Please help, Dog w Anal Problem, Separation Anx & Shedding

Hello, I am asking for help with a remedy for a lovely shelter dog that I am fostering. She is a beautiful 50 lb girl about 7 years old, and has littered puppies, found as a stray. My problem is she consistently smells like poop even after having the anal glands expressed by a vet at 3 times at 4week intervals. 3 different vets reported that they could not express the left sac as it appeared empty. The right sac was expressed each time. The last time I was with the Vet and the poop was a dark slightly reddish brown, but no bleeding or visible blood. The vet placed her on a course of antibiotics in case there was infection. She also did a fecal exam for worms, were are no visible signs under microscope, it was clean. She has a nodular 3/8” dermal mass beneath the Left Anal Gland that she does not believe is related and she does not classify it as a growth. Paulie, (her name) poops 3 times a day, morning on waking, afternoon and before bedtime. She is the most good natured and pleasant dog that I have ever seen. She is very compliant, very submissive, never soils the house, but she does need us to encourage her to go outside to do business. She will scoot prior to going to poop if we do not take her out and insist she make her business. When we insist that she goes she will comply. She behaved this way even in the shelter. Other history is she sheds quite a bit also. I give her fish oil and other oils to help and they offer some relief. Her skin is itchy from time to time, not the ears or the back side, just in general. She was returned to the shelter after being adopted because she has had severe separation anxiety. She was placed in a metal crate and left alone. She panicked and broke out of the crate. The next day she was placed in a tiny room and damaged and removed the trim from the door to get out.
I have been working with her constantly on this, starting with seconds, and minutes, and we are making success, able to leave her without incident for 20 minutes now alone. When we return she whines but does not damage. She is a sensitive girl that whines a lot. We have managed to progress from her tunneling out of a fence to find me after just a few minutes to the 20 minute mark. She is a Velcro dog, always wanting to stay right by my side, very co dependent. I am teaching her to like being in a bed in a different room and now she is happy to sleep all night long in the crate without incident.
I am giving her some flower essences daily for the separation anxiety. I also give pulsatilla 30 c every day and have given it now for 2 weeks straight. It appears to help. Her appetite is not strong, she rarely drinks water even in the morning, only after exercise which we do daily with her. Please if you can offer some other ideas for the poopy smell it would be most appreciated and any instructions to stop or continue the pulsatilla or change to another remedy we would be most grateful. We would love to keep this lovely dog, but want to get the odor, the shedding and the separation anxiety under control. Thank you for your service and assistance to so many. It is so much appreciated. PV

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Lycopodium 30 twice a day for 3 days then wait for 4-5 days. If there is no change give sulphur 30 in the same way and report back.

Dear Dr. Kadwa, First please accept sincere thanks for your reply. I am assuming that I should stop the pulsatilla, and can you tell me what specific problems will the Lycopodium help with, or the Sulphur? I am beginning the Lycopodium today as instructed. THANK YOU.

Dear Dr. Kadwa,
Hello and first thank you for helping me with this lovely dog. I have done the Lycopodium as you instructed and completed the morning dose today. Her separation anxiety is almost the same, the shedding is actually worse, but that might be due to our climate change. Still, I am giving her oils for shedding and it is worse, so I don't know how much the Lyc might be helping. A big issue for us however, I am seeing some improvement on the anal gland issue. We did have her glands emptied again (3x every 3 weeks) and she is not scooting now but she still leaks a little from her behind requiring her to be cleaned afterwards. I am not sure if we should continue the Lyc or go to Sulphur or another remedy? Also can I restart the Pulsatilla for her along w your new RX as it seems to help her dependency on me. Thank you, I would like to know if she should have a pm dose of Lyc or try another remedy. Best to you and yours, PV

The effect of a remedy cannot be judged within hours. Some minimum amount of dosing is needed to evoke response from the system. So you should do lyc 30 for 3 days and then wait for 5-7 days. The picture should get clear by that time.

Lyc should also help for separation anxiety, puls is not the sole drug for that.

Dear Dr. Kadwa,
Thank you so very much for your reply. I have stopped the LYC now and after 5 days if there is no change, should I then begin the Sulphur or what do you suggest? PV "we might not be able to change the world but if we care for an abused animal we change the world for that creature."

You should give Sulphur later if Lyc doesn't help.

Thank You Dr.Kadwa,
I started the Sulphur today because she appeared to improve ever so slightly, but now she is also itching along with the shedding. I am assuming that I should give for 5 days? Following the 5 day period I will stop but then how often to repeat this protocol? Thank you so much for your expert help.

You should give the remedy for 3 days and then wait for 5 days. You cannot go back to Lycopodium from Sulphur. You will need Calcarea Carb 30 in between. The correct sequence is lyc-sulph-calc-lyc.

Ok, Dr. Kadwa,
I already gave her 2 doses of Sulphur, I will wait till tomorrow in case you have any other advice and if I do not hear from you I will give her SULP for 3 days 2x daily then wait another 5 days before beginning CALC CARB. I am wondering if I should go back to LYC after the CALC CARB since I did not see much improvement. She is itching quite a bit and uncomfortable. THANK YOU. PV

I should also mention that I noticed that she is afraid of the dark, and the whites of her eyes are red. Given that information and based on the fact that I did not see improvement with the LYC, do you advise that I stop with SULPH, or finish with the LYC?
I am continuing with the SULPH today. THANK YOU so very very much!! PV

After sulph wait for a week. Then you may go to calc after doing the assessment of Sulphur';s action.

Dr Kadwa,
We are still in the wait stage after 3 days of the SULPH. However after 4 days from the last dose, the itching is better but yesterday she began scooting again twice and when she had a bowel movement there were linear streaks of blood in the stool. I can post a photo if you wish. I am very worried for her. I also remembered that I was putting in her water something from homeopet called TFLN. I have followed that as directed and put drops in her water for several weeks. It has Phosphorus, Rhododendron, Borax, Theridion, Chamomilla 6 & 30c. I am very sorry I failed to think of this and am beside myself w worry that I have hurt her. I have stopped that after seeing the bloody stool. She is not eating well, she does not drink after rising, and vomited a little bit the morning before the bloody stool. Dr Kadwa, what should I do? Thank you so much. Today she has not had any bowel movement and little appetite.

Please give her Nux Vomica 30 twice a day for 3-5 days.
