Burning in Scrotum/Testes

Hello,

I have a varicocecle (which I've never had pain from) and an enlarged prostate (BPH). I take an herbal supplement called Alpha Viril which helps with the BPH, but I still have some trouble with dribbling after urination. I read about a technique on a Harvard website to help with dribbling: "Right after your urine stream stops, "milk out" the last few drops of urine. Using the fingertips of one hand, begin about an inch behind your scrotum. Gently press upward. Keep applying this pressure as you move your fingers toward the base of the penis under the scrotum. Repeat once or twice. This should move the pooled urine into the penis. You can then shake out the last few drops."

I tried this method for a few days starting about a week and a half ago. During this same time, I had a first date with a new woman, and I was probably a little more aggressive than normal with washing my groin area and testicles with body wash and a mesh shower puff. A week ago, about 30 mins after showering, I got an intense burning in my scrotum. This lasted for several hours, and I had a lot of difficulty sleeping. By morning, much of the burning had subsided, but by that afternoon I was having burning in my sides, lower back, and sometimes stomach. No other pain, just burning. I immediately stopped the dribbling technique the night the burning started, and have not used the shower puff or body wash since.

I went to my family doctor who examined my testicles and didn't think there was any trauma. Basic urinalysis showed nothing abnormal. I had no testicular pain when he did the examination, and I actually was having very little burning when in his office and later that day. He said if problems remained, he would prescribe antibiotics.

These are the results of urinalysis:

SPECIFIC GRAVITY 1.015
GLUCOSE Negative mg/dL
PROTEIN Negative mg/dL
BILIRUBIN Negative mg/dL
UROBILINOGEN 0.2 mg/dL
PH 6.0
BLOOD Negative mg/dL
KETONES Negative mg/dL
NITRITE Negative
LEUKOCYTES Negative WBCs/uL
APPEARANCE Clear
COLOR Light Yellow

Burning returned later that night, and has been with me mostly since. There may be slight swelling, and scrotum seems warmer than normal. I'm able to sleep, but the burning in scrotum, back, and sides comes back once I'm up and moving around, sitting, driving, etc.

I don't really have burning when urinating.

I don't have very good insurance, so I don't think I can afford to go to a urologist and/or dermatologist at this time. So, I don't know if I could have some kind of infection like orchitis, epididymitis, uti, etc or if it's some type of skin irritation. At times, the burning nearly goes away completely, but I'll still have the lower back and sides burning.

I had a uti about 15 years ago. Two days ago, I started taking a capful a day of a cranberry concentrate, Vitamin C powder, two teaspoons of honey, and berberine in case I have a uti.

I don't take any prescription meds. In addition to the Alpha Viril, I've been taking butcher's blend and horse chestnut for about a month, which eliminated a hemorrhoid problem I was having.

I contacted my doctor to tell him that the symptoms were persisting, and he prescribed cipro antibiotic. I have not started taking it, though, because I'm concerned about side effects.

Thank you, Anuj.

Do you think my issue is skin-related or an infection like epidymitis?
