This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
MT straightaway can irritate skin, put some drops in water and then apply. Or there could creams or ointments available.

I have been applying it with rose water..is this okay??

Should be ok if you don't have any burning or related discomfort.

Rose water is cool and really soothes skin.

is it good for long term use?

If you are talking about rose water yes.

If it's about Berberis A, then it's fine to use for a reasonable time period. These external stuff needs to be applied for 8 weeks or so to see results. As long as your long term view is for a few months or so, ok. But if your view exceeds a year, then it may not be as good. At any time if you find application is persistently aggravating, its right time to stop.

use it twice a week....

The frequency of repetition is fine. You could continue this safely for a few months unless you are allergic. If you see any inexplicable discomfort or aggravation, you should stop and reassess. Otherwise this should be fine.
