ALUMINA.

Falling off and excessive dryness of hair; scalp sore when hair is touched; creeping and titillation of scalp.

ANTIMONIUM CRUDUM.

Troublesome itching on head, with falling out of hair.

APIS.

Falling out of the hair, all through the proving.

ARNICA.

Ussher notes that the local use of Arnica produced an extraordinary growth of
hair on a limb. This suggested the use of an oil mixed with Arn. Ix in a case
of baldness, which was followed with marked success.

Joe De Livera of Sri Lanka on various Discussion forums claims successful clinical trials of the internal use of Arnica for hair growth.

ARSENIC ALB.

Falling out of hair; also in circular patches, which become rough and dirty.

AUR MET.

In acute diseases there is falling out of the hair but it grows in again.

Falling out of hair, especially in syphilis.

Then at the commencement of the eleventh century AVICENNA (Canon., lib. ii, cap. 79) says :-'Powdered gold is one of the medicines against melancholy, removes fetor of the breath, is even when given internally, a remedy for falling out of the hair.

BARYTA CARB.

Falling off of hair; baldness, especially on crown.

Crusta lactea, with moist crusts, falling of the hair, especially with swelling of the glands.

CALCAREA CARB.

Hair dry, falling out from sides and temples down to beard, with yellowish-white dandruff and a cold scalp.

CANTHARIS.

Falling of hair (2), after parturition (2)

CARBO VEG.

Falling of hair, especially after pregnancy (Sepia).

Falling of hair (3), after parturition (2)

Falling-off of hair after illness.

Falling out of hair, from a general weakened condition.

CHELIDONIUM.

Great falling off of the hair on the occiput when combed.

Constant falling out of the hair.

The profound lesions of the skin-nutrition were evidenced in the later stages by a remarkable shedding of the hair, and a gradual falling off of all the nails of the hands and feet.

CROTALUS HORRIDUS.
Falling off of hair, especially as a result of toxemia, such as scarlatina, typhus, variola, etc.

FERRUM MET.

Profuse falling off of the hair, with pain when it is touched.

FLOURIC ACID.

Here it causes a glutinous, sour perspiration; itching and redness of old cicatrices, with falling-off of the hair; baldness, and congestion of the head.

Type: weakly constitutions, sallow skin, emaciation (2)(C1); teeth deficient in enamel (Cl); falling out of hair (3), in spots (3); hair becomes frowsy and tangled (2), cannot be combed smooth; deformed (2), brittle (2) nails, rapid growth (1)[1]; vitiligo (2), in large spots (AG); fistulae: rectal (2), dental (3) and lachrymal (3); varicose veins (3), varicose ulcers (JTK)

Falling off of the hair; the new hair is dry and breaks off. Baldness.

GRAPHITIS.

Moist, scabby eruption; itching blotches from which a corrosive, watery, sticky fluid oozes; excoriations of skin, dry skin, inclined to crack; urine turbid with white or reddish sediment; finger nails very thick; falling off the hair;

KALI CARB.

Falling off and dryness of hair, esp. on temples, eyebrows, and beard, with violent burning-itching of the scalp in morning, and evening; the scalp oozes if scratched.

Dryness and falling out of the hair. (Lach., Nitr. ac., Sep., Phos.

Hair dry, rapidly falling off, with much dandruff.

Falling of hair, especially from temples, brows and beard, with great dryness thereof.

KALI SULPH.
After taking Kali sulph.1', every third day a powder for three weeks, the hair ceased falling, and the bald spot is covered with hair. (W. P. Wesselhoeft, M. D.

LYCOPODIUM.

Excessive falling-off of the hair. the hair turns grey.
1. Type: intellectually keen but physically weak (Cl); angular form in medial side of eyebrows, of upper eyelids and in forehead; premature falling of hair (3) in handfuls (1); prematurely old (1), wrinkled face (1) and forehead (2) with chest symptoms (3)[1]; grey hair (3); disposition to frown; deep furrows on forehead (WB); yellow discoloration of face (3), liver problems (3); red face after eating (2); emaciation of upper part of body with distended abdomen (HA)(Nat-m, Calc); fan-like motion of alae nasi in respiratory (3) and cerebral troubles, asynchronous with respiration (HA); one foot cold (right), the other warm (3)

MERCURIUS.

Profuse falling out of hair, mostly on sides of head and temples.
Falling off of hair; mostly on sides of head and temple; with humid eruptions on head or after clammy perspirations of head; with itching at night in bed; agg. from scratching; with burning, with great tendency to perspiration.

MEZEREUM. Abundant falling off of hair (as soon as it is touched, more on forepart of head and temple), even of whiskers; and on the genitals, esp. during childbed.

Vulvitis with falling off of hair.

Itching of external parts with falling off of hair.

A valuable remedy for eruptions on the scalp, particularly when thick crusts form from under which there oozes a thick purulent matter; in one case the eruption was preceded by violent cough which had lasted for several months and which disappeared as the scurfy eruption appeared, with falling of the hair, and with violent itching, intensely agg. heat; in another case the eruption was preceded by pain in the cranial bones, agg. night, the eruption itched and burned. Pityriasis.

NATRUM MUR.

Natrum muriaticum has the symptoms of easy falling out of the hair; it falls out when touched or combed.

Carbo vegetabilis has falling of the hair after parturition or severe illness.

Falling of hair from lack of nutrition.

Profuse falling out of hair: particularly on top of head; from congestion of blood to scalp; from syphilis; nervous headaches (head pains), debility, emaciation.

PETROLEUM.
'Falling out of the hair' is a characteristic symptom of Petrol., and accounts for the popularity of Petroleum hair-restorers. [Petrol. "probably acts on the sebaceous rather than the sudoriferous secretions of the skin, and its local action is on parts where the sebum is abundant'. R. T. C.]. The use of these hair-restorers has caused many violent headaches (head pains).
'Profuse falling-out of the hair.'-Hah.

PHOSPHORIC ACID.
Falling out of the hair is a striking feature; falling of the hair from the genitals whiskers eyebrows head.

It is closely related to Natrum mur. and Selenium in falling out of the hair.

Selenium has falling out of the hair from the head eyebrows and lashes beard and genitals from all over the body.

Great falling-off of the hair after grief.

Falling of hair from general debility.

PHOSPHORUS.

Falling of the hair; the roots seem dry.

Dandruff, with great dryness of the scalp and falling of the hair.


Hair falling (3), in handfuls (3), in spots (2); from forehead (2); baldness (2)

Falling of the hair in circumscribed spots.

Falling out of the hair (Graph., Nitr. ac., Sep., Sulph.) in large bunches.

Falling of the hair; the roots seem dry.

Falling off of hair (in large bunches on forepart of head, and) esp. above ears (alopecia areata).

Round patches on scalp completely deprived of hair; falling off of the hair
in large bundles on the forehead and on the sides above the ears; the roots
of the hair seem to be dry; the denuded scalp looks clear, white and smooth;
dandruff copious, falls out in clouds.


PLUMBUM.

Falling off of hair of scalp, also of eyebrows and whiskers (moustaches).

SALENIUM.

Another strange characteristic with these patients, is the falling out of hair from the eyebrows, whiskers, and genitals.

Falling off of the hair when combing it; also of eyebrows, whiskers, and genitals, with tingling-itching on scalp in evening, oozing after scratching, and with tension and sensation of contraction of scalp, with emaciation of face and hands.

SEPIA.

Under external head we have eruptions and falling out of the hair; yellow crusts; oozing of pus and other fluids; vesicles; eczema of infants

Great Falling Of The Hair, after chronic headaches (head pains) or at the climacteric.


Bald spots on scalp, porrigo decalvans. R. T. C.). Falling off of the hair.

After parturition: falling of hair (2); eczema in nursing mother (1)[1]; hemorrhoids, parturition agg. (1); absent menses after stopping lactation (JTK); distension abdomen in mothers (2)

Itching; agg. afternoon; when headache (head pain) passed off; on occiput in evening; on vertex, with falling of hair.

STAPHYSAGRIA.

Scaldhead; hair matted together, very stinking. R. T. C.). Falling off of hair.

'Hair dry, falling off; scalp sore to touch, itching violently, in the evening, when getting warm in bed; dandruff.'-Hg.

SULPHUR.

Great falling out of the hair of the head.

Falling out of the hair.

Scalp dry, falling of hair; worse, washing.

Various eruptions form over the scalp, pimples and pustules, with sensitiveness and itching and falling out of the hair

Falling off of hair; with great dryness of the hair, painfulness of scalp to the touch and violent itching in evening when getting warm in bed, with swelling of glands on neck (also in lying-in women).

SYPHILINUM.

Falling of the hair, in spots (2); hair sticks together (2), tangles easily (1)

THUJA.

Hair falling out or grows slowly and splits (N.).

white, scaly dandruff; hair dry and falling out.

Sphingurus (falling out of hair from beard; pain in jaw joint and zygoma); Sil.; Maland. (vaccination);

White scaly dandruff; hair dry and falling out.

'White, scaly dandruff; hair dry and falling out.'-Hg.

Much scurfy eruption on the scalp, with rapid falling out of the hair.

White, scaly dandruff; hair dry and falling out.

After revaccination, falling out of hair, which is very dry; headache (head pain); vertigo; poor sleep; difficult falling asleep; nightly restlessness; weakness in lower extremities; constant thirst; pain in epigastrium.

After vaccination: ulcer under tongue; diarrhea; asthmatic attacks; whooping cough; atrophy of right arm; paresis and atrophy of right leg; falling out of hair; sleeplessness.

USTALIGO.

Falling of the hair and nails; complete alopecia not a hair on the head.

The falling of the hair is most marked on the occiput.

VINCA MINOR.

Falling of the hair with great itching of the scalp.

Hair falls out in single spots and white hair grows there; spots on head
oozing moisture, the hair matting together.

WIESBADEN.

Falling of the hair, followed by a very rapid new growth; the new hair is darker.

Itching on the head, as from vermin, with increased falling of the hair.

Incessant itching on the head, scratching relieves for only a short time; the desquamation of white dust-like scales and falling of the hair are very copious (twenty-third day).

ZINC.

Falling of hair from vertex, even to baldness.
Great falling off of hair of genital organs.

Profuse falling off of hair of genitals.
