throat numbness
after a virus 2 years ago my face has been numb and inside my mouth has total numbness like a dentists anaethestic.my lips are totally numb and the saliva in my mouth comes out my mouth instead of going down my throat.nerve no 9 does not operate,the back of the tongue does not operate making food consumption very difficult.

my father has become very depressed due to this condition,any way this could be alleviated through medication with no side affects
quality of life needs to improve he is 75 years old

please excuse the spelling
my father is on beta blockers for high blood pressure has been for 20 years.also the tablet statin to reduce cholestrol,and aspirin due to mild angina and having an angioplaste a few years ago.
also his numbness has been attributed by the specialists have said his cranial nerve no 9 and 10 not functioning
