Itchy, Scaly, Dry Scrotum and Itchy Anus

Male, Late 20s.

Three Years Ago, one day while I was on a long meditation retreat I started experiencing an itchy scrotum. Gradually, it got worse, until I would wake up in the middle of the night with a burning sensation. The itch was so intense. There would be a dull ache as well the day afterwards. I also had itchy and flaky scalp at this point as well. Now, itchy and flaky scalp is better.

Another symptom I started experiencing many times a few months after this is complete numbness and loss of sensation in the penis shaft after about 30-45 minutes of sitting in meditation.

I went to a dermatologist. He diagnosed it as sebhorreic dermatitis. He gave me nizoral (a shampoo for dermatitis), probiotics, and a gel which included a corticosteroid. I used the steroid for a few days. First time I applied, there was intense burning pain in the scrotum. After this, the itching went away for a while. But it came back after I stopped using it. I stopped using it because I researched about steroid use in the genital area and several sources said never to do this. I've tried many anti-fungals since then and some hydrocortisone. Nothing topical seems to work long-term.

Now, I have itching throughout the day, but more intensely in the early evenings and before bed. I do not have the numbness in my penis anymore.

There is lots of flaky, dry skin on the scrotum and perineum area (worse on scrotum). When I itch, the skin breaks and some redness and bleeding is present (although not overwhelmingly so). The left side of the scrotum feels leathery at certain times. There is a shriveled nature to some of the skin due to the itching. Sometimes, there is a stitching or pinching or stinging sensation when the scrotum is irritated. When I itch, it's almost orgasmic and I feel the heart beating faster.

I try to eat as much vegetables as possible in form of juicing. I am eating EXTREMELY CLEANLY right now. Mostly fruits, veggies in raw form.

This situation causes lots of stress. Any advice and suggestions would be so highly appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please take Nux Vomica 200 (one dose only - not to be repeated on daily basis) - preferably in the evening. Next day, in the morning take a single dose of sulphur 200 (one dose only - not to be repeated daily). Wait for 1 week and then report back.

If medicine in liquid form, take 2 drops of remedy in 2 teasepone of water - thats 1 dose.

If in pellet form, 2 pellets makes a dose.

Avoid coffee. Avoid eating/drinking anything 30 mins before/after the dose.

Regards,
Mani

Hi Mani Jee,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I was researching the indications for Nux Vomica and did not see "itchy scrotum" as one of them. PLease kindly teach me what symptoms I am treating with Nux Vomica.

Thank you so much!

And, sorry, I forgot to mention in the original post that this all started 3 years ago. I've tried many anti-fungals and some hydrocortisone. Nothing topical seems to work.

For itchy scrotum the medicine is sulphur, however, it work good if preceded by nux v.

Hope this clarifies the prescription.

Hi Doctor Mani,

Did I provide sufficient answers in my post? I saw in your other posts you wanted your patients to answer a questionnaire. Shall I do the same so you understand me better?

dhammametta 9 years ago
Yes please.

If you could do that, it would be great.

Thank you very much for your service and care, doctor.

1. Describe your main suffering?

Eczema-like condition on scrotum. Cracking, dry skin, especially on upper left hand side of scrotum. It gets worse at night. When scratched, it often breaks and some pus-sy liquid comes out at times. Not too much liquid. Skin is very sensitive. Sometimes there is a stinging or pricking sensation when the skin is dry. Once I start itching, it's very hard to stop, as the itching and uncomfortable feeling spreads and feels like there is a dull ache if I do not scratch it. The itch does go away sometimes if I do not scratch it, but always comes back.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

I am in pretty good, somewhat athletic shape. My spine is not the straightest but it's not crooked to where people notice. I was diagnosed with slight scoliosis as a child but recently doctors have said it's not a concern. The lower spine vertebrae can be loose at times. I am tall, about 6'0" or 182-3 cm. Weigh about 75-77 kgs.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

I have dealt with depression, although now, it's much better because I am determined to find a cure. A sense of hopelessness, I have experienced. Lack of confidence. It's always on my mind. I used to have gambling/adrenaline addiction. I played poker (was very good) for several years. Now I have stopped for good.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?

Complete hopelessness, a sense of frustration, deep depression. But all this is much better last few months.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

3 years ago. I was sitting for many hours each day. My hygiene was not good. At the time, I was in a very dry, cool place.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?

Usually in the evenings right before bed, and then I'll wake up catching myself scratching sometimes a couple hours after going to bed.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?

I avoid all processed sugars for the most part. I do not eat too much fat or salt. I also avoid caffeine, coffee, tea. Stress aggravates it, so does too much sweat. When I put very expensive raw honey on my scrotum, it does seem to calm the itch down for a while. Same with various oils. But it's only on the surface. Baths with apple cider vinegar and baking soda help for a while but they dry out skin.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

Not sure...Stress causes it to be worse. Traveling is not so helpful.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

I feel better in dry weather. I don't like either hot or cold, but hot is better because my body is warmer.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

I would say I can be moody, restless, somewhat arrogant (although much less after meditation). I can be very opinionated and strong-willed, determined. Sometimes, I can be very lazy and not want to talk with anybody. I used to be very reckless and careless with the body, but now I am learning how to be gentle and take care of it.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?

I generally like thunderstorms. I think it's exciting.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?

Hmmm...I think? Most of the time, I keep it to myself though. I try not to go around talking about my problems. It's probably pride. I don't want to be seen as weak.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?

After much meditation, yes. Most of the time I enjoy being stimulated. I wouldn't say I am particularly sensitive, but I do get tired of it after a short while. I don't seek out pleasure-only things too often like many young people.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc?

I used to have nail biting habit, although it's much less now.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?

I used to have lots of anger toward my parents. Now anger toward mother is very little and we get along pretty well. I can say I enjoy her company. My father and I do not have a close relationship. He broke our family's trust many times, and it's difficult to talk with him now. But anger is much less toward him, it's more I don't seek out contact with him and we don't connect on many levels.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

Fears are not being worthy, not being good enough, struggling with finances like my father. I also fear not being liked by others, especially family and business partners. I used to have suicidal thoughts, but not often at all now.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?

I don't particularly crave any certain thing anymore. I still like fruit, especially watermelon right now because I live in a hot, dry climate. I also enjoy apples, pears. I avoid citrus, coffee, anything that stimulates too much. Sometimes I crave salty fermented foods like sauerkraut and natto and miso. Sometimes I crave fatty foods like avocados and nuts. But I am eating extremely healthy right now, so I avoid almost all processed foods and fried foods. I do my best to eat as much raw as possible, and it's good for my mental and physical energy.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?

I tend to drink more water than a normal person, I think. Sometimes in the evening my mouth gets dry and I am thirsty.

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?

Probably normal, although I have had periods of eating a lot and also periods of eating very little (meditation).

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?

I don't think my body likes dairy, processed sugar, bread, or any processed chemical stuff. I avoid it all.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?

mmm...I stay mostly in air conditioned room right now, but I was just in a hot springs town for about 40 days and I sweated a lot! From everywhere. I think when I exercise or am in sauna, I sweat normally, very evenly through the body.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?

I take probiotics now, so it's very regular, but can tend to be on the harder side. If I don't take probiotics, I can be somewhat hard.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?

Almost every night I am awoken by itch. I tend to sleep on my sides. Probably my right side.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?

Haha, not with this condition, but when it gets fixed, I am sure I will many choices available.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all?

Maybe just a bit more experienced in meditation. I try not to buy anything material (except for good food and medicine). I am not materialistic at all.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

I have tried several over-the-counter anti-fungals and cortisone creams. Also, a couple of prescription anti-fungals and cortisone creams. I have also tried coal tar ointment and several moisturizing ointments. I have not taken any prescription medicines except for maybe 10 antihistamine pills a couple years ago. I have taken all kinds of vitamins and supplements. I have tried applying aloe vera.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?

My dad has issues with prostate. My materal grandmother had breast cncr, maternal grandfather had chest infection, paternal grandmother was blind, paternal grandfather had stroke and lung cncr. Maybe depression runs to some degree on both sides.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.

Tall, Chinese, Japanese, athletic/strong/fit build. Strong/slender-ish face. Sharp eyes. Big feet.

Thanks so much for your time doctor. I look forward to your response.

Do you think liquid dilution is OK? I try to avoid the lactose in any forms...

Yes. Liquid is ok

OK, just ordered it online and should be coming in a couple of days.

The dose is still 2 drops in 2 tsp. of water, correct?

Just full disclosure: I did order Croton Tig 30c yesterday evening before you had responded, based on the Remedy Finder and a couple of other similar threads. I will, of course, not use it without your consent, but just want to let you know.

Many thanks, doctor.

Hi Doctor,

I want to add a couple things:

1. I smoked much marijuana from age 16-20 or so and then on and off again for the next couple years.

2. I had one serious relationship with a girl one year older than me, when I was in high school around age 16. I was in a relationship with her for about 1.5 years. This was quite devastating when it hit and I was depressed for a while. We were very sexually active. She is almost completely out of my mind now (I am 27).

3. My father has had several affairs outside of marriage. This has led to lots of anger toward him. My mother was sometimes very cruel to him in action and words. This has led to my psychological issues with both my parents.

4. I used to play lots of video games and computer games. I tend to have an obsessive mindset.

5. I have spent many months in silent meditation over the last few years (13 months or so). My hard, arrogant, self-centered personality has softened quite a bit over this time.

6. One symptom I can be clearer about: Sometimes there seems to be inflammation inside the perineum, maybe the spermatic cord or something feels enlarged. It gets itchy at times.

7. When this first started, I would get very dull aches in the testicles after a night of scratching. It was like "blue balls". There is not too much pain, now, only rarely when I scratch a lot.

OK, another couple things:

1. I contracted chlamydia around age 17. Took 10 days antibiotics and tested negative.

2. Recently had a STD test done: everything negative except for antibodies for HSV-1 (oral herpes). I have never had external cold sores, although inside my mouth has some canker sores every so often (especially with stress).

3. I also tested very low for vitamin D. I have taken supplements, and now feel completely balanced vitamin-wise.

Hi Doctor,

I just went to my main primary care doctor and received a prescription for 2 tablets of diflucan (fluconazole), an oral anti-fungal. I want to rule out a deep-seated fungal infection.

Will taking these interfere with the aurum met?

What are your thoughts about this medicine? Shall I take it at all? Days before or after the aurum met?

Your thoughts are very highly regarded.

dhammametta 9 years ago
I will hold off on the diflucan for now, doctor.

Awaiting the Aurum in the mail.

I have your symptoms since 25 years ago. No dermatologist have really helped.
What I found out is, I had a candida infesteation.
Doctors and dermatologists said I didn't, but I took the candida treatment and got much better.
You have to be careful because allopathic medicines for candida usually can damage the liver. So I searched for natural medicines that women take, as many women battle candida inside their vagina.
We have candida in the digestive system, it is part of the bacteria we naturally have. But when it over grows, it will cause problems.
Make a search for Apple Vinegar and fungus. I now take a large glass of water with just a bit of Apple Vinegar at night, but haven't figured out how much I should or how long to take it.
I also read that apples and pears have a chemical which kills fungus, so I eat them.
I avoid sugar, including sodas, avoid milk and white bread. I am much better.
I suggest you read about Psorinum, which at some stage it helped me so much.
There is also homeopathic medicine for Candida, it didn't help much.
I want to know how you are doing or if you found some other cure or origin for your symptoms.
