Enzyme Therapy after Whipple not working

I joined this form to look for more info about problems after having the Whipple procedure. My husband, had the Whipple done July 27, 2005 and has been having digestion problems. It seems to have gotten worse since Thanksgiving. He is taking 40 mg. of Protonix twice a day and he also takes the enzymes called Viokase. He was given the Whipple for a malignant 3 cm.tumor in his duodenum. He gets a lot of painful gas and he is constantly burping. He vomits and afterward feels much better. He has lost weight and has no appetite. Today he has decided to go back on a liquid diet. His doctor said that his blood levels were normal, except that he is anemic. The Viokase, contraindications, say that he should not take iron with it. It was suggested that he also have Chemo and Radiation, but surgeon said that he thought it would only do him about 1% good. A friend suggested that my husband might be having bouts of pancreatitis from having the Whipple. My husband feels that he is becoming severly malnourished. He takes Boost, supplemental shakes, but any solid food he eats causes a lot of bloating and severe gas pains, or atleast that is what he feels the pain is caused from. He takes an over the counter medication that is symethicone. It doesn't offer much relief though. He is becoming extremely deepressed and often says he thinks he is not going to live much longer. He does not know the prognoisis because he didn't want to know. Is there anything that can help him?
