diverculitis- emergency surgery - no symptoms before

I'd just like for everyone to know that sometimes there are no prior signs or diagnosis of diverculitis. My husband took 2 days off work as he had severe stomach pains - only 40- we didn't even know what diverculitis was before this. As a result, he was taken to hospital by ambulance, and within 3 hrs had to have emergency surgery. He had 25cm of his colon removed - perforated - and has a bag, or should I say had a colostomy. We hope at this stage this will be reversed within 6 months. No prior anything, fit as a fiddle, if anyone has been through this, can you let me know what we should expect Thanks

Hi,

My mother-in-low is in hospital - a perforated colon, emergency surgery yesterday evening, a part of it has been removed and she's got a bag for a few months they think. We are all a bit scared and since it is not easy to find information on it I would like to ask you how did it go with your husband and how is he doing now?

Many, many thanks,

Maria
