Improvement or palliation

How do we know whether a remedy is giving real improvement which may lead to a cure, or it is just palliating the symptoms?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
The principle of Direction of Cure guides us towards real cure. Often in the beginning of treatment we must be very alert to following the direction of the improvement to make sure we are not palliating or suppressing.

Direction is classified in several ways - Inside to outside, Top to Bottom, More important to Less important, Newer symptoms to Older symptoms. The interplay of these various directions is important too, and it is easy to make a mistake if you are not properly trained and experienced.

Palliation also has qualities which set it apart from genuine cure.

1. The remedy needs to be frequently repeated to maintain the improvement.

2. The improvement reverses when the remedy is stopped.

3. The symptoms worsen when the remedy is stopped

4. The remedy becomes less effective is creating improvement the longer it is used.

5. New symptoms arise, or other symptoms not originally affected by the remedy worsen (this is suppression which comes from repeated palliation).
