Dosage: "Trituration" and "Potency" question
What is "second and third trituration" in an X or C potency? (See Aur Mur Nat.) Also, what is "First to sixth potency" in an X or C potency? (See Lapis Alb.) Help would be much appreciated. Thank you.Oostiorto on 2019-04-13

First and second trituration would be 1x/2x and 1c/2c for X and C potencies respectively.
First to Sixth potency here again they only refer to 1x to 6x and 1c to 6c respectively for X and C scale potencies.
Then one would have a question if they just are the same potencies then why differentiate between them viz trituration and potencies? The difference lies in the way the potencies are prepared.
Whenever potencies are referred to in general, they generally refer to liquid potencies prepared by mixing medicinal substance in liquid media like water or alcohol. Trituration on the other hand is a method in which medicinal substances are mixed with lactose or milk of sugar and is used to prepare solid potencies.
Medical substances that are not soluble in water and alcohol and poisonous substances are prepared using trituration method.
