white spots on throat

Hi, last week woke up with sore throat. My house was a bit dry and I thought nothing of it. A few hours later, I looked in the mirror and noticed white spots on back of throat and back of tongue sorta white-yellow/pasty in color. Discomfort with swallowing, but its not too bothersome. Went to the MD to rule out strep and no strep. Otherwise feel fine. THey seem to be going away, but when It feels like my sinuses are draining. I'm spitting alot of mucous out or something. I've been gargling/drinking fluids. Any other suggestions? Thinking of seeing an Allergist if he can fit me in.

I also get tonsillolits, as a matter of fact I have one right now. I've tried getting this one out but can't seem to because I gag instantly. Anyone have any tips on how to stop from gagging when trying to remove these suckers?
