treating high fever for my 3 year old
my 3 year old son has a high fever ( around 104 )and very mucousy but he is still pretty alert ,i have treatd him with gelsemium 2 pellets for each 2 hours but his fever has not broken can i / should i give him tylenol/motrin...thanking you in advancejill

what color of face?
what temperature of hands and feet?
any pains at all?where?
is there distinct heat -sweat -chill stages? any thirst? during what stage?
any other symptoms occuring during this phase?

cold symptoms accompany his fever and i am not aware of any other symptons that preceeded it .his feet seem cooler than his hands which are pretty hot but his head is very hot. his face may be a little flushed but not very and he says that his "wee-wee"hurts and his cheek? bear in mind he is3?:)

john,thank you so much for your responses....i have gotten a urine sample tested and it has quite a lot of blood in it ....also his temp is 104.2, mostly hot only in the head and trunk of body,his glands in his neck are quite swollen as well as a very red throat ( he also has a small infected sore on his foot, about the size of a nickel ) he doesn't have an appetite but is quite thirsty for any water hot/cold, orange juice or yoghurt drinks. i have not given him the nux yet i wanted to give you all the rest of the story that seems to be unfolding,to get your opinion before i went ahead with that. also i gave him 2x 30c of belladonna 20mins after which he dry vomited ( could have been from the stress of the rectal themometer), started sneezing,clear mucous from nose, weeped about seeing the doctor (normal reaction)for the urine sample and eventually perked up. now he feels lousy again 4 hours later.

child needs AVOID---sugar products---acidic foods and drinks...i.e..coca-cola,pepsi,and the like;vinegar;fruit and juices;...etc
