Woke up with right parotid gland swollen and earache

Hello,

A couple of days ago I took Arsenicum Album 200C one dose before bed due to constant anxiety for several days bringing immense fatigue. It calmed me enough to let me sleep, and anxiety has lessened each day, and is almost gone. However, today I woke up with my right parotid gland swollen and pain in my right ear from it, I assume. It's not so puffy that anyone else would notice unless they looked closely. Seems to start behind the top of my cheekbone, and extends just below my jaw.
I see that arsenicum album is often used for parotid gland issues. I am wondering if arsenicum is clearing something out, or if I should actually take another dose? Thank you for any advice.

Hi,

If you have had a similar problem in the past,
It could be bringing it up again and then it will
Release it. If you have never had it before, it
Could be a “proving symptom” meaning a new
Symptom showing up, because too many doses
were taken or potency was too high.

Either way, you need to wait and watch. It will subside.
If you still have this after a week or so, then it
Could be you have an actual virus and at that time
You could try another remedy for symptoms.

Ibrahim3,

I am not sure how much history you are looking for. My health issues are quite lengthy as I am 47, so cannot go into them all just yet. My biggest hurdle is having multiple chemical sensitivity for 20 years. As for anxiety, it seems to come on randomly for no apparent reason. This time, however, it came on after a conversation I had, that brought up a lot of history that I have been trying to get over, and thought I had put it all behind me until one thing was said, that sent me into a tailspin out of nowhere. This has to do with being hurt emotionally very deeply by someone I love. After this conversation earlier in the week...and it was a very innocent conversation by the way, one thing was said that shouldn't have meant anything, but unfortunately, it started unlocking a lot of doors I thought I had closed. I became very anxious, heart racing, and after 24hrs of this, it became full on exhaustion. I could not function well as I just needed to rest, but couldn't because of the anxiety. After 48hrs of it though, my body gave in to sleep after taking the arsenicum. I did have to move to my recliner after a few hours of sleep, and continued to sleep there. Each day has been much better, and it is barely noticeable now.

I have had constipation in the past, but in general I am not constipated. I typically have a bowel movement every morning, and sometimes also in the afternoon or evening. So 1-3 times a day is typical for me.

Headaches are not something I usually have. I do get migraines if I have many nights in a row without much rest. I have had long bouts of insomnia for the past few years. This was brought on by being a caretaker for my father who had dementia, and a lung catheter, and multiple health issues. I was in a constant state of stress this whole time, but the last year was the worst, as I was checking on him every 45 min, so it makes sense that insomnia was an issue because of circumstance. I am working on it, but typically get 4-5 hrs of sleep a night, but not all at the same time, and find it hard to go back to sleep sometimes. Usually it is when my mind starts racing about those in my life who have treated me badly..family and loved ones. Some don't understand my chemical sensitivity, and it has brought a lot of negativity towards me.

Personality wise, I am very unselfish, caring, giving, attentive, passionate..but my passion can be easily mistaken for aggressiveness. I speak with a lot of emotion. I do anger easily, upset easily, take things to heart. I feel others emotions, and will cry at a stupid commercial sometimes. I do worry about family and friends, and will put others needs far before my own, which in turn ends up hurting myself. I find it hard to say no when asked for help, but will stand up for myself and others if need be. I can be argumentative. I think of things to the nth degree, and try to see things from all sides. I am not tidy, but at the same time I like order. Things may look messy, but I can tell you where things are. I am naturally thin, but after 23 started gaining weight due to emotional issues. Food is something I do enjoy. I hate exercise unless it's walking or swimming. Love thunderstorms and rain. Cold temperatures wear me out to the point of having to nap if I am out in it even for a short time. Windy days can make me dizzy if my ears are not covered. I have a history of otitis media in my left ear, but had swimmer's earaches growing up in both ears.
I love salty foods, sweet foods, spicy foods, rich foods on occasion. I love meat and vegetables, and prefer warm foods over hot. Am not a coffee drinker, and alcohol is not something I indulge in, and actually can't stand the taste of either one. I will drink cappuccino or an alcoholic beverage on occasion, as long as they don't taste like coffee or alcohol. LOVE Kahlua though on a rare occasion, oddly enough.
I could go on and on....
Weakness was more than restlessness at the time of the anxiety. It was pure exhaustion from the anxiety literally wearing my body out.

My daily routine:
I work from home online, so I do lead a very sedentary life because of that. I literally am online at least 12hrs a day, which leaves me little to no time to clean. So my house has been in disarray for the last 5 years taking care of my father, but part of those years, I also was caring for my elderly grandparents next door, and my mother before that. Since 2012 I have been a caretaker for various family members on a daily basis until my father passed away August last year. I was in a constant state of stress and mere survival mode. I still am in survival mode, as I work all day for roughly $15. So, the state of my home is mainly due to circumstances, not how I want it to be. If someone came in they would swear I am a hoarder, and to some extent I am. I also run a fb deal group, and when I can get things free or nearly free, I grab them, and do have tons of items from those deals. I had started doing that so that one day when everyone passed away, I would have a safety net to sell to make money. I have started selling some, but other things I find hard to part with because I or someone will need them. I am slowly working on it, but various other health issues and work keep me from it. I also am a procrastinator, and that figures into it also. I seem to work well under stressful situations, or will come through with what needs done.

The anxiety is recurring yes, and usually, I cannot pinpoint the cause of it. Sometimes it is due to not drinking enough water I think. I drink water only all day every day 95% of the time. Only water. I have ginger soda or root beer on rare occasions. I do prefer carbonation, but I know it is not healthy. I drink roughly 80oz of water a day, and weigh 210 at 5'3". I definitely need to lose weight.

Before the anxiety no not physically active.

I am always thirsty no matter how much I drink. I have been this way for years and years.....so long I cannot remember a time I was not thirsty. My lips are always chapped, always as if dehydrated. It's as if my body does not absorb the water I drink. I do have to get up to urinate usually every 2hrs sometimes more. However, I have noticed since taking the arsenicum that I do not need to get up as often. I usually get up all through the night, every couple hours sometimes, other times I can sleep 4 or 5 if I am lucky. The last couple of nights it has been 4 or 5 hours before I have gotten up. I hope it allows me to sleep longer at a time. I usually wake up feeling like I hadn't slept, but that seems to have also improved for now.

I do snore a lot, and I do talk in my sleep.

I have eye complaints such as strained eyes, but think it is from so much computer use. They feel dry and strained a lot. Vision is blurry when trying to read far away like captions on the tv, and it is approximately 8'away and is a 43" tv. I cannot afford to go to an eye doctor, but glaucoma runs in my family along with a whole multitude of other health issues, so it is something I am concerned about. Occasionally, I see flashes of something out of the corner of my eyes, usually the right side.

My body temperature my whole life was always cold hands and feet, but the last few years I do not have that issue. I would say normal. However, during the anxiety, my feet were freezing.

I have been in menopause and have not had a period the last few years except maybe once a year...maybe. I have recently started again though, but not sure if it is just the once a year thing or not. It's very very light with no pain which is very different from how it was my whole life. I had endometriosis, and do believe I have it in my brain as I always get pressure on the left side of my head before my period starts. Even though I haven't had it for years, I still got that this week when my period started out of nowhere. Only lasts one to two days now compared to 7+ earlier in my life. I had a laparoscopy for my endo and also had appendix out at the same time back in 1994. Actually, that was when all my chemical sensitivities began also, but did not know it at the time.

During the anxiety, yes I did have foul smelling gas. Usually, I do not.

One thing I have noticed the last few months is the right side of the underneath of my tongue seems to enlarge for no reason at random. It's as if it is too big for the area of my tongue to fit in my teeth, and wants to go over the top of the right molars because it is too big. Almost as if something I eat I am reacting to. It is off and on. I am wondering if my salivary gland on that side has been having issues, and that is coming through with this parotid gland issue after taking the arsenicum. It is thicker and swollen right now on that side after eating lunch today, but was not before lunch. I had pork tips and white mushrooms, bread and butter. I am mainly putting that here for reference for me later.

Simone717 the above paragraph very well could be tied to this.

The pain in my ear is completely gone now, and the swelling is greatly lessened. It no longer hurts to touch that area of my face. I had used a near infrared lamp for 15 minutes after I posted this morning here, and that seems to have helped immensely in relieving this issue. I had a lot of drainage also in the back of my throat 20 min after the therapy lamp.

One thing I forgot to mention that has been constant for years and years in both ears is tinnitus. It is still there and has not lessened at all. Some days are better than others, but it's quite loud today. It's like a constant interference with a bit of a higher pitch in the middle of it. I used to wonder if it had to do with the electric fields, but our electric was out for 18hrs last week, and the sound was still present.

I do have a lot of food allergies also to mangoes, pistachios, cashews, basil and marjoram...those are the worst ones and I will get an immediate reaction. Other allergies to foods do not seem to give me a response unless consumed a lot many days in a row.

I also have lung and skin issues the last few years, but I'll wait to say more til I find out if you want me to elaborate.

A) I'm regular because of diet
B) No
C) Mentally restless, Physically weak
D) Explained in detail above, but sedentary for short
E) Anxiety has come and gone for years, the exact issue with the parotid gland had not happened before, but I do have issues with salivary glands as I explained above.
F) Inactive
G) ALWAYS THIRSTY....always as long as I can recall cannot drink enough
H) Normal last few years, but before that was always cold hands and feet
I) Yes, but that is not typical
J) Yes, it got better after I took the arsenicum and did light therapy with a near infrared light and took colloidal silver.

The parotid issue is now resolved since I did the other therapies. I am thinking that arsenicum is going through and resolving some things with my glands. I have many glandular issues. I know it can work for up to 30 days, so I guess I wait and see what else comes up. Thank you.

Hi Ohio

I would suggest you to take Phosphoric acid 10M 4 drops "Only Once".
Its not for only parotid issue but all your symptoms combined. Give it a few days to work on your body & mind.
May be after this you can carry on with Ibrahim's advice. Its your call.

Take it directly on tongue(4-5 drops) or with some water on an empty stomach.Don't have any water/food half an hour apart and Don't repeat it. Refrain from Coffee products for time being.
