What is the danger of taking a repeated dose when not needed?

For example, if someone takes a dose (of 200C for example) and the symptoms are resolved, what would be the danger of the same person taking another dose, even though they did not need to? Would the repeated dose cancel out the effect of the first dose? And therefore would it discontinue the work that the first dose has already done?
