Toddler eye discharge
Hi,My daughter is 15 months. She had a blocked tear duct when she was about 3-4 months old, but since then her eyes are clear. At 12 months her left eye suddenly had what looked like an infection and since then the discharge does not stop. She has lots of put in the mortings, the eye lids DO NOT glue together at any time, no redness, less pus in the afternoon but with the tear. Left eye is affected. I tried silicea 30C for two weeks, it seemed to help a bit and relieve some pus, but at the end the pus returned. I am giving her now Pulsatilla Nigricans 30C which also seems to relieve most of pus, but the tear and some pus remain. I wonder if there anything else I could try to relieve the discharge.

if the discharges are from the tear duct, the proper remedy is PETROLEUM 30C one dose a day for 3 to 4 days.

Hi - yes, the discharge is from the tear duct, I suspect it is blocked, I need some time to purchase Petroleum - will report as soon as i get it -

After 4 days of Petroleum 30C the discharge is less, but still there. Better in the evenings, after the nap, she wakes up with clear eyes and has one or two overflowings (tear and some milky pus) until the night. In the mornings the discharge is more often, however less than before taking Petroleum. Keep taking Petroleum?

She started turning more during the night and I think for the past 3 nights or so she was waking up more often than before. I think she also started sleeping longer during the nap time (12-3pm - used to have shorter naps), but other than that, I did not notice anything specific. I could only give her the remedy at around 8 pm before bed, as at other times it was hard to make her drink from the cup or to give her the remedy on between the foods.

Today the discharge is less - it seems it is diminishing every day since Petroleum.
The current symptoms are:
1. Left eye is affected. Started 3 months ago with sudden infection and lots of discharge.
2. mornings - eyes clean as they are open, not glued together, eye lashes are clean, within 15 minutes after waking up yellow discharge accumulates inside inner corner. Before Petroleum the yellow could cover the whole inner corner and even overflow, now it is just some noticeable discharge. No tear discharge as she wakes up.
3. During the day the yellow discharge accumulates and flows from the inner corner along with tear - approx. once in every 1-1.5 hours the discharge overflows on the area underneath the eyelid. Lots of tear discharge, less yellow.
4. Toward the evenings - less discharge overall, slower tearing, cleaner looking eye overall.
5. Eye lashes do not stick togeter, eye normal color, no redness, no itching, no other marks, no bumps, etc.
6. She has some teeth by now, 4 front upper and 4 front lower, four molars BUT the four canine are not there yet. I read this could affect the tear duct blockage.
7. Breasfeed, eats normal solid foods regularly, nothing else specific in behavior or other habits.

I would say energy - no change, happy - no change, she is consistently happy kid, emotion level - no change, may be a slight separation enxiety when I leave lately. Also she wakes up three to four times before midnight from the time she is put to bed, and one other time during the night. So, total four to five dimes during the night. I think this has been the only change lately.

Don't know if its worth mentioning - but she has a tiny bump on her left hand between thumb and index finger - skin color, I think this developed lately.

very small, movable, never before in heath history. I think it showed up after i gave her silicea 30c, may be i am wrong.
I have searched this site database, and I don't see any remedy that relates to her discharge (after I tried silicea, pulsatilla and petroleum). I thought about Calcarea Carbonica - do you think its worth a try?
