The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Can I get a fresh set of eyes?

I have been helped for my oldest son, Ethan, in this forum before, but wanted to see if I could get a better handle on what his best remedy match could be.

Here is a questionnaire, hope it's one that is helpful.

Thanks for your time.
Gender: male
Age: 7 years
Body Type: tall & stocky
General appearance: tall, stocky, a little overweight, stomach sticks out. Pale skin, looks tired
Have you used homeopathic medicines before? If so what, and what homeopathic potencies did you use?
Over the years I've used Chocolate, Phos, Pulsatilla, which worked for awhile, maybe 6-10 months. Tried Carcinosinum 200c. Not much change. Nat Mur in more recent months worked for a while, but doesn't do much now. I use Chelidonium for helping some of his bowel problems. (Constipation)

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experiences and happenings.

1. Describe your main suffering?
My main complaints about him are mental. Obsessions, forgetfulness, very untidy, seems ahead intellectually but behind socially and developmentally.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
He seems unhealthy---pale skin and dark circles, cannot sleep in no matter how late he goes to bed, not a lot of vitality or energy, always "spacing out" and doesn't pay much attention to his surroundings. Often has issues with toileting.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
I feel that his problems frustrate his father and I, and probably contribute to him having poor self esteem from always doing things wrong.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Describe the sensation in your own words.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
Ethan has always had problems, always needed extra care and attention, was a very difficult baby, and even now I don't know what to do with him.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? I can't really put my finger on that. He has trouble sleeping and staying asleep.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Example- time, temperature, pressure, rubbing, washing, eating, tight clothing etc.
Anything irritating to the skin bothers him. Scented soaps irritate, too-rough toilet paper aggravates, loss of sleep aggravates, sugar aggravates, being bothered by siblings, etc. Basically many stimuli bother him and I think he prefers left alone where he can lose himself in his play.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)? I'm not sure.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather? He likes warm, dry weather. Cold and wet is his least favorite. He will go out in cold, dry weather, but seems to get too cold. He doesn't care for the wind, I think it makes him a little nervous that a tree may fall.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
He tends to be absorbed in his own mind, and is very forgetful when it comes to everyday things like picking up after himself, putting things away, generally most things related to self-care, hygiene, and cleanliness. Yet he's very intelligent with book smarts. He is very very social with others, yet quiet at home, doesn't talk much about what bothers him. Somewhat stoic.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? We don't really get thunderstorms in our area

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
I think deep down he does, yet tries to appear strong.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?
Yes, everything is too much for him. He tends to be overly sensitive to pain, touch, tickles, smells, has a strong gag reflex and gags at unwelcome or unknown foods, feels regular toilet paper is too scratchy so we buy Puffs with lotion, regular soap irritates so er buy unscented natural soap, cannot bear to have his hair cut, etc.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
Weeping, talking to one self etc?
He is obsessive and always focuses on one thing, whether it's singing the same song for weeks, focusing on a single interest to the exclusion of all others, etc.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?
He seems a little indifferent to us, I mean he loves us, but doesn't always interact a lot.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?
He used to have bad dreams when younger, but doesn't seem to dream about anything disturbing. He doesn't talk about any dreams, anyway.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?
He loves sweets, and craves them. When he gets them, he craves them more and more. He usually had worse behavior after getting them, though.
He cannot stand anything even remotely tart or sour. Even strawberries, or other berries, he will not eat because of being slightly tart. Even Honeycrisp apples are too tart for him. Hr can't stand bitter or spicy, either. Basically it just has to be sweet or mild in flavor. He does like asparagus.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Seems not to have a lot of thirst, just drinks once in awhile. Sometimes wants big gulps of water and then will be fine for hours and hours.

14. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Seems he will want a big meal and then not be hungry for quite awhile.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?
Sour for sure. Foods that he doesn't like or is afraid of, he will gag just from the piece of food touching his lips. He has a very strong gag reflex and I believe this plays into him being unwilling to try any new foods.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? He doesn't seem to sweat hardly ever. He doesn't play hard enough usually to sweat.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
He seems to swing back and forth between constipation and loose stools. He always ends up with stool smeared in his underwear, I'm always having to wash his underwear for him. He tends to wet his pants just a little, often.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
He has trouble falling asleep, will lay awake for hours, but I give him Melatonin which helps him fall asleep. He also tends to wake very early, and seems like he could have used more sleep. He acts better on 12 hours sleep but usually can't sleep more than 10 hours.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?
N/A

20. Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? How are you different from others? I describe him as being so intellectually smart that he has no brains left for everyday life. He has a hard time moving forward in life as in growing up, he seems to dislike having to learn new things and just wants to focus on the things he's already good at.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?
He had a very bad reaction to vaccines at 2 months old, crying inconsolably, screaming, vomiting, diarrhea, etc for 10 days. We did no further vaccines except one DTaP at 4 years old.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?
I and my other son have a sluggish thyroid, we also kidney malformations, I have issues with depression and low energy, his dad has asthma, high blood pressure, allergies, and lately has had diabetes for a few months.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.
Ethan is tall, husky, has a protruding belly, pale skin, circles under eyes. Skin tends to be pinkish and he used to be very warm-blooded but in the past year or so seems colder.

(For Females)
24. If your menstrual cycles are not normal, please describe the irregularities, like pains, moods, flow type, clots etc. N/A

25. What major diseases have you had in your life and when. Please write them in a chronological manner.

He reacted badly to his 2 month old vaccines
As a baby he had reflux, would spit up many times a day and cry after. He sometimes still seems to have heartburn.
He had some ear infections as a baby/toddler and got several rounds of antibiotics.
Around 3 or 4 he started grinding his teeth, this has subsided.
He usually doesn't get overly ill, he is the healthiest of my three children. Two summers ago, he had a bullseye rash on his torso, for which he had antibiotics. It concerned me for Lyme disease.
He has had small, whitish bumps on his arms and legs since he was a baby.
He seems to get allergies sometimes--- stuffy nose, sneezing, coughing occasionally.

Also he seems to regress with toilet training whenever he's stressed out. He will wet his pants, soil his pants, and always has had issues with pooping. Ad a younger child he refused to poop in the toilet and seemed terrified of it. For a long time he preferred pooling standing. Even now, at 7 years old he can't seem to wipe himself properly and usually had to shower after using the toilet. He complains that the TP is too rough. He uses big wads of it because he's afraid of getting his hands dirty.
He is very creative, an excellent artist, very smart. Reads at or above his level, learns fast but often is bored by schoolwork and just wants to draw or watch TV. He is very interested in Japanese and is taking lessons, his Japanese teacher is very impressed with how well he does.

He often gets on my nerves for how much of a lazy slob he is, and how much he forgets instantly what I ask him to do. Once in awhile when he's upset with me or something I said, he will immediately fall and hurt himself on something. He swears it was an accident, and perhaps it was, but subconsciously I guess he just wants to be coddled and pitied and fussed over. He is slow to learn new abilities and gives up easily when the task is hard or boring.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Also once in awhile he gets headaches. They are on the left side of his head, behind and above the temple a bit. Sort of the side of the head. So far I don't know what remedy to use to make them go away. When he was around 3, he would get headaches up the back of the neck, Chelidonium majus would help those. But he doesn't get those kind anymore. He hasn't had a headache in about a month.
