Toddler with reflux

Hi there,

I have a 20 month old daughter who is suffering from a number of problems. The biggest problem is that she vomits during meals. She does not eat table foods, and I feed her pureed food, however she does not like to eat anything on her own, nd will only take small bites, and throw away the rest of the food. The only food she loves is pickles.
She cries and thrashes in her high chair as soon as I approach her with a bowl of food, and in the middle of the meal she vomits, sometimes several times during a meal. She has also been suffering from constipation, which we have recently been able to relieve with Chinese herbs.
A couple of other things, she started walking very late, at 18 months old. Otherwise, she is meeting all her milestones, and is a very happy, affectionate baby. She doesn't sleep well, and is still asking to be breastfed many times a day and night.
She also has dry skin on her legs and her hair is still very short and dry/lifeless.
I'm not sure what else to include here, but if anyone is able to help us, I'd be happy to provide more information!

Thank you in advance for ny responses!

Worried Mommy

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
It is possible that your daughter does not want food as she is constipated and feels full.

Nat Phos 6x (biochemic) should help her to send the food down. Dose is 1 tablet after a meal and it can be given crushed or dissolved in water. This will also help her constipation.

I can try to help her dry skin but shall await your response to her gastric problem, before I indicate a remedy for the dry skin.

Please indicate if this problem has been diagnosed as Eczema.

Have you vaccinated her recently ?
Did she develop her problem after ?

Hi Joe,

Thank you for your quick reply. Her constipation has gone away since we started her on Chinese herbs about 2 months ago. She is now having bowel movements twice a week, which is a huge progress for her.
Her dry skin has not been diagnosed as eczema, as we haven't seen a doctor for this issue yet. In the town where we have just moved to it is very difficult to find a doctor accepting new patients. Dry skin doesn't seem to bother her, nor it appears itchy or different in colour/appearance than the rest of her skin, just feels sandpaperish dry to the touch. This is on her lower legs all the way from her knees to her ankles, and also a small patch on the left side of her belly.
My daughter has never been vaccinated.

Thank you again, and please feel free to ask any other questions you might have.

Your baby must have a motion daily as otherwise she will have a problem with eating.

You have my advice and it is up to you to decide between the Chinese herbs and Nat Phos 6x.

Hi Joe,

I'd be happy to try the Nat Phos, but read on another post that it encourages weight loss. My daughter is not very fat, in fact, she is kind of thin, and I would hate for her to become even thinner. My other concern is that you mentioned on another thread that Nat Phos helps the food to move quickly through the intestines, and I am wondering about the nutrient absorbtion if this is the case? I appreciate any clarifications in case I have misunderstood something.

In the dose that I have recommended of 1 tablet I do not think that it can interfure with her weight. You can even use half tablet for a start, twice daily. It helps to accelerate the passage of food and hopefully will improve her motions and her appetite. This does not imply that it will prevent the absorption of her food.

All I can state is that it cannot hurt her and may be worth using for a few days to see if it can help to get her out of her present problem which is more in the nature of a vicious circle.

Nat Phos 6x taken by obese adults will reduce weight safely but I do not think that in the dose I have suggested it can reduce weight in your baby whose present problem is aversion to food.

Can you please list the problems faced by your baby. Also tell about her thermal preference like whether she prefers warm surroudings, cold surroundings. Similarly tell us at what time during the day she is better and at what time she is worse.
