Palpitations on waking up

Hi

I am a 45 year old male. In Aug 2020 one day morning I experienced tachycardia, palpitations, racing thoughts, heavy breathing stomach restlessness, nausea, belching & flatulence. Seemed like I was losing control. I lost inclination to eat or drink. I was restless & could not sleep well. Next day I consulted an allopath who advised me Esomeprazole tab & Placida Tab one each to be taken in the morning and propranolol cap and Etilazolam 0.5 mg one each to be taken in the evening. I responded well to the treatment became calm, stomach restlessness & associated symptoms resolved in about 2 weeks time. I resumed normal diet. Slept easily & well for 7-8 hours daily. I also started using peppermint tea 1 cup after lunch and chamomile tea one cup before going to bed. My allopathic treatment was stopped after about 4 months in the first week of December 2020. I still continue to take peppermint tea after lunch & chamomile tea after dinner. I do brisk walk daily 1 km after lunch & 1 km after dinner. For the past 2 weeks I am experiencing palpitations on waking up in the morning. I also experience flatulence & belching along sometimes. They resolve on rising & walking and by stretching my body. I do not necessarily experience tachycardia when this happens. My night time heart rate is between 45-70 bpm. My average resting heart rate is around 60 bpm. But when palpitations occur it races between 80-100. Once I wake up I can't sleep again. However, as they are happening almost daily it has made me worried. I am no able to get full sleep, I sleep only for 4-5 hours now. While going to bed I am always thinking what will happen tomorrow morning. I feel dull & sluggish through the day. All my attention remains on my heart & I am unable to focus. I keep on checking ECGs & heart rate on my Apple Watch. Seems like sympathetic system has taken over my heart & controlling it. I feel emotionally week & tense with dull pressure on my head & eyes. I am always thinking of why is it happening & how to bring an end to it. My office work tends to suffer because of this & that adds to my agony. Walking around helps reducing the tension. I replaced my bed time chamomile tea with Twinings superblends tea for sleep (has passion flower, chamomile, vanilla and spiced apple). Taking it for past 2 days & it does make me drowsy & fall asleep in half an hour. I consulted my allopath again, showed him ECGs which he said were normal. He asked me to take Etizolam 0.25 on SOS basis. However, I don't want to be on allopathic medicines again & for long. Hence, seeking help from homeopathy. Of note, I have been a workaholic all my life working 12-14 hours a day, have a desk job, corporate stress as usual. I was very fond of junk food (hard-core vegetarian), overweight 96 kgs with a height of 180 cms. Had frequent gastritis with diarrhea & constipation alternating which I treated through allopathic treatment. Have history of acute sinusitis. I am sensitive to exteme cold, can develop rhinitis due to it and extreme hot weather, sweat profusely. Due to COVID19 pandemic working from home since Mar 2020. I rarely venture out except for short trips once in 2-3 weeks to help my car battery & engine stay alive. I have meetings through the day so need to be on my computer for 10-12 hours. During this work from home routine I had a strict control on my diet, no junk food only plain & simple home cooked food. I was able to lose 12 kgs of weight in 4 months. I now weigh 84 kgs. BP ranges from 110/60 mm hg to 130/84 mm hg. Blood sugar fasting between 80-100 mg/dl. I have limited thirst & do not drink lots of water. Please help me.

I wanted to update on my experiences today. I have not yet started the remedies advised as I await to receive them from pharmacy. However, I am sharing this to ascertain that this does not change the remedies & course of treatment prescribed. Today morning at ~5 am while I was asleep I felt a chilly sensation running through my body followed by pressure on left part of the chest. This woke me up & when I checked my heart rate it was at 118 bpm. My heart rate remained high (close to 90 bpm) for 3 minutes & then settled back to normal. I became tense & could not sleep after that. This experience is different from what I reported earlier as today it happened while I was asleep & not when I woke up. Then around 3:30 pm I suddenly felt chilly, drowsy, fatigued & heaviness in my head & eyes. I checked my HR & it was at 94 bpm. It remained between 90 - 95 bpm for 3 minutes. I laid down flat on bed as I felt very tense & exhausted. It took me more than an hour to regain my strength.

Hello Dr. Anuj

I received the medicines yesterday and started taking them today morning. I feel drowsy, yawn a lot, have flatulence, belching,  malaise,  heaviness in head & slight pain in chest (left side) after each dose of Kali phos & Ferrum phos tablets (5 each). These persist for 1-2 hours after dosing. Hope it is OK and nothing to worry about.

Hello Dr. Anuj

Took first dose of Nux Vom yesterday night before dinner and Ferrum Phos 6x after dinner. Felt very drowsy and was sleeping in next 2 hours. However, woke up at ~4 AM IST with a feeling that some heart sensation/palpitation will happen now as has been happening for past few days at the same time. However, nothing happened and I slept again at ~5 AM. Slept for 9 hours overall. It has been after ~2 weeks that I slept for 9 hours. During the day time a friend called to inform demise in his family. On hearing this felt very tense with heaviness in head, slight pressure in chest and was unable to focus on anything, felt helpless. Was unable to understand how to handle this. Just laid down and was settled in about an hour. Otherwise, overall feeling ~60% better after taking Nux Vom as advised. Should I continue taking Nux Vom & Ferrum Phos as advised or any change required.

Hello Dr. Anuj

Yesterday night could not sleep as had several episodes of heart related affections. First I woke up at ~1 AM. I noticed that around that time my heart rate had suddenly jumped from 52 bpm to 91 bpm. After waking up I felt that as if I was highly alert and showed no signs of sleepiness or urge to go back to sleep. As I was feeling nervous and was unable to sleep again I took a tablet of Etizolam 0.25 mg and went back to sleep. Then I again woke up at ~4 AM as I felt a chilly & nervous sensation racing through the heart & body. I could not sleep after that, just kept lying on the bed. Wanted to bring this to your attention for any action required.

Hello Dr. Anuj

It has been a week since I have taken treatment as advised. Feeling ~75% better. In this week there have been 2-3 episodes where I felt anxious, restless and tense with heaviness in head, belching, flatulence and stomach discomfort. Otherwise doing good. Should I repeat Nux Vom or any other remedy.
