This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Has it happened after some illness??

Does she have debility in general??

Homeopathy can help to prevent further deterioration and may be bring in improvement.

As many factors are to be examined about the child's present state of health and heredity, best to consult a good homeopath in your town. Necessary to identify factors causing the ailment and arrive at the constitutional remedy in addition to eyesight improvement remedies.....for a better cure.

Delay not justified in such a case.

The way you just said your daughter developed myopia when she was 8 makes me think it is what traditional optomotrists call a hereditary condition. I was also 8 years old when it happened to me for no obvious reason, and it grew steadily worse until recently.

I am extremely new to homeopathic medicine. I don't know if there is anything significant they can do, but I do know a number of options based on alternative theories that have improved my myopia enough to arouse curiosity from my optomitrist. I recommend buying a book on eye exercises from amazon.com, and check out www.clearvisionhawaii.com for pinhole glasses.

I think there is still hope that these remedies could restore normal sight to your daughter. In my case, the main problem is that my "hereditary" myopia grew moderately severe before I heard that anything besides buying stronger glasses could be done, so now I need glasses to legally drive anywhere or to read the chalkboard from the front row, and the whole time I spend wearing glasses weakens my eyes. (By the way, eye exercises also work for presbyopia and astigmatism, and it only takes 15-30 minutes per day.)

Good luck!

The eye exercises were developed by dr William Bates-- in 1920s, I recommend that you read M.Schneider Handbook for self-healing-chapter on vision-he was legally blind untill he was 17-then he started these eye exercises and now has unrestricted driver's licence in California.
I wrote more in other forum-if you can't get hold of these books I can get a link.

I'm sorry for replying late-I've just come to this thread.
Although there are many books now they are all based on dr.Bates work ("Better eyesight without glasses" was published in 1924, he was of course ridiculed by medical establishment, his work's merit never actually discussed; I have no idea how it ended because it is quite depressing to realize that honesty can result in destroyng someone profesionally so I choose not to read about it).
HDRTARIQ: I will write the main points/"exercises" of dr.Bates and you and everyone interested will add to them whatever you might like. (and as I have no "eye book" with me - all were borrowed by the mother I wrote about in thread:
http://www.homeopathyhome.com/cgi-bin/bb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=.... I might be misunderstood-please ask questions if in doubt. And I write only about nearsightness (although when I think of it now, I'd say I'm writing about ALL eyes).
1. As much time as you can spend WITHOUT glasses or contacts. Preferably always.Only then your eyes actually come "alive"====work. And of course all the exercises are to be done w/o glasses.
2.very few people are born nearsighted (1% of them?)- but then some develop myopia and some don't. Dr. Bates PARTIALY blamed habits like:
*straining eyes and then rubbing them to "revive" them.
never do that. I wrote about ciliary muscles in the a/m thread, just focus at somthing distant to stretch and relax your inner eye muscles (ciliary ./focusing m.) And if you feel your eyes become strained do the PALMING (also in that thread-believe it or not this is one of the most beneficial "exercises" for your eyes.)
So always keep your eyes rested and relaxed.

**staring and not blinking
Also wrong. Blink more often (once in 4-5 sec if I remember right) and from time to time do "deep blink"-someting that your eyes really like: just close your eyes very tight, tighest that you can, hold, say,to a count of 3-5, and relax.

Staring, trying to keep the whole picture in focus, is also wrong. the bigger the picture the worse eyesight. Eyes are supposed to see only a small detail in focus AT A TIME.
Some exercises for this are
-reading book upside-down to focus on one letter at a time
-shifting attention from one detail to anoter when looking at... whatever
-J. Goodrich recommends imagining the magic pencil attached to your nose with which you can "trace" everything you see.

You understand the point, don't you?

3.some people have weak eye muscles
*inner (these ciliary muscles)which can be exercised by focusing at something close (they are contracted)and then at something far (they are stretched)and again and again
**outer eye muscles (lateral rectii, inner rectii and oblique)which you exercise by looking up and down, then left and right, then upper left to lower right and back, then upper right to lower left and back, then clockwise circles and then counterclockwise circles. Esp circles should be done SLOWLY.
4. Eyes need sunlight. Depends a lot on the season and location but usually 2 hrs after sunrise and 2 hours before sunset are good for the sunning exercise. With closed eyes turn you face towards sun.Slowly turn your head up/down/right/left so the sun rays fall on every place on the eye (actually-the retina) Here you can also use imagination: "see" in your mind details of distant objects. like fences, tall ladders and whatever you want. Push (in your mind) the objects farther and farther away.

That's all! Palming, shifting, blinking, suning, muscles exercises. How many repetitions depends on you, just don't get them tired and remember that it's better to do it twice a day, 15 minutes each time, than half an hour once.

Stay with eye doctors. Get a second opinion to be clear as to actual condition and expected progress or treatment.
