Pneumonia Chicken
Hi, I have a chicken that I believe has pneumonia. She has trouble breathing. Her mouth opens when she breathes in and she wheezes. She sneezes but otherwise no discharges, no coughing. She scratches at her face but can't tell if it's the nose or the eyes. She doesn't drink very much. When she gets nervous or excited she basically turns blue. Her eating is hit and miss, partly from the antibiotics. Lately she has been basically just falling asleep during the day sitting there. I have done 3 rounds of antibiotics from the vet and she seems to start to get better and then gets worse again. I have tried Arsenicum, Ant Tart, Bryonia, Kali Carb, Phosphorus, Kali Iodatum, Silicea, Nux Vom, Hepar Sulph, Lycopodium. I think that's it. We have been trying to treat this for over 2 months and we are losing the battle. I would appreciate any advice/suggestions.[Edited by ginger2 on 2022-01-26 20:49:40]

I have spent quite a lot of time w her over the last 3-4 days. Sometimes she acts better. No open mouth breathing, no wheezing but then sometimes she is wheezing and struggling. Yesterday morning she seemed a little better but today definitely seems worse. She isn’t eating well and hasn’t been for about a week.

it seems that when i gave the remedies that she would improve for approx 30 mins and then the next 2 hours she would be having trouble breathing and then for 30 mins she was doing better. By then it was time to dose her again and the cycle would start over. although for 3 nights my husband was gone & i brought her crate into the bedroom and i heard her going through cycles several times through the night. sometimes no trouble breathing, sometimes trouble.
