Drastic hair loss+extremely dry skin

My hair has been falling out in clumps for some time now. I've taken phosphoric acid 12C for a month now, which has helped cur the hair loss some, although it makes my skin incredibly dry. I have dry skin to begin with. Can someone suggest a remedy that would address both conditions ?

Thanks.

OK.so I tried the petroleum as you said and initailly it worked really, really well. My skin became normal and my hair returned to its usual thickness. After a month and a half though, the same problem (hair loss and dry skin) is back, and this time it's twice as bad. Did I use the remedy for too long at a stretch ? Should I try something different ? Please advise. It's really alarming the way my hair is coming out.

I am female, late twenties. I weigh 135 lbs. I have no problems or complaints about my periods : They're light and regular. I am extremely healthy in all respects - I have absolultely no health complaints, apart from this problem with my hair and skin. I don't have very good eating habits. I adore chocolate, coffee, black tea and carbs and eat too much of these at the expense of healthy food. I don't eat meat, and I rarely eat/drink
dairy, since I'm lactose intolerant.I had acne very badly as a teenager, but nowadays it only breaks out when I'm under severe stress. I do have incredibly bad dandruff, which has not responded to any over the counter shampoos. I mention this, in case it has something to do with the hair loss. The hair loss began when I first became a committed vegetarian. Over the last three years or so however, it has become drastic : If I simply run my hands over my head, 15-20 strands come away at a time, each time. My bedding is covered in hair. My skin is very sensitive and easily agitated. It is also terribly dry. No oils or moisturizers help. My skin looks papery and there are skin flakes everywhere on the insides of my clothes when I undress.

From which part of your body does these skin flakes come out ?? Is there any itching sort of??

Thank you for sharing with us. In a sense, I am glad to hear someone else has the same symptoms as myself. I thought I was alone.

I am a 32 year old male. I weigh 130 lbs. I have similar problems with my skin and hair. Like you, I don't eat that well. Because I am constantly on the go, sometimes I skip meals.

I love chocolate (yummy), coffee, tea, breads, and well...caffeine drinks. I DO eat meats but also have to skip dairy because of lactose intolerance.

My hair falls out in clumps (no, I'm not bald) while brushing my hair or after washing my hair.

My dandruff is the worst problem. Shampoos do NOT help. I've noticed it actually makes it worse, drying out my scalp. There are some days that it's not noticeable but then there are those days where it just flares up. It justs make me feel insecure. I dread people noticing it on my clothes.

My skin is extremely dry and moisturizers only temporarily help.

I noticed that the dandruff get worse during the fall/winter season but spring/summer is barely there. I also get some patches of dry skin under/on my eyelid during the winter but magically disappears in summer.

I see many similarities and hope someone can help us.

Have you considered the possibility that it's horomonal? This only applies to females, but the symptoms sound similar to things related to PCOS, polycystic ovary syndrome. A horomonic imbalance can cause skin problems, hair loss and dandruff. Maybe check with your gyno?

I've been having the problem of severe hair loss and extremely dry skin for almost 6 months. After visiting the doctors to get their opinion, I was diagnosed with a fungal infection called 'Seborrhoeic Dermatitis' caused by function Malassezia furfur.

THE SOLUTION:
A shampoo called Capasal (in the UK). It simply kept the fungus under control and after one use the effects were very clear. Hair wouldn't fall off so easily.

As for the dry skin, a cream called MICONAZOLE/HYDROCORTISONE cream. Spreading it around the dry spots in my face clearly reduced the dryness, and I'm talking after 2 days of use.

SOME might say that these solutions aren't permanent, but that's wrong because by keeping the sore spots moist, you are providing a difficult environment for the fungus to live in. The fungus's optimum environment to live in is skin that produces sebum but is not kept moist but instead dry. The fungus causes the affected spots to become even drier.

ALL THE RESEARCH on the internet led to me to 2 silly and incorrect conclusions, don't fall for them.
1. Thyroid gland is affected by overproduction or underproduction.
2. Genetics (Male pattern baldness) and hormones.

For a better idea, research the terms Seborrhoeic Dermatitis on wikipedia.

Hope this helps!
