10 month old baby with reflux, constipation, ezcema and teething badly. Pls help

Hi there

My son was diagnosed with reflux at 7 weeks and put on Zantac and Losec. He was breastfed till 7 months and than put on goat milk after trying so many different formula even precription formula did not help. His constipation got worse from being on the reflux medication. He also developed ezcema once starting solids, dr said he possibly has some food or milk intolerance and we need to do an allergy test. We are Suspecting egg, nut, avocado and lentils give him rashes. His also teething really bad and very irritable. The dr changed his reflux meds now to see if it helps with constipation but still no luck. I'm hoping to find one remedy to help with all his symtoms. I have been giving him chamomilla 30c for teething, which helps a little but doesn't help with reflux, ezcema, or constipation. The ezcema seems okay now so not to worried about that.

Other remedies we have tried that a homeopath prescribed were. Not much luck with any of those remedies.
Ant tart 30
Sulphur 30
Silica 30

Really appreciate any help
Thanks in advance

1. What is the age, weight & height of child - 10 months, nearly 11kgs, have to get back to you about height

2. Physical appearance: Thin, Medium, Chubby - chubby

3. How is the child mentally & emotionally normally - smiley, happy, funny, playful

4. How is the child mentally & emotionally during reflux/gerd - Angry, irritable, restless, wants to be held upright and carried

5. What are the symptoms of reflux/gerd - it's probably silent relux now...not a lot of vomiting now, but I can hear him swallowing back after burping. The reflux can occassional occur 1/2hr-1 hr after milk where he wants to be held and arches his back if his on the floor. It's hard to know if he still has reflux at times, cause he can be fine other times. But his worse in the evening

6. How is the child’s stool - it changes, if I give him meds it goes back to hard stool, without medication I would say its a soft consistency

7. Does the child have gas (flatulence), if yes, a lot or less - he does have but I wouldn't say a lot

8. How is the child’s desire to feed - very big appetite. But I have seen rashes on his body from having egg, avocado, and satay chicken (which contains nut) Also tried giving him tomatoe sauce today and in the evening he would not stop crying and wanted to be held the whole time,

9. Is the child teething - yes he is, pretty badly, crying, puts everything in his mouth, very irritable, I believe it makes reflux worse

10. How is the child’s sweat (perspiration), answer all these points

I don't see him sweat much actually becos weather here has been cold.
Couldn't answer the following until summer kicks in. He does have odour smell
• Any Smell
• Where mostly
• How much (little, a lot etc.)

Your remedy is: Calcarea Phosphorica 30c.

HOW TO TAKE THE REMEDY:
Please take two doses 12 hrs apart. Just two doses. Not daily.
Report back in 2 days with changes observed.

WHAT IS A DOSE FOR CHILDREN:
One dose is made by dissolving one pill of the remedy (or one drop, if you have liquid remedy) in half a glass of cooled, boiled water. Stir it and take one tea spoon from it.

TIME OF DOSE:
First dose: At night before sleeping.
Second dose: 12 hrs after the first dose.
Don’t take any more dose or any other remedy unless I tell you.

PRECAUTIONS:
If there is worsening of symptoms (called homeopathic aggravation) after the first dose, then don’t take the second dose.
Don’t take any other homeopathic remedy during this treatment.
Give a break of at least 10 minutes before eating/drinking anything before or after taking the remedy.
During the treatment, don’t eat anything which you have never had all your life.

HOMEOPATHIC AGGRAVATION
Sometimes the symptoms for which treatment is being done can worsen after taking the homeopathic remedy. This is homeopathic aggravation and a good sign. It usually dies down within 24-48 hrs. During this time you can use any non-medicinal means to keep yourself comfortable. If the aggravation seems excessive, you can use any & all means necessary (including taking allopathic medicines) to keep yourself comfortable. Keep your homeopath fully updated if this happens.

HOW TO GIVE FEEDBACK:
A good example of how to report your progress is by giving %age improvement for all your health problems e.g.
Headache: 30% better
Low energy level: 50% better
Anxiety: 40% better
Sadness: No change
Depression: Worse
And so on list all your complaints.

MOTHER’S DIET
If your child is breastfed then what you eat will have a huge effect on your baby’s health. If you eat foods which cause gas (e.g. cabbage, beans, cauliflower etc) then your baby will have gas too. Cut back on the foods which cause gas in you or your husband (because your baby may have acquired the genetic tendency of your husband to have gas & bloatedness). Eating a few fennel seeds will address infrequent gas & bloatedness, eating it in excess will cause constipation.

THE NAT-PHOS MISINFORMATION
Homeopathy works on “individualization” i.e. the remedy for GERD which will work on one child may not work on another. There are several remedies for GERD. A particular person is promoting Nat-Phos as THE remedy for curing GERD by selectively quoting parents benefiting from his Nat-Phos protocol. This is not only incorrect but totally against the principles of “individualization” in homeopathy. I am sure desperate parents would do anything to get the cure but blindly going for Nat-Phos is not the route as many have found the hard way. It’s a case of common sense & statistics. If you give Nat-Phos to 100 kids for GERD, some are bound to improve, it doesn’t mean that it’s THE remedy for GERD. Next time someone touts Nat-Phos as the remedy for GERD ask him the statistics first.

GENERAL INFO ABOUT HOMEOPATHIC PRESCRIBING:
If someone is giving several remedies, without waiting to see the effect of one remedy, then it is totally against the core principles of homeopathy. Such an approach is unlikely to give permanent cure, rather it may distort actual symptoms making subsequent cure even more difficult.

Thanks fitness and thanks for the explanation on Nat Phos, I was gonna ask you about Nat Phos cause I've seen a lot about it. But Nat Phos didn't work for my first son, so hence why I wasn't sure to try again.

I will order remedy today and let you know how we go.

Thanks

Hi fitness

I gave my son the dose around 12pm today but to be honest he was so bad where he just wanted to be held and crying, really restless that I had to give him Nurofen to ease the pain.

So unfortunately no improvement as yet. I will keep you posted.

I was wondering if one drop in half a glass of water would be suffice? I've always given it to him in either a qtr glass of water or 3 drops directly. Depending how bad his symptoms are

Hi fitness

Just gave my son the second.... last night before bed he seemed happier and I didn't give him his reflux meds but than during his sleep he was very restless tossing and turning, pulling at his hair and ears. This morning he became unsettled after being up for an hour and than vomited a bit so had to give him some Zantac.

His also constipated again and has been dribbling a bit more. Top two teeth still trying to come out. He also sounds a little Mucous/chesty in the throat when his lying down....but not very bad like a cold.

Where to from here?

Thanks

It appears my 3yr gave my 10 month old son a cold, so he does actually have a cold. He has runny nose, sneezing and sounds mucousy.

Let me know what you would like me to do next?

Thanks

Please resist the urge to give medicines at the very first sign of problem. Zantac was not needed. You will spoil the case with such actions.

Now just wait & see and update in 2 days. Cold is nothing to be afraid of, it will boost his immunity in the end.

Hi fitness

I do appreciate your advice about not medicating to early. But just wanted to give you some back ground infor about where I'm coming from. My first son had bad reflux too and constipation issues. We came on this forum and David Brisbane helped us( you can see all our cases on here) long story short. My first son from as early as 3 months old developed bad eating habits/ behaviour, and sleeping issues due to not being medicated properly from his reflux and till today 3yrs later he will not eat much and suffers from chronic constipation and needs to have daily stool softner to go toilet. I blame myself everyday cause I refused to give him Zantac and kept trying and trying different remedies that did not work for him. So as much as I love natural remedies, I will not do the same mistake again and let any child suffer from pain. I'm happy to try to treat my son with homeopathy but if Im seeing any distress I will do everything I can to remove that pain.

I do hope you can understand where I'm coming from. Just trying not to let history repeat itself. But of course im Hopefully this time that your treatment works for us.

In the mean time I will do what you say and wait til 2 days passes

Thank you

Thanks for the update.

I am sure you know that no amount of medication or remedies will provide relief if you have bad eating habits and other issues which won't exist if you follow balanced eating, proper sleep and exercise etc.

I am not trying to judge you but if a kid has bad eating habits, the blame lies on parents most of the time. Anyways, you are the best judge in the end.

Most reflux babies develop bad eating habits from being to scared to eat or drink because they associate food or drink with pain. I know this from being to children pyschologist and being part of a reflux forums of mums out there who are suffering with their children eating and sleeping as well. Theirs 1000s of mums that would agree with me. Sleeping is resolved for us now but the food part takes more time.

My child doesn't eat junk food its that he is too scared to try new foods that he doesn't know. He prefers white foods, and eats limited colored foods. Especially red sauce. All drs says to give the child what he can eat so at least he grows and that's exactly what I'm doing to buy us time. So no I don't feel like I am the blame of him eating that way. My 10 month old eats great and that because I never left him suffer in pain and that is the root of the problem here. Behaviour is harder to break than the under lying problem it self

Hi fitness

Just an update gave the dose to my son this morning. His behaviour seemed better during the day, he slept well in the morning, he even did a nice pooh. Very pleasant actually

However in the afternoon he went to sleep and woke up crying. He still has a running nose and he seems very grumpy, did not want to eat much either. Can not let him down, just want to be held.

To me it seems like something wore off him.

Any advice here?

Give him one plussed dose (explained below) now and then later as required but not more than once in 12 hrs.

PLUSSED DOSE:
Dissolve one pill of the remedy (or one drop if remedy is in liquid form) in half glass of water. Stir and take one tea spoon. That’s one dose. For the next dose, stir the mixture and take another tea spoon. Keep using the same mixture for every subsequent dose. Stirring everytime before taking the teaspoon of dose. If available, add a tablespoon of vodka as a preservative to it. Don’t refrigerate, cover the glass and put somewhere away from direct sunlight.
