sore throat from intubation tube
My husband had outpatient surgery yesterday and his throat is bothering him from having the tube down his throat during anesthesia. He isn't very cooperative in describing symptoms but says it is scratchy, raw and only hurts on swallowing. Not aware of pain when he doesn't swallow.
Would appreciate advice.
Thanks,
ruth

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Arnica 30, 200 any one potency is required and to be continued for 5 days.
If improvement starts stop the medicine.

He's been on Arnica 30c (in water) since immediately coming out of surgery.
He's had several doses since yesterday but I don't think it has helped the throat pain.
No way I can get Aesc. Hip. without ordering it and by the time I get it, he will probably be better on his own.
Any other recommended remedies we can try?

Arnica would be the first choice.
I would stop the remedy immediately, give it half a day or so, and then see if there is a reaction. The remedy merely provides the stimulus, it does not cure the complaint, the patients own system does.
If there is no improvement, then select another. Staph may also be a good choice, as the throat is a sphincter muscle also.
Good luck.

It should be born in mind though, that such things will go away on their own. We should not merely rush to prescribe unless the symptoms linger.
Just a point for further thought.
