Rabbit with upper respiratory infection + Otitis

Hello, I have a new rabbit at home that was came home already sick.
He is 2 months old, male and sick with rabbit snuffles = upper respiratory infection which I suspect may be on the verge of becoming pneumonia.

Symptoms:
White discharge from left side of nose
Honking noises due to mucus buildup
Otitis of the ear (not sure which one) itchy ear is constantly scratching it
Has good appetite, is active, loves affection, holds no grudges, patient

Started with Aconitum C30 followed currently by Bryonia C30 (1x day)
Second day of Bryonia now, maybe slight improvement but too soon to tell. Is also on Baytril, oregano oil, colloidal silver and grapefruit seed extract because the noises were initially more bronchial and it was becoming concerning as I do not want it to progress to pneumonia.
Respiratory infections in rabbits can be easily fatal and as much as I admire natural remedies, once it gets critical I do welcome antibiotics.

I appreciate everyones opinion, more than 1 person welcome as I would like some feedback so lets brainstorm together.

Also just an update, today the nose was crusty so the mucus is dry instead of liquid.

mercyann 5 months ago
Violent, fluent coryza, lasting from one to three days, then changing into stoppage of nose, making breathing difficult. Discharge thin and watery, like raw white of egg. Violent sneezing coryza. (Nat Mur) - This is very similar to what is happening, only that the secretions were a bit more white. First runny nose and now its crusty and more difficult to breathe.

Is it recommended to use Nat Mur instead?

GIVE NAT MUR AND SEE.

Thank you, I had not seen your reply and decided to administer ANTIM TART C30 instead last night as the main concern is the honking sounds sitting lower in the bronchi/lungs and I think your suggestion is fitting.
Today the noises seem to be less loud, the nose has less mucus coming out. I think he is doing a bit better.
I notice a slight shift from the respiratory noises now going upwards and not as much bronchial which suggests to me that the mucus is slowly clearing from the lungs/bronchi and starting to sit more near the nose/throat.
Should I continue with another dose ANT TART today?

Update: Have 1 dose last night. Today, rabbit is about 90% better. I can hear no noises at all.
Took him to the vet as well who did auscultation, lungs are clear! No otitis in ears.
The only symptom now is some yellow snot in the right side of the nose.
Vet gave Penicilin injections as Baytril is not recommended for smaller rabbits (inhibits their growth)

In the evening he got a bit worse, I gave another dose of ANTI TART C30, within 15 minutes noises reduced a lot.
He has a pattern of getting worse in the evening, better in the morning.
Current symptoms:
*Yellow snot in right nostril (pasty consistency)
*Crackling sounds coming from nose
Observation: He was not drinking water, I had to put some on his vegetable and today was the first day I saw him drink.

GIVE THREE TIMES A DAY CONTINUOUSLY WITHOUT A BREAK.FEEDBACK AFTER 2 DAYS.

Good evening Mr. Anuj,

Updating you now:

I followed your instructions, after taking him to the vet on the day after injecting penicillin the nose fully cleared up.
No more yellow discharge in the right nostril.

I feel that Antimonium helped greatly clearing up the lungs but was not effective regarding the upper respiratory tract, specifically his blocked nose on the right side with back then yellow snot that was stretchy and dried on the outside.

We did 8 days of antibiotic and I discontinued maybe 3-4 days ago. Symptoms were all gone.

Today he is starting to show symptoms again:

Right nostril starting to show signs of yellow snot
Sneezing many times in a row (maybe around 5-6 PM)

Is eating well and otherwise active. Vet suggested an allergy so I removed his bedding and hay and pellets and am only giving fresh foods and napkins as a bedding.

After consulting literature, I decided to give NAT MUR C30 an hour ago. I will update you tomorrow.

Note: I moved him upstairs yesterday and it is colder here in the evening and warm during the day as the room has glass windows that get heated up by the sun. Not sure if switching his place has something to do with the symptoms coming back. In either case I will be updating you tomorrow.

I forgot something important, he also has cracking/crackling sounds coming from his nose which was also the last symptom he had before being cured last time.

A sound like this crack crack crack

GIVE CALC CARB 30 IF NAT MUR FAILS.

Noted, thank you.

UPDATE: Gave NAT MUR C30 in his drinking water (5 drops, shaken a few times into the water). 15 minutes after I saw him drink he sneezed 2 short and small sneezes. Besides that, I did not hear him sneeze the whole day. The water has been available the whole day, in the evening I am replacing it with normal water as I dont want to overdose and he drinks a lot more than a tea spoon...

A few things I noticed that changed:

* Cold extremities of the ears at night
* Is now drinking more water (not more times, but when he drinks he takes in larger quantities of water) - This is a good sign, as in the past he was not drinking much and rabbits should consume a considerate amount of water

I am not attributing a clinical sign to the above and think that it is within the range of what is normal /non-clinical. But I wanted to note that down for your appreciation. I would like your feedback regarding him drinking more water, is this a side effect typical to NAT MUR from your observation?

I will repeat the same protocol tomorrow does that seem ok?

mercyann 5 months ago
Sorry also, nostril is dry I see no secretions.
Also no cracking sounds.

mercyann 5 months ago
DRINKING MORE WATER SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE IF THE RABBIT IS EATING AND CHEERFUL.

AS OF NOW ONLY OBSERVE WITHOUT GIVING ANY MEDICINES.

GIVE A FEEDBACK AFTER 2 DAYS.

I just saw your message,

UPDATE: yesterday evening he had a sneeze at around 2 AM that was 2 short/small dry sneezes. I carried him to the living room that is warmer temperature when he did that, as he was sitting on my lap. I gave him more NAT MUR C30 after that and left it over night until 4 PM in his drinking water. The ears also warmed up after this, so it must have been the temperature that was too low and he quickly adjusted.

Today at 1-2 PM more sneezing, sneezing more wet now and bigger sneezes. Seems like an aggravation symptom to me as compared to yesterday but not sure...

I took the possible allergens away (hay, bedding) and he is still sneezing, suggesting that it is not an allergy. Perhaps something chronic underlying...

I just switched his water to normal drinking water and will observe is that ok?

TO CONLCUDE Current symptoms 23/11:

Around 1-2 PM wet sneezing that is stronger now and more frequent
If there are secretions I would say runny/watery no color but the nose does not seem to be runny or congested at the moment
No cracking sounds in nose

Otherwise active, eats well and plays.

mercyann 5 months ago
Noticeable aggravation at nearly 5 PM now, multiple sneezes in a row, pauses and continues to sneeze.
Lies down on right side.
No cracking sounds.

The main issue seems to be sneezing multiple times right now, sneezes sound wet.

mercyann 5 months ago
Aggravation has been observed from 5-7 PM then he had another even at 8PM and after that the amount of times diminished and now the sneezing is just 1 time instead of multiple times in a row and not as strong. Last I heard him sneeze was 1 hour ago.

mercyann 5 months ago
WAIT AND OBSERVE FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND SEE.

IN CASE THE SNEEZING CONTINUES GIVE SILICEA 6X THREE TIMES A DAY.

I just switched his water to normal drinking water and will observe is that ok? NO ISSUES.

anuj srivastava 5 months ago
Update: Today he has yellow snot coming out of his right nostril. It started an hour ago. I didnt have SILICEA 6X but I have pure silicea powder. I made 1 parts SIL to 10 parts of water, sucussed it 6 times in a cup and put part of it in his driking water is that ok? I have SILICEA D12 is that preferable?

Current symptoms:
Yellow snot from right nostril
Marked signs on the right side of his face, eyes on right side are more closed while left side looks healthy! I think this is IMPORTANT to consider with our further treatment.
Again stronger symptoms starting at 2PM (its 3 PM now I will see if he aggravates around 5-6PM again and update you)
Constant sneezing
Doesnt seem comfortable, lies down then goes to eat then lies down, seems restless.
Cracking sounds returned as there is congestion of the nose

Current medications:
SILICEA prepared at home (can give D12 as alternative if you suggest)

Waiting for your feedback.

mercyann 5 months ago
The yellow snot started BEFORE taking SILICEA, he was just drinking normal water without medications for 1 day when this happened.

mercyann 5 months ago
Update at 9 PM:

After the sneeze attack at 2 PM I have not seen him sneeze much.
Checked nose, there is no yellow snot but instead just a bit of colorless secretion (like water) on the right side.
Left side seems clear.
No cracking sounds, nose is not congested.

Note: I was expecting the 5-7PM aggravation but this was not the case, in fact he has been active, playing and looks better.
