umbilical hernia

my husband has had an umbilical hernia for three years and said it does'nt bother him but only when he works out and does situps, we can't afford to get it removed right now and we have no health insureance we just lost everything in katrina its gotten a little bigger I notice over time around his navel button since hes put on some weight in his stomach. Is there a cure for this after so long to get rid of it naturaly with out him having to have surgery? he would love to get back to working out again but this is stopping him from doing so.please help us thanks,
