lyme disease - als?

I was just diagnosed with ALS - it all started two years ago when I was bit by a deer tick and the Dr poo poo'd it and said if it got infected to come back. Well now I have all these problems - cramps in the neck, tongue, hands, legs - pain all over, my mouth is so dry I feel like I'm eating dirt - the Dr's tested for ALS and say this is what it is -- I am convinced I have Lyme Disease and want to know if anyone has any homeopathic remedy's for any/all of these symptoms. Help please - I'm slipping away!

KM, I'm no help, but just wanted to say that I agree that the Lyme bug is probably at the root of the ALS. And since Lyme is immuno-suppressive, it probably opened the door to other microbe problems, as well.

After years of fatigue, and chronic back & rib pain, etc., I found out in December that I have the Lyme bacteria in my blood.

So, I am looking for answers here, too. Western medicine does not have much to offer us.

beatms - I will definitely check out your website - thank you!

Tracy - are you on the east coast? There is a terrific Dr in Hyde Park, NY -- let me know. I went there this week and am on antibiotic and some supplements - I have faith that this will be reconciled - I hope soon but I am not giving up!

No, km, I’m smack in the middle of the country in a state that still doesn’t think we even have Lyme Disease. Sheesh. There is a Lyme doc that moved into my state who is about 300 miles away, and he cured himself of ALS by treating his Lyme Disease.

I think I may know the name of the doc you are seeing…… Good for you for getting treatment from a “Lyme Literate” doc!! As yet, I have not chosen to go down the antibiotic path, but I certainly can’t rule it out if I don’t find something else.

I don’t know exactly where you are, but there is a good – but not as well known - M.D. in Rockville, MD who treats Lyme with homeopathy. I have met someone who got rid of 90% of her chronic Lyme symptoms in 5 months using just homeopathic remedies. Then she panicked when she got a positive RA test, and switched docs. But I still think her story is pretty impressive.

If you are interested, here is his website so you can get his name and address. You can’t post URLs here, but see if you can copy and paste this:

If that doesn’t work, here’s a longer version:

I wish I could help more. And you are right – don’t give up.

Tracy - thanks for the input. The Dr I am seeing is actually 3 hrs from home but my kids took off work to take me - I could have never made it myself. We live in PA and Dr is in NY -- you should try online at www.ilads.org for someone closer in your area - that's where I got this docs name. Gotta go for now

Thanks, km -

Been there, done that. I do have a small list of docs... The closest ILADS doc is 300 miles away over 2 mountain passes. And he is totally 'antibiotic oriented', so again, not sure if I am ready to go the antibiotic route yet.... that's why I met you HERE, lol.

I don't know of any good ALS support forums, but for Lyme, I recommend the LymeNet discussion forum - lots of talk both about antibiotic therapies of all kinds, plus alternative treatments, too. I know I have seen a couple of posts about ALS.

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?

or just Google LymeNet, and you will probably get there.

It does help to learn what others are doing....

Hope you have great results with this doc!
