constitutional for 3 years old with recurrent colds

My son who just turned 3 has in average a cold every few months.
His colds always start the same way: he wakes up one morning with a "closed chest" sounding cough, not sure how to explain it but the sound is not good.
This cough "opens up" through out the day when he starts sneezing and getting a runny nose. The following day the cough sounds more open with some phlegm, still sneezing and runny nose.
His cold usually lasts from a few days to a week. I give him honey with turmeric and cinnamon and/or elderberry.

I am sure there is a way to avoid him catching this cold in the first place.
Can a constitutional remedy help?
He also used to have night terrors and homeopathy helped tremendously!!

Thanks for any help.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Describe the personality of the child...his behavior with parents, siblings, outsiders and animals etc.

Describe any peculiarities if any in his general symptoms like hunger, thirst, sweat, stool, urine etc.

Does he like to be in warm or cool environment?

Is he affectionate or indifferent to his friends or other children?

How does he react to touch, caress, hugs etc?

Thank you Rishimba for taking the case:

Describe the personality of the child...his behavior with parents, siblings, outsiders and animals etc.
-he is very sensitive, loves to cuddle and is affectionate. He loves his parents and shows his affection either with hugs, kisses or words.
With strangers he may seem shy at first, if they ask him a question he often wouldn't answer sometimes he hides behind me.
When he sees new kids he sometimes just comes on my lap and watches them for 20 minutes before deciding to play with them.
He is very stubborn and set on his ways.
He is good at ignoring questions if he doesn't care for them.
He doesn't like to sleep or nap.
He is very gentle with animals.

Describe any peculiarities if any in his general symptoms like hunger, thirst, sweat, stool, urine etc.
-Hunger seems to be slight less (usually he eats more) than usual. Thirst also seems to be less. Not sweating particularly, stool regular, urine yellowish.

Does he like to be in warm or cool environment?
I would say cooler as he tends to sweat a lot in the heat.

Is he affectionate or indifferent to his friends or other children?
-He doesn't physically show affection to his friends (no hugs etc) but he likes his friends.

How does he react to touch, caress, hugs etc?
-He loves physicsl contact, also when he watches TV he always tries to get close to either me or my husband. He is very cuddly and likes hugs.

Where does he sweat more and have you noticed any particular smell in his sweat? What does his sweat smell like?

How is his energy level? Does he like to play outside, run around and always be on the move? Or does he like to sit and watch TV with his friends or play indoor games with building blocks etc.

How is his built? Lean or fat?

- he sweats mostly on his head. No particular smell that I could notice.

He usually never really sits down, he always has "projects" and game ideas so he runs from one room to the other. He doesn't particularly like going to the park. Only recent I started letting hime watch TV which calms him down and allows him to sit for longer periods of times. He loves play with anything manual (play-doh, Lego ...)

How is his built? Lean or fat?
- Definitely not a skinny/scrawny kid. He is about 1 meter and weighs 36.6 pounds. He is taller and heavier than average in his age group.

He seems to be a PHOSPHORUS child.

You can give him 2 doses of PHOSPHORUS 200C on a single day, each dose 6 hours apart.

Don't repeat the dose for the next few months.

One dose would be 3 drops in some water sipped up in empty stomach. No food or water one hour before or after.

Thank you,
Should I wait for his cold to pass first?

I may have it in pellets, 3 pellets in water, 1 teaspoon from it?

Thanks

bluesky77 9 years ago
You can give him Phosphorus if he is not on any other medicine. Phosphorus will actually help him in cold.

Dissolve 3 pellets in some 10 ml of water and give him a teaspoon or two.

Hello Rishimba,

Looking at the chart on this website phosphorus.cfm " rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.elixirs.com/phosphorus.cfm
He doesn't seem to be a phosphorus child (doesn't like cold food, no ice cream ...) but will try it and get back to you! I already ordered it.

His constitution al remedy for night terrors was belladonna. Not sure if that would help in this case?

bluesky77 9 years ago
Belladona is not a constitutional remedy. Its just a superficial remedy for acute symptoms.

To me he looks like Phosphorus as I don't see any other child constitutional remedy fitting on him.

He is still very young so his tastes aren't developed. Its not mandatory that every Phosphorus child has to crave ice-cream. Mentals are most important in deciding the constitution.

Thank you for the explanation.
You are totally right belladonna was an acute remedy now that I think of it and it worked! I couldn't believe it!

I am trying the phosphorus and will get back to you!

Thank you so much!

Hello, so I gave my son the 2 doses of phosphorus 6 hours apart.
No changes yet.
He is still congested with a runny nose.
How long should I wait to see any effect?
Thanks

bluesky77 9 years ago
When did you give the doses and in what potency?

If the stimulus is right, the response will be within 48 hours.

rishimba 9 years ago
Gave phosphorus 200 ch
One dose 3 pellets in 10 ml of water, gave 2 teaspoons at 11 am
Another dose at 5 pm

bluesky77 9 years ago
Update after 48 hours:
Runny/stuffy nose improved. Still a little congested.
Improved 90%.

Still has some phlegm in throat.

bluesky77 9 years ago
Don't have to give any further dose. Body will heal itself.

Thank you!

Hello, a cold is creeping back, he has a little of a runny nose and sneezing today. Can I stop it on its track?
Thank you

bluesky77 9 years ago
You can try one or two doses of Phosphorus 200C on a single day.

rishimba 9 years ago
Thanks, I am going to try that.

bluesky77 9 years ago
Unfortunately the phosphorus didn't work this time. The congestion got worse, added a cough then last night he got a ear ache and was up all night. I am taking him to the Dr this morning. Other homeopathic suggestions I could try at this time? I really hope Dr won't give antibiotics.

bluesky77 9 years ago
Try PULSATILLA 30C if he is having ear-ache. Give him once in 4 hours.
