides feelings and doesn't want people to know what he thinks.

Food likes - alcohol, meat, hot spices. Dislikes - seafood, popcorn.

Sulphur exactly fits in his nose condition and will also take care of the psoric miasm. It will be a good tool for his summer skin problems also. I suggest 30 potency to start with.

I agree that it is psora but i would suggest continue aurum and intercurrent with sul.It will clear all the problems.Sahai we can dicuss further to reach the right solution.Your suggestion is welcome i know u are competent and we can discuss each other.

Sulphur fits his known nose symptoms better. Hence by Sulphur we can take care of both(nose and miasm). It may be given thrice a day and the frequecy reduced as the improvement sets in. It is only my suggestion, you decide.

Thanks Sahai & Sajjad

I agree Aurum is a good base with sulpher for a few days. I will look closer into the repertory.

When people say Aurum they mean Aurum Metallicum.

Remember the Aurum here they feel matches
symptoms-

You want to match your symptoms with the
remedy and include everything else going on
with you like your digestion, etc.

Unless this is an acute out of the blue thing
like cold or flu etc- then you can match the
illness itself to the remedy.
