Chronic Urticaria (Doctors thought it was Crohn's)

1. Age,sex,weight,country,occupation.

17 years old, male, 55 kg, Sweden, student.

2. Main complaints and other associated troubles.

Urticaria (hives, nettle rash) big, red, slightly elevated (slightly itchy always and very itchy sometimes) patches in different, mostly roundish shapes all over my body. Now – after ten months of alternative medicine treatment, the hives are smaller and pale & the outbreaks come quite seldom, but I still get them.

I have now, as mentioned above, done a natural, alternative medicine treatment (described below) and I get outbreaks quite seldom now – and when they come – the hives are small and pale. Some weeks I’m hive-free and others I get small outbreaks in specific areas of my body. Even if I have no rashes, I can make them appear by slapping the skin quite hard. If I lie down on a spike-mat, my back becomes bright red (of course) and then covered with hives.

When the outbreaks started, I started having problems with a mental obsession about losing intelligence and also problems with memory and concentration-ability. I also tend to exaggerate the danger of environmental toxins, such as
bisphenol, asbestos, phthalates etc.


b)What exactly do you feel, Sensation as pain, how pain feels or burn etc.

The hives start itching much more and the areas become brighter red – after scratching. The rash tends to spread and worsen upon scratching. No burning sensation.

c)What are the factors that causes this trouble according to you.

I’m not sure – it has been going on for more than a year, I have not taken any allopathic medication to counter it. It has improved very, very much with the alternative treatment – but it’s still there. It’s about what I eat. It’s about digestion. Maybe parasites, viruses, fungi?


d)Condition under which the complaint is reduced or you feel better like,cold or hot application,cold or hot weather,position as standing,walking,rest etc.

It tends to get better when I exercise and go outside. Almost no rashes during the day around noon. More at night, especially if it’s warm in the room. It still gets worse when I eat certain foods maybe, but I can’t be sure
anymore. We have stopped recording and analysing everything I eat because I’m already on a very controlled and “reduced” (but healthy) diet!

e)Condition under which the complaint is increased like, cold or hot application, cold or hot weather, position as standing, walking,rest etc.

It tends to get worse when I try to eat things that are hard to digest – like hard-boiled eggs for example. Refined sugar also appears to worsen the symptoms as well as bread (wheat) and oats. I have stopped eating sugar completely. I also never eat bread. I have tried a morsel of organic bread once every two months maybe – and I don’t get a crazy rash like before anymore, but it leads to small outbreaks. I have tried “Vermusan” complex (galium odoratum D6, lycopodium clavatum D6, melissa officinalis D6, strychnos nux vomica D6, rheum D6) for better bile-production, it helped my complaints a lot. With – and after a week of Vermusan it seems I can eat soft-boiled eggs.

f)Any other complaint anywhere in the body.

No.

g)Onset time of troubles in detail, i.e which came first, after that what problem and so on.

It started over-night in December 2013 and at first it looked like psoriasis at the top of my forehead and along my cheeks close to my ears. Then it soon turned into big, red hives all over my body and the psoriasis stopped. It was especially severe around my waistline and elbows and knees and armpits and neck. I was also kind of fat(ish) and had a swollen tummy quite often. At first (1 year 4 months and three weeks ago) a hive outbreak was brought on by everything I ate – all foods – and milk. Apart from milk I generally only drank water and black and green teas when it started. Thus, in the beginning, I only drink water and tea. I started doing enemas – and that helped. After that I could eat apples and cucumber. Outbreaks in the morning when the room was warm and if I ate anything at all. During the day a little better, if I only drank tea and water, worse by evening.

When I had to eat something more substantial, I immediately got huge outbreaks. If I tried a little bit of bread or pasteurised milk, I had terrible, awful outbreaks. I could eat a little cooked meat and vegetables, but got (much) smaller outbreaks with that too. I avoided tomatoes and potatoes (nightshade plants). I started eating only mung-bean soup spiced with curcumin and black beans and fruits and lettuce and cucumber. With mung-beans spiced with curcumin I had outbreaks every time, but my mother said it had a cleansing effect. She also gave me pro-biotics.


h)Treatment method adopted and its result.

Natural treatment, enemas and acupuncture at first – and diet; no sugar, no bread, no milk, no eggs, no potatoes, no tomatoes, at first almost no foods except mung-bean soup and black beans(!) together with mineral water, fermented vegetables, some organic butter, organic fruits and olive-oil, organic, cooked meats, chick-peas, probiotics and sunshine. Then I started an alternative medicine treatment (3 months later) where I took mineral supplements (special 100% natural and complete minerals, no additives) with large glasses of water (preferably water from own well not council) plus C-vitamin, pro-biotics and MSM. Condition then improved very much. Especially after I had had two separate spells of high fever, flu-like fever, but no flu or cold symptoms except that; fever and fatigue.

In Sweden, I was considered quite short for my age (15) when the hives started (when I was a small boy I was considered tall). My father was a little bit worried, it looked like I had stopped growing. I was a little bit fat too. My mother thought it could be water/fluid from some kind of low-grade inflammation – but since it was so perfectly evenly dispersed on my body – she too started getting convinced about it maybe being fat (although I lived on such a healthy diet) especially since my father said he was fat at that age – “baby-fat”. Sometimes my tummy was too big for my trousers, but then it would recede. My mother asked doctors about inflammation and IBS and nutrition-deficiency, but they simply said “He hasn’t had a temperature, so there’s no inflammation, it’s just baby-fat”. When I had started the alternative treatment and the hives started receding, I started growing again. During the first ten days – of the alternative medicine treatment: minerals, MSM, C-vitamin and pro-biotics treatment that is – all the “fat” disappeared! Already after the first 4 days, most of it went away in a miraculous way. I was thin again and felt much better in all ways! During the first days with this treatment I had diarrhoea.

Mung-bean soup with curcumin triggers outbreaks but seems to help in the long run. Now I only get small outbreaks with smaller, paler hives and quite seldom. I eat more diverse foods now, but no bread, no potatoes or rice or tomatoes. Rice triggers outbreaks. I eat quite a lot of butter which works well and I drink boiled milk. Pasteurized milk triggers outbreaks, but un-pasteurised milk does not. Unboiled milk triggers outbreaks as does pasteurised yoghurt. However, I only tried unpasteurized milk that once, since it is forbidden in Sweden. Doctors here (mainstream medicine) suggested that what I suffer(suffered) from is allergies and/or Crohn’s disease or chronic hives, but my mother refused to let me take mainstream medicines aimed at alleviating those conditions.


3. History of diseases in family.

Very healthy family. My father has had smaller outbreaks of psoriasis with stress/digestive problems (very seldom). He has also suffered from pilesat times, and has had a fungus-infection in his right ear that comes and goes (quite seldom). In the days before the first red, big hives started coming, I had outbreaks ( for the first time in my life) of psoriasis on my fore-head and on my cheeks, close to my ears. Then the psoriasis stopped and the hives started.



4. Personal History.
a)About childhood.

Still living my childhood, lovely so far.

b)Academic performance.

Good at school, even though I didn’t like it – the Swedish school-system is in a really bad way.

c)Any major incidents in life and the effect of it on life.

No.

d)How you are satisfied with your sex life, friends, family members, company etc.

I have some friends. Many of my old friends were so “traumatised” by Swedish school and daycare before that, that they are emotionally kind of absent. It sounds a little weird, I know, but it’s true. No sex life as of yet…

5. Habits/Addiction.
No addictions. No alcohol and no smoking.

6. How is your Appetite and Thirst.
Healthy appetite, seldom (almost never) thirsty. I eat a lot of apples and oranges, maybe that’s why I’m not thirsty very often.

7. Likes and Dislikes.
a) I like all meats and all types of fish and butter and eggs and all fruits and vegetables. I especially love apples. I also like bread, but I try to avoid eating it. I don’t drink any soda, but I like to drink a cup of coffee or tea during the day and in early evening. I don’t eat sweets except some Indian sweets made from chickpeas and honey and cooked milk.

b)Anything else about like and dislike of any activity with you or surrounding.

Not really.

8. Bowel movements.
a)Nature of stool, frequency, satisfactory or not.

Loose – during long periods, rather a little at a time. At other times condensed and small compressed-lump-textured. Sometimes small, round lumps. Sometimes good though (even and brown
sausage type) but really not often – and only after 7 months of alternative medicine treatment.

b)Any discomforts associated with stool.

No.

9. Urine.
a)Frequency, nature, volume.
Normal frequency, normal colour – occasionally foamy in appearance. Especially when my complaints started one year ago.

b)Any discomfort before, during or after urination/odour
Sometimes burning sensation about 1 min after urination. Sometimes (once in an entire month) slightly foul odour.

10. For men.
a)Any difference in erection/want of erection/weak erection/Ejaculation early/late.
b)Any other trouble in sex.

No sex.


12. Sleep.
a)The quality of sleep, the quietness or restlessness of sleep,
position of sleep, times of waking and reasons for waking,
need for cover over various parts of the body,
whether the window must be open or closed etc.
common dreams, peculiar sounds or gestures during sleep, etc.

Healthy sleeping pattern. Rarely awake at night. I like to sleep late though – and I get dark rings under my eyes and slightly puffy eyes and
small bags under my eyes. No gestures or weird dreams. I have stopped talking in my sleep though – during these last eight months.

13. Sweat
a)How much, what parts, staining, Odour.
Not much sweating. None or normal, weak smell.

14. Weather
a)Tolerance to heat and cold, dryness, humidity, weather changes, sun,
foggy weather, wind drafts, closed rooms, etc.

I like warm days outdoors (in Sweden that is 23-30 degrees Celsius).

15. Mental Status
a)The quality of the patient's life in relationship to loved ones, family, friends and colleagues. Overall quality of energy available to function in daily life, and under various circumstances.

I like socialising with everyone – preferably adults and older people and young people who are a little older than me. Normal life-energy. I like spending time with my family.

b)Any mental/emotional shocks occurring in the patient's life-grief, major financial losses separation from loved ones, death, identity crisis and other stress in life.

No, not really. I get stressed easily if I have many tasks to complete. i like to work hard – but I like to take my time with it, if possible.

c)Memory,ability to concentrate/comprehend.

Sometimes better, sometimes worse.

d)Are you fearful of anything eg: Animals, people, being alone, darkness, death, disease, robbers, thunder, storm, high places.

I have an obsession which is a fear of losing my intelligence, it started when I got the hives-outbreaks. Fear of toxins in living area; in air, food and water.

e)Are you anxious about anything: if yes, give details.

Loss of the ability to concentrate, and to memorise things.

f)Are you impatient.

Not particularly. But sometimes, yes.

g) Are you doubtful or suspicious.

No.

h)Are you hurt easily (emotionally)how do you react. Does it cause hatred/revenge.

Not particularly.

i)Does your pride get hurt easily.

Yes, but not in an unusual way.

j)Are you depressed, if so, reason/circumstances.

Not depressed. Only anxious about the things mentioned above.

k)Do you like to share your problems.

Not really.

l)Effect of consolation.

Sometimes beneficial, other times not very helpful.

)Do you ever become suicidal when? How.

Never.

n)Memory- quality if poor, for what ( eg. Names, places, people, what you read).

Can’t really say – I’m so anxious about my memory getting worse, that I don’t know what’s real and what I’ve made up.

o)Do you weep easily, effect of weeping, ie, does it make you worse or better.

Not particularly, if I do, it tends to make things better quickly.

p)Are you easily irritated. What makes you angry, how do you express it.

Sometimes I’m irritated by a false look of understanding or if someone doesn’t trust my judgement in something
I’m good at, like areas of IT/computer and music and chemistry-issues

q)Are you destructive.

No.

r)How good are you in making decisions.

Relatively good. Not very, actually. But I’m stubborn (which doesn’t really help).

s)Do you like company or like to remain alone.

Depends on my mood. It doesn’t matter, really. I find joy in both.

t)How seriously are you affected by disorder and uncleanness in your surroundings.

Not in the least – my desk is the anti-thesis of order.

u)How does failure appear to you?

The thought of failure in my own life often scares me.

v)Are there any matters that you deeply dislike?

Injustice, as in parents thinking that you’re lying about some little thing while you are in fact telling the truth. It creates a deep sense of helplessness.

w)What activities you deeply like? How does it affect your mood?

I deeply like reading about medicine (new interest) and electro physics and politics. I’m interested in homeopathy and organic chemistry.
i deeply like listening to music and playing the piano and singing and watching interesting programs on TV with my family.

x)Are you affectionate? How does others sorrow affect you?

I am very affectionate. I am very affected by eventual sorrows my parents have/get. Even though it’s very rare. It’s deeply upsetting to me.

y)Any present fears in your life or future.

I’m worried about the future and my ability to influence it.

z)Any present life or future life desires. ‘

Central crack, normal pink body. Spots at the very rear of the tounge. Very small and few waves round the frontal edges.
Tounge taste - no match. No bad taste.

Very lightly brownish/lilac/blue colour around eyes. Slightly blue-ish tint beneath eyes. Somewhat swollen lower eyelid sacks. Puffy cheeks come and go,
rarely now, though.

take DULCAMARA 30c liquid, 2 drops in a tablespoon water, 3 times a day for 2 days,

{if buying pills then 3 pills, 3 times 2 days, chew it, do not swallow with water}

do not eat or drink anything 30 minutes before and after medicine,

Thank You very much for your help Sir. I will do as you instructed. It is hard to find a company/druggist that will ship oral liquid to Sweden. Also, Boiron products take a while to get here. Would it be OK to buy granules – I suppose it would?

Ten minutes from where I live I can buy Dulcamara X6, X30 and X200 – but none of them are an accurate enough of a potency, right?

I thought I would give you a small update.I took Dulcamara X30 for 2 days and I'm now on the third day. Immediately after taking the first dose I became extremely tired and fell asleep in the middle of the day – which has never happened before in my life. On the second day I got a terrible headache in the late afternoon – also something that has never happened to me before. I also felt the same kind of fatigue in the middle of day – and I fell into my bed quite a while earlier than my usual bedtime.

On the third day (today) I stopped taking the medicine and I had a slight, very slight temperature in the morning. I was extremely tired the entire day – and also; suddenly my back was covered in huge, red hives (Urticaria )– it's been a long time since I experienced an outbreak on that scale. It came on a while after I had eaten lunch and, also, a while after having eaten lunch, I felt a bit nauseous. During the outbreak I had to find a bed and lie down and sleep for a while. After I had slept I felt better.

In the evening (right now) I still feel a bit tired but much, much better somehow – compared to how I felt before I took the medicine. My face also looks a bit better, sharper lines. I guess it must have been a tiny bit swollen along my cheeks.

I will write another update in about 13 days time. Thank you!

I should add that the first day I took the medicine, I only took it twice that day and then three times the next day. Today (third day) I haven't taken any dose. Should I take one dose more? so that I have taken them all? (6) doses?

I apologise for the late reply. The effects of Dulcamara were so astounding that I was in a kind of shock for a while – the improvements in my health below, were also noticed by my parents, I’m quoting them on several points.

feeling calm= more calm

good sleep= sleep quality improved

proper energy level= energy level increased

self control= better

confidence level= better

freshness on waking up= definitely more freshness upon waking

love and affection with others= I was always affectionate – but now I feel more positive about meeting more and new people.

mental freedom or freshness= unchanged or I don’t know – my parents said; increase in mental freedom

loose stools= no loose stools anymore – now they are dense or too dense – and rather little at the time as well as normal sometimes (but more seldom). After Dulcamara I stopped having loose, yellow stools and really small round stools. It was the first time in years that I had normal (even, brown sausage type) or close to normal stools in an even pattern!

After my alternative treatment of 7 months (that I mentioned before) I, to my great relief, slowly started getting normal stools sometimes – and kind of normal stools quite often. But it would still change back and forth to loose stools and constipation during certain periods. After Dulcamara I experienced a more definite type of change – and I've never had loose stools or constipation again after Dulcamara.

change in urticaria= No urticaria after Dulcamara! for a very long time (except the big outbreak I had on the third day of taking Dulcamara X30). A couple of times though, now lately – I have had 5-10 very small, pale hives around my waist and on my right arm close to the elbow. Especially in the evening after having eaten bread (I eat it very seldom) and after having eaten mung-bean soup with curcumin.

any other change you felt= decreased paranoia – but sometimes paranoid thoughts about f.ex. environmental poisons start turning in my mind – much more seldom though. Less puffy cheeks directly after Dulcamara.

Dear Antivirus,

It's been two and half years since I took this remedy, and it's really changed my life. I've never felt a physiological/psychological improvement even remotely comparable to that which followed taking your prescription. In the months following mid 2016, my urticaria never came back, and hasn't come back since. My paranoid thoughts and anxieties faded and virtually disappeared by mid 2017.

It isn't until now, early 2018, that some of these symptoms are resurfacing. The strange sensation in my head has come back, though milder than in 2015. My hypochondria and paranoia have also begun to return. A new symptom, is constantly crackling joints (neck, back) In addition to these, I have other symptoms which are apparently typical of Dulcamara/Damp and Cold:

- Stiffness at nape of neck (very, very stiff)
- Combative, without anger
- Impatience
- Rings under eyes
- Paleness
- Saliva often tenacious
- Almost imperceptible nettle-rash (too small to be a real eruption)

Are these signs I should take another dose of Dulcamara? Or could it be something else?

I am forever indebted to you for your help. You saved me.
