1.5 yr old with high fever and wet, chunky cough

Good morning all,
My little one has just been diagnosed with pneumonia.
He has a very wet, chunky cough...sometimes he chokes on the mucous...sometimes he throws up after the coughing.
He has had a very high fever for 2 days (up to 39.8 degrees c) but that is a little lower now at 37.8.
He is not taking in many fluids at all, often refusing to drink or eat.
I would love some advice on what I can give him to help him heal. I do have quite a number of remedies here at home, and they are all 30c, so would appreciate if your advice could use the 30c strength.
Many thanks,
Joanne

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
what symptoms experienced prior to cough settling in?

what meds/remeies used so far?list all treatments used

when exactly did allthis start?

If your baby has been diagnosed with Pneumonia I would not recommend that you use Homeopathic remedies.

This is because in the case of a child the lung capacity is very quickly reduced by mucous coating the bronchioles in the lung tissue thereby reducing the intake of oxygen and causing severe distress.

You are advised to seek treatment from your nearest hospital and they will give him an antibiotic usually Penicillin either by injection or tablets.

Please act immediately.

Hi Joe and John,

Thank you both for your replies. Yes, Tom has been at the hospital today with an x-ray confirming the pneumonia.
They are unsure if it is bacterial or viral, but are OK to hold off on antibiotics for a day, to see if he is improving. His temperature is down today so they are hoping he is through the worst of it (so am I). He will be checked again tomorrow morning and they will decide again.
I was just hoping to give him something to help with the healing.
Prior to the coughing and fever he had a runny nose for a few days and was out of sorts, but nothing else stands out.
I did give him some Ipecac when he was vomiting with the coughing and that did seem to thin out the mucous a bit.
Thanking you, Joanne

ok--need to manage closely--depends if homoeopathic remedies are readily avaiable or not..

single dose (3 pellets) bryonia 30c..one dose and note effect..

depending where this goes --pulsatilla 30c,-nux-vomica 200c and belladonna 30c/200c need be on hand..and bryonia 200c

no other meds--prefer no antibiotics but i am not there to decide action and act immediate if deemed necessary--you need decide this..

Thanks John. Tom's temp is still down today so that is a great sign..he just still has that horrid cough and now yellow/green nose discharge.
I will give him the Bryonia now and let you know how he goes.
thanks, Joanne

Hello,
I gave Tom 3 x Bryonia this afternoon. His initial reaction was pretty severe...he just coughed and coughed (until he was gagging on it) and sneezed for about an hour. Once this passed he had a bottle which is exciting as he hasn't been drinking much.
This afternoon he certainly has seemed much happier..more his usual self, although he still have the cough.

Hi John,
I gave tom 3 pilules of Bryonia 30c.
Before giving the pilules he had a slightly runny nose. After giving them he started the violent sneezing and coughing. Yes, there was a lot of mucous, mostly clear in colour, with just a few little bits yellow in colour.
He has been miserable all night, struggling to get into a deep sleep, but this could be because he ate and drank quite a bit yesterday and the Dr said his stomach would be sore as the infection is in the bottom of his left lung, sitting directly over his stomach.
His temperature is still down, and coughing but not as often. He is VERY cantankerous..wanting to be picked up and then as soon as I pick him up he wants to be put down, then he cries.
thank you for your help.

What's his thirst like currently?

what of stool and stool characteristics?urine/urination?

John Stanton last decade
His thirst is moderate. He would normally drink a 240ml bottle of formula when he gets upin the morning. Today he has only had 140ml so far.
His stools are normally explosive but are quite dry and dark mustard in colour.
Can't really comment on urine as he is in nappies..but obviously he has had less wet nappies over the past few days.

I am concerned that the Homeopathic remedy that John has suggested has not helped your baby.

I would urge you to have another Xray done to see the damage that the Pneumococcus bacteria is creating in your baby's lung as I would prefer that he is given the Penicillin based antibiotic before his condition worsens any further.

single dose (2 pellets) pulsatilla 30c

take close note of expectoration/mucous charateristics---also when cough comes on --due to exiting circumsatnces..
