Calcarea Carbonica causing pains to move from lower lumbar region to upper right leg

Female, mid-70s, diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis causing much pain when walking, and moderate Parkinson's symptoms (rigidity of movement of feet instead of tremor). Ongoing for a number of years. Occasional venous ulcer just above ankle. Occasional feeling that spine is fixed like stone or calcified.

After trying a few different remedies, found that Calc. Carb. repertorised well.

Tried 6c twice a day for a few days which seemed to improve hip and lower back pain, but produced new pains in the right leg which seemed to involve the veins.

(Had tried Rhus. Tox 30c before that which seemed to shift any pain on the left side to the right side)

Good general improvement from the Calc. Carb. 6c after 3 days, pain in right leg had gone, so stopped taking it.

After 1 day passed without taking Calc. Carb., there was an immediate disimprovement the next day in terms of mobility.

A pain in the spine around the neck region appeared which had never happened before. This disappeared over the next few days.

Started taking more infrequent single doses of Calc. Carb 6c which didn't seem to help much, pains still coming and going.

After two weeks, tried Calc. Carb. 30c for three days. Mood much improved. Painless venous ulcer on back of lower right leg which had appeared healed quickly.

Unusual pain in back of calves and thighs in both legs. Some "muscle pain". However, there seemed to be a strong aggravation of symptoms over next few days, I think due to too many doses of 30c.

After 10 days passed, good general improvement.
Lower back pain comes and goes over next two weeks.

Another single dose of 30c, gives an improvement the next day.
Again pain coming and going for another week.

Takes another single 30c yesterday, lower back pain feels better, but pain appears in upper right leg again - worse when walking, ok when resting.

"From the back side of the hip to the upper side of the leg, she feels like her leg veins are pulled"

My question is -

It seems that the Calc. Carb. is having an effect, although it appears to be consistently shifting the pain from the lower back to the upper right leg, with a sensation as if the veins are involved.

Does this need more ongoing or more frequent doses of Calc. Carb. 30c?
Or, a move to Calc. Carb. 200c or higher?
Or, an alternative remedy to address the upper leg pain?
Or, is it just an aggravation which is to be expected in this situation?

If anyone has experience of this type of situation I would be very happy to hear their thoughts.

Thank you.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Continue with calc
In addition
Give Arnica M 200 05 drops in water / 05 pills single dose only
For pain in the upper right leg
Post symptoms as when there is a difference

Thank you. That sounds like a reasonable idea, however the pain seems to be more of a 'drawing' type rather than 'bruised'. We may try Conium first to see if it helps.

I'm also interested if anyone has experience in repeating Calc. Carb., since there is some advice against too frequent repetition -

"Should not be repeated too frequently in elderly people."

Due to the issues in the lower back the upper right leg had to compensate for the movement of the body and it has been traumatised
Hence Arnica has been prescribed
Conium has to match the mental symptoms too
Choice is urs

Thank you for the explanation, it makes a lot of sense.

I've just noticed that Arnica is indeed listed in the Kent repertory under "Pain, Drawing, Hip".

Conium seems to also cover some drawing hip pain, however we were mostly going to try it due to the Parkinson's symptoms of ascending paralysis. However, perhaps the Calc. Carb. covers this already. Conium covers some mentals, but probably not as much as Calc. Carb. I think we can try it once or twice then if there is no result go to the Arnica.

I believe we did try Arnica earlier and it seemed to aggravate the lower back pain, however that was before finding and giving Calc. Carb. so the action might be different now.

Thanks again for your help, I will post back with any update.

Post symptoms
And
Post diagnostics only then the right comparison can be done
It is confusing if you consider it piecemeal to arrive at a remedy
It is the symptoms which are prime then medical history of the patient and parents and grandparents too

I appreciate that, I didn't want to write a wall of text containing every minor symptom as people will tend to skip over it if it's too long.

The effect of Calcarea moving pain from one area to another seemed interesting enough by itself to warrant a post, and your explanation about the leg compensating for the lower back issues is very helpful and seems entirely plausible.
