Help getting off medication - suffering from insomnia

Ive been taking Hydroxyzine, 25mg every night, for the past few weeks. Now when I stop taking it, quitting cold turkey, I find that I can not sleep. For example, the other night, I woke up every hour. When I took it again, I was able to sleep. I find that I am not anxious, its just that I cant stay asleep. Ive tried melatonin, and that doesnt work. Is there a good homeopathic solution that will help me?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hydroxyzine 25mg seems to be a very strong anti-histamine. Do you have any allergy or any problem apart from broken sleep issues? Please do tell.

Homeopathy relies a lot on treating the whole body system, than just sleeping habits in particular.

Do you have any stomach issues along? frequent awakenings due to stool in the morning? anxiety/depression/guilt? breathing issues? random jerks that wake you up? skin problems/rashes/itching? frequent change of diet? or anything else thatd help evaluating the issues for better? diarrhea? water issues? disturbed flow of urine? pain during urination? bladder insensitivity?

When do you feel sleepy most? [duration of the day]

Do you have a proper sleep hygiene? [sleeping in a proper noiseless environment, properly dark environment during sleep?]

All these symptoms would hint while choosing a proper homeopathic remedy.

I do deal with anticipatory anxiety, as well as from depression, from being alone so much, which is another thing Id be interested in getting a homeopathic remedy for.
Before taking hydroxy, I slept well, and would get up 1-3 times a night to go to the bathroom. Ive never had such an issue with sleep until I quit taking the hydroxy, cold turkey.
I have LGS, and am working on healing my gut. None of the other mentioned things applies.
I would say when I hit the afternoon, that is when I start to feel drowsy and tired. But a lot of the time, when I go to lay down, I dont/cant fall asleep (during the day).
Yes, for the most part. I do have a salt lamp that I have next to my bedside that I have on.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

- Do you have anxiety issues while anticipating events like waiting for a bus/train and then sudden gut problems during anxiety?

- Do you like eating sweets? Like if given any sweets, youd not turn off the offer?

- Does consolation during your depressed moment from your close ones make you irritable? (Notice - hugs and consolation during anxiety/depression may comfort them, others may get more irritated and prefer loneliness)

- Extremely sensitive? (for example if someone changes the curtains or color of your room without permission, might trigger you? problems in reading and writing at times? Afraid of being left alone?)

1. Can you bit elaborate what kind of gut problems you have? and the side you get seizures? (left or right?)

2. What awakens you during sleep? (breath, high heartbeat/pounding chest, jerks in limbs) Do you wake up fresh (or depressed?), each time waking up, do you have problems falling asleep again?

It is very difficult to evaluate someone online. A proper qualified homeopath might take hours in consultation. Id suggest you wait here till you get a proper response from a qualified homeopath. Im active here as an amateur, so not eligible for any prescription. Thank You.

Your sleep problems may be on account of elevated levels of blood sugar. It would be a good idea to have it checked.

Hello,
I have some social anxiety and driving anxiety.
I do, but they have been significantly curtailed with my recent change in trying to eat healthier.
I would not say irritable, no.
I wouldnt say extremely sensitive.
LGS - Leaky Gut Syndrome. Basically, my gut barrier is compromised. It can lead to lots of issues. But trying to avoid things, like gluten and dairy, which I am sensitive to, and can be damaging to my gut. Also trying to eat a more wholistic/organic diet.
I dont get seizures.
Generally, I couldnt tell you. Theres not anything dramatic. There was this one time when I woke up, and was very scared or afraid for some reason, but could not recall. But that has only happened once since quitting the medication.

Okay, I misunderstood LGS as Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

- I assume that you have anxiety when *people approach you*, more than *in the company of the people at home*, *speaking between the people*.

- You feel a bit sad and depressed when alone rather than being left alone. (Right?)

- Interrupted sleep after *midnight*.

- You have digestive symptoms too.

From what I hear, I guess Lyc *could be a good* remedy for that. But a close physical checkup is MUST, there are multiple homeopaths thatd do that to you. The potency and the exact remedy could only be known after a physical follow up. The interview might take more than an hour in some cases, depending on LGS condition and the degree of severity.

As suggested, you may check your blood sugar levels too.

- Correct.
- Yes.
When would I take Lyc?

Lycopodium (Lyc) is a remedy for particularly targetting stomach symptoms (this acts on anxiety problems too in longer term by dealing with stomach).

Common behavior in Lyc patients are:

- Aversion to bread.
- Excessive hunger, but eating a bit creates fullness.
- Preference to sweets.
- Hunger at night.
- Symptoms worse at night.
- Gastric problems.

It is important to note that Lyc is NOT the exact remedy for you, it has been a guesswork mostly. Fixing Sleep-cycle with Lyc might take a very long time (3-4 months!) and it is NOT suitable to take it along Hydroxyzine or Melatonin (or any allopathic drug that works on the principle of altering your normal functioning of the body).

A proper appointment with a homeopath would help evaluating the severity of your problem, your needs at which places to select a proper remedy. Also, if you take Lyc, then a lot of other remedy in homeopathy would become unavailable (remedy-remedy interaction in homeopathy).

Some cases, other remedies are required in homeopathy to complement your recovery or speed up certain fixes. A proper evaluation of your case might take upto 3 hours!

The best Id suggest you here to open a separate thread asking for appointment from the available doctors who are free for online appointment too and would be very glad to look into your case.

Further, you should maintain a proper sleep hygiene for next few months. Healthy habits never go waste here.
