homeopathic understanding of food reactions?

I would like to understand how classical homeopathy views food reactions. what is the cause, or does it matter? how do these reactions start and why?

my son has been treated with homeopapthy for awhile now. his ecama is gone, but we are not sure about food reactions. he still gets hives that come and go, especially when he gets wet. we don't know if its related to food, and we are still too cautious to feed him the foods that previously agravated his eczema.

are food intolerances, especially hives, an indication of any particular remedy? or is this just a phase that one passes through when healing? I would be grateful for any insight that those with knowledge of classical homeopathy can share.

Thank you.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
John,

Hives and aczema are a classic symptoms of an allergy to a substance. Allergies are effectively an over-reaction of the body's immune system to a specific stimulus. The reactions can be on the skin, or in the body - lungs, gastro-intestinal tract, organs, etc.

To isolate the offending substances, you need to carefully note what he is eating, then remove one substance at a time from his diet. For example, if he is getting hives/eczema and you remove strawberries from his diet for a week and they go away, then you add strawberries back for a week and they reappear, you have a good indication there of the culprit.

However there are some frequently occurring allergies that you might look into: strawberries, tomato, pollens (including honey), dust, peanut, and raw egg white (albumen). Far less common than most popular magazines would like you to believe are the allergies to foods like milk and gluten, but don't discount them.

Your doctor can usually advise on identifying allergies, and the other causes of hives and eczema.

good luck!

trust me when I tell you that we have been down this road. His diet is currently limited to chicken, turkey, beef, some rice, apples, bananas, some fruit juices, some green vegetables if we can get him to eat them. and i think that is about it. I believe homeopathy has the power to address the 'overreaction' that you mentioned, but I would like understand better how it works.

His current remedy is sulfur, and yes he is light years better than last year. but of course, I will not be happy until he is completely healed.

That is fine.

Can you tell us what the doctor said was the problem? And have you identified any foods in particular that affect him negatively?

Also, what strength is the Sulphur remedy you are giving him? Did you start it at the same time as you adjusted his diet?

Zep-

I like our homeopath, but he is very quiet about his thoughts. I'm not sure he has told us what he thinks the cause is, other than that he has inherited it both from myself and my wife, probably in the form of miasms. I have had atopic dermatitis all my life, but am working on it with homeopathy. same for my wife.

he was breastfed for two years, during which time my wife could only eat those foods mentioned. If she at fish for example, and breastfed him, he would vomit and break out worse. same for many foods. all grains, eggs, nuts and soy. the list was very long.

The homeopath started him with ar. album when he was about a year. tried phosphorous next I think, finally a few months back he switched to sulpher 200c, based on symptoms including redness around the mouth an anus, a bit of eczema still remaining at that time. the eczema is gone, but hives still come and go, they really come out when he gets wet for a bath, but they fade within 15 minutes.

its very strange indeed.

Dear John,

For hives that come after taking bath you may try Bovista 200 a single dose. But at least a month after Sulphur.

Thanks Rajiv. I will look into it. I don't want to interfere with our docs plans, but will research your suggestion and discuss with him. I did not feel that sulphur would adress the hives issue anyway, so that might be the next step in treatment.
