effexor xr
I have been on effexor xr about 6 mon or longer. My concern is what will be the right way to get off this medicine without having many side effects?sandie on 2006-12-12

Dear Sandie,
You are right to be concerned about withdrawal from this vile 'stuff'. I understand why many have been given this 'stuff' but in the long run it is not a solution.
Please put effexor in the search box on this forum and you will find many, many, many posts about it and what others have taken or done to get off it. Also use the Remedy Finder on the home page of this website. Put in all your symptoms. You find a homeopathic remedy which will help you. There are many remedies to assist one to get off drugs of all sorts. But homeopathy is very individualized and only you know what your symptoms are. It is not a 'one size' for all. Please, post back what remedy comes up for you and those qualified here will help you overcome this effexor, how to take homeopathy, what dosage, how often, etc.
Blessings,
Jade

Generally, a rule of thumb for withdrawing from psychiatric medications is that you will need at least half the time you were on the drug to withdraw with the fewest side effects. Even then, you may experience extreme side effects that seem like psychosis or 'rebound' of depression. That is because the drugs are making your body dependent on them, not because you need it for depression. This is how the drug companies know they can hook you for life, if they can fool you. REcovering from these will take some time. Go to chaada dot org or paxilprogress dot org (or com?). Paxilprogress has a withdrawal support forum where people who are experienced in this sort of thing can help you. Also drugawareness dot org has a list of supplements you should take to restore your body of the vitamins & nutrients it has lost because of Effexor.
