fluid dripping from ears and excema

Both ears present with itch inside and outside. Ear canal fills with fluid (leaves smelly discharge on pillows each night). The fluid is light yellow and sticky to touch, leaving a solid film on fingers afterwards. Forced to wipe fluid away from ears with tissue and have begun to wash them regularly. This dries the fluid, but where the fluid has been, crusty scab formations appear all over the ear and surrouding area. These crusts then itch. If removed, they produce fluid. Ears literally drip with fluid. It is painful on contact to air and very very ugly to look at.

Crusts and scabs are all over ear lobe and around ear lobe, all over middle and lower inner cavities of outer ears and fluid seems to come from the main channel.

This has been getting progressivley worse for the last five years. Doctors have treated it with oral steroids. It removes the problem but immediatly recurrs after a week or so. Topical cream and drops also help, but again, must be applied daily or it recurs.

Seems to get worse when particularly tired, mensturating, but is generally "worse" all the time so long as the creams are not applied. - Only feels better when has gone and that rarely happens.

Sleep well, but wake up with running ears. - Staining on pillows every night.

Sensitive : have had asthma since birth, alergic to cats, dogs and horses ( have none and never in their environment.) - Have tried changing shampoos, washing products, eliminating foods to see if this has any effect and does not.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Graphites -- Psor or Puls -- secondarily.

Try Graph 6x twice a day for 10 days and then wait a week to judge resukts.

I have concluded that chewing a smallest piece of Pencil lead is as effective as taking Graphites medicine. (Many patients cured by pencil)

The post from 'haslemere' could've been written by me. I have exactly the same symptoms and have suffered with this for years. I'm curious to know if the writer found any relief.

Last year I got antiobiotic drops and ointment, which helped temporarily; but the problem came back within a few weeks. The dripping is so bad, it often wakes me up at night.

If anyone else has this problem and has found a long-term solution, I'd love to read about it.

this exact same thing happened to me. you've definitely got a middle ear infection and should see your doctor right away, a course of antibiotics should get rid of it, but it could damage your hearing permanently if you dont get it checked out.
i know this is a homeopathy forum but you dont want to sacrifice your hearing, once it starts to go, thats it, there's no getting it back.

HI. I KNOW YOUR original post is dated a couple of years ago, but I was cured of the EXACT same ailment that you describe and I wanted to share what I discovered.

It all started with an itch inside my ears that just would not stop. This was the Itch from hell! I am telling you there is nothing like it on this earth. The itch is enough to drive a person mad!! If you have it, I feel for you.

After the itch came the fluid. Then, came the scaly skin- first in the ear canal, then on outside of my ear. Then came the swollen ear canal. UGH!

Okay, I tried every possible home remedy I could think of. I do not rush to a doctor for every little thing because I do not have much trouble with my health. I am able to do a lot with advice from forums like this.

So...I tried olive oil, vitamin E (I cut open a capsule), hospital grade white Vaseline, soap and water (this made it worse), salt water, tap water, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, triple-action antibacterial ointment, Lotrimin (for athlete's foot, in case it was a fungus), 1% hydrocortisone cream, Desitin (for babies' bottoms) and I tried an organic cream with lavender to treat eczema.

I tried these separately and in combination. I figured that if I could stop the itch, I could clear up the problem myself. Unfortunately, nothing touched the itch.

I finally broke down and went to my family doctor. I was told that my inner ear canal and eardrum were clean as a whistle. The problem only existed on the visible part of my ear, inside and out. We discussed a possible allergic reaction to a new product I might be using; shampoo, shave cream (I am a guy, by the way). I was advised that, based on what she could see from the scaly skin, the problem was probably caused by a reaction to something I used externally. It was NOT from something I ate or from supplements or the like.

I was prescribed Hydrocortisone Valerate Cream, USP 0.2% to be applied 2-3 times a day.

My bout with the hell fire in my ears lasted about 4 weeks or so. It cleared up 95% in two days. Then I remembered some new liquid hand soap that I started using in the shower just before the onset of the itch (remember the soap and water mentioned above?). I immediately stopped using that liquid soap.

My itch has almost completely subsided and I hope you can find relieve as I did. I know the living hell you are going through. Good luck. -Jack

Hi,
I have the same problem for over 7 years. Stated to itch, then liquid, then scabs and more.... just got worst and worst. Eventually told the doctor, he prescribed a scalp lotion called Elocon (think it had alcohol) it cleared it but comes back if I stop.
