son with constant strep throat
My 9 yr old son has strep throat 4 to 5 times a year . It goes away with antibiotics but I am worried about him always using this treatment . The strep comes on suddenly he is fine all day and then that night he is crying with a sharp pain in his throat we end up at the hosiptal , the last time his throat looked fine and the docter was certain the test would come back negitive yet it did come back positive as strep . USA - four seasons climate right now is winter
sudden strep throat recurring four to five times a year
symptoms pain in throat , always at night sometimes throat is red ,swollen , white spots , sometimes it looks normal.
several ear infections as a toddler has speech problems , stuttering and a constant scratchy sounding voice. The strep throat started four years ago. He is very friendly, sweet and helpful he gets good grades in school and has friends . He is very active doing different sports through out the year and playing outside at home alot .

I should add that the strep happens during all times of the year I have not found a time/season that if skipped. He has strep right now and he had it on sept 17th of this year before that if was in the spring /summer may or june.

could you please give more symptoms of the sore throat - try and remember back to the worst one and give all the symptoms of this. E.g. - fever? type of pain? swelling? thirst? better for swallowing food or liquid? etc. etc.
if you do this then someone can suggest a remedy to give immediately the next sore throat begins.
also get him to gargle weekly for a while with sage solution (do not drink, just gargle, as drinking in large quantities can be poisonous). Just pour boiling water over a teaspoon of dried sage (like making tea), then strain, allow to cool, to lukewarm, then use as a gargle.
If a sore throat starts also gargle asap with sage - it has an antiseptic action.
Raw garlic or good garlic capsules will help too.

as far as symptons there is never a fever or any cold like symptoms .The only thing he gets is his throat most of the time is very red his tonsils are swollen like two volcanos laying sideways with white puss all over the tonsils. It is very painful to swallow even his own spit no food or drink cold or hot makes it feel any better . Popcycles help slightly but hurts to even use this. Everytime he test positive for the strep test. Only once did his throat look normal with no other symptoms but pain in the throat and even that time he tested positive for strep. The pain he feels is very sharp and starts suddenly and just doesnt stop once it starts. I hope this helps please if more info is needed let me know . thanks linda

pls read the following remedies under throat on this site and decide which one you think is closest, then get this remedy and use it as soon as the sore throat begins. pls come back if you have any problem deciding (there may be 2 very close and sometimes it is best to get both remedies ready for the event) and pls come back when you have decided to get advice on the dosing. as there are so few symptoms to go on it is best you read in this way.
