Preventing febrile convulsions

My son who is 2 1/2 years old, had a febrile convulsion earlier in the week. I am looking for means to prevent this from occuring again. It is said that these do not harm the child, but is sure scares the parent. He had a fever af 101 F and it spiked up to 104 and he had his seizure. This has happened in the past twice before. We carried him to the hospital the last time, and of course they gave him something to bring the fever down. But most naturapaths and homeopaths say to let the fever run its course.
The child began to get clingy in the early afternoon and when checked, had a fever of 99 F. Then as it got later, the fever climbed gradually till it spiked and the seizure. No other signs of illness leading up to that other than a general lack of appetite for two week up to that point. We gave Belladona 30X that night and the next day. He acted fine the next day with a slight fever of 100. That nigh, he went to 101 and the next day, he was over it and his appetite was/is back. What can or should I do the next time? Thanks....Lajaw

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You used the correct remedy for his fever but the potency was too low.

You should use the 30c potency which should give more positive results. You may use 2 globules every 3 hours and also use ice cubes in a plastic bag on his head to control the fever. The ice usually brings the fever down very quickly but you should investigate the reason for the fever. Has he caught a cold or cough or is there some other reason ?

The convulsions are frightening but are not of any serious concern as long as you ensure that the fever is controlled. They usually abate as the child grows older.

my daughter suffered these at age 2. they seemed to be stress induced, and she would run a fever ' convulse and then be tired but ok, even when there was no obvious infection of any kind. she was prescribed a single dose of stramonium and never had another episode. sorry cannot remember potency. i know they are very frightening to witness. at the same time she suffered from excema which would go bright red and did not like bright lights
